I've been using the self-propelled EGO mower for several years now to mow an approximately 1 acre field of thick weeds. I do it in thirds, not because the battery needs to recharge, but because i do.

I've got a Snapper 82v Electric Lawn Mower. Without a doubt, the thickness of the grass affects the run time. In spring, I can do my 7500 sq.ft. yard with two batteries in 45 minutes. But, in summer when the grass is growing strong, I all have to use two and a half batteries but it still takes me 45 minutes. Self propelled also affects run time. To save energy, I'll power up a hill and push down a hill (depending on my mowing pattern that week). And lastly, I found that each battery only takes 30 minutes to charge to full. So, with three batteries, I've got continuous run time!

Thank you so very much for this review. I only wish the model number LM2142SP was stated on the review title to make this review easier to find. This "IS" EGO's first walk behind lawn mower with EGO's "Most Powerful" 1200W brushless motor in 2022 that took them two extra years to put it into the year 2021 model LM2156SP XP as this motor requires total of 10.0Ah to bring up it's potential which EGO did not have in 2019. This is also EGO's one and only walk behind lawn mower with Peak Power Technology that is on their other high torque demanding equipment like the sing and 2 stage snow blowers and Zero Turns. It has the flexibility of increase EGO tested runtime from 80 min, 120 min, 160 min, 192 min and more by putting two 7.5Ah, 10.0Ah, 12.0Ah and whatever larger capacity of 56V batteries EGO will be releasing in the future to make this model the only walk behind lawn becomes a 15.0Ah, 20.0Ah, 24.0Ah+ lawn mower. With two larger capacity batteries installed, the maximum torque on this unit will also increase from 8.3 ft-lb and up (I wonder if it will reach 10 ft-lb with two 12.0Ah batteries) while keeping the two batteries cool for longevity with the Peak Power Technology. It is a fantastic machine but isn't it a bit dated in 2022 when compared with all the new EGO Select Cut dual blade lawn mowers? NOT AT ALL!! With a few genuine EGO parts (less than $70.00) and 15 min. this 2019 lawn mower can be converted into a.....2022 Select Cut LM2142SP XP (or, Select Cut LM2146SP XP with two 10.0Ah batteries) with flexibility of greater torque power and runtime as long as EGO keeps producing higher capacity batteries (like they are going to stop anytime soon!?). Here are the EGO parts for the conversion: EGO Fan #EGO-3403110001 EGO Washer #EGO-5650705002 EGO Upper Blade #EGO-2827669001 EGO Blade #EGO-3707494002 EGO Bolt #EGO-5640321002 x 2 EGO Prevailing Torque Hexagon Lock Nut #EGO-5630351002 x 2

I've done some small/medium scale commercial reviews on this "exact" model mower over my first season running my own all electric landscaping company. Spoiler alert I do really like them in general, don't rely too much on that auto walk behind motor they all glitch out and die very very quick (probably a cable issue), so fixable to people with basic electrical skills not a motor burn out... other than that however the mower is quite good. The first time the engine stalls out completely it's best to stop your battery health will thank you in the long run. Running it past the first BMS (Battery Management System) auto shut down will effect your pocket in the long run.

That's incredible. A battery operated mower is getting closer to being a viable option for a homeowner's small yard. At $500, plus another $250 for a second battery (it only comes with 1 battery), and another $500 worth of batteries in 5 years, it's still quite expensive. Also, the fact that it can ruin on 1 battery, means it's most likely putting the batteries in parallel. So that means you can't add a second battery at a later date, and you must buy a second battery that is the same capacity as the one that comes with your mower.
@norjg5975 жыл бұрын
Ego sells two 21 inch self propelled models. One comes with two 5 Ah batteries, and this is the type Stan has. The other only uses one battery and it comes with one 7.5 Ah battery, which is the one I have. There may be other models I am not aware of but I believe whichever model you buy comes with the required battery/batteries so you should not have to buy another. The exception would be the mower that comes without any battery or charger. Why do you think you will have to buy new batteries in 5 years? Typical Li-Ion batteries are good for 1,000 full discharges. Based on one recharge every week, that is about 20 years. I suspect the battery won't last that long but I hope it runs longer than 5 years for residential uses. Ego uses a fan-cooled charger that should keep the battery running longer. The Home Depot site says "Combines the power of any 2 batteries for unrivaled performance" so you do not have to buy an identical battery. It can be a different capacity than the first battery.

Not gonna lie, I’m pretty impressed The think wet grass is pretty much what I deal with all the time, especially this year, in western Pa That thing lasted about twice as long as I expected, and looked to deal with the wet grass nearly as good as a gas push mower Curious how well these will do when they age, as in will it need replacement batteries in a few years (speaking of that, how much are replacement batteries, and being that I’ve ran into this problem with my drill, how long will they make this battery? They seem to change the size and shape of batteries quite often and would hate to need replacement batteries and not be able to get them (had to buy a whole new drill as batteries for my less than 10 year old drill are no longer made...) Would have liked to see how the underside of the deck looked after all of that, and what the charge times for the batteries were, but otherwise you nailed this video!

The problem with battery are once they discharge and change so many times they won't hold a charge as long and will need to be replaced. I'm guessing they're not cheap.

i like it. do you need to remove the batteries to charge them ? i have a friend with parkinson's and he insists on cutting his own grass he gets mad at me when i mow it he says its his therapy. i dont think he could move around batteries that large.
