The case is a great looking chassis for any build and the included 4 rainbow fans look great. But notice that i said "rainbow" fans, not addressable RGB fans.
That is because they are just that rainbow effect LED 12v molex case fans. There is NO WAY to adjust the colours - and i have looked into it!
The same goes for the RPM on the fans. 12v full blast is it. no DC or PWM control. Just full blast which for some might be a deal breaker. They ARE LOUD registering around 50db inside the case and upper 40's around a metre / 3 foot away.
Headphones users will be fine, but others in the same room not so much.
This is a shame as the case looks great and has most if not all the features you would expect froma modern PC case. tempered glass with a cute etched logo, a semi enclosed PSU basement for cable storage and adding drives.
The 95% mesh front certainly will allow a lot of airlfow and the rear mounted 120mm fan is poised in a great place to exhaust any heat build ups.
Overall the case is as you would expect from a budget offering. Good features, just a slightly lacking in the overall finish and quality.
My personal feeling would be to reduce the voltage going to the fans to 5v rather than 12v and they should be a lot quieter, but also a lot less bright.
Overall for the price i don't have many real complaints, £28 plus postage is great, and even if you switch out the fans for a quieter set like the arctic f12 value pack you are only just over the £40 mark which in 2020 still ins't a lot for an ATX midi tower case with fans.

Hi Mike. You touched on the main reasons I hate fans that come with a case, and why I prefer to select my own fans. The case itself looks good for the price, if you like the typical rectangle single chambered box. Cases of this type is why I don't mind paying $200 to $300 for a case.

So little space on the backside makes this a troublesome cable layout/management issue, 3mm is not much room at all. I prefer at least 25mm or 1 inch as offered on some more expensive cases, it does pay off in the long term imo. As your review goes in deeper, it occurs that this case is not worth it , I am more and more inclined to poo poo this case, a few more $ will provide a better solution for longer term I think However I appreciate your review Mike, thanks!

Would like to see you do the 5V or 7V mod on the fans to see how they sound and look. You could probably use some needle nose pliers on the fans molex plugs to rearrange the pins maybe?

the pins are locked in and the plastic housing seems very secure. but i'll find a way :-)

@@mikesunboxing Yeah, usually though the molex pins are held into the plastic with a couple of prongs (look down the female end of the plug and you can see the prongs on each pin). Given a small enough tool (oo er), it's possible to squeeze the prongs and release the pin. There's some 'crimpage' going on, so it involves uncrimping and then squeezing back together once the wires are moved, but you end up with a nice clean job (shame Maplin closed because they had all the kit to make Molex connections). Alternatively (as someone else mentioned) buy a molex extension cable and butcher it. At least this way you don't butcher your PSU cables (nor the fan molex connectors).

@@mikesunboxing Just dug out an old 12v fan to test it was as easy as I remember. Simply unhook the prongs, slide out the pins, re-arrange and slot the pins back in. Takes about 5 mins tops. 12v to 5v easy. If you want 7v (which should be fine, but 5v is probably OK anyway), simply re-arrange the pins when you put them back in. You'd need to do this for all 4 fan molex plugs. Easy peasy - no uncrimping necessary. If the black fan plugs are wired awkwardly (i.e. through the plastic) grab a £2 molex extension cable and re-wire that which would also save you having to do all 4 fans.

You don't even need to mod the cable - just plug the molex connector in upside down! (Never do this with a hard drive! 😂) Takes a bit of force but not too bad. These fans run great on 5V

Not my favourite looking case in terms of front panel design, but it seems to have you would need from a ATX case, and with a mesh front panel, tempered glass and 4 included RGB fans at this price point makes this case a really good deal. It would be awesome if you took a look at 1st player's mATX case, DK d3 because that seems like an interesting mATX case for the money and it seems to have similar tooling to the kolink citadel mesh

I had this case in black and the fans are NOISY, I fixed by getting a molex to molex extender, took out the 12v lead and moved the 5v lead over to the 12v side. RGB works fine and quiet as a mouse with the fans spinning much slow. It no longer pumps through copious amount of air with this mod but it's much more practical. No risk of damaging anything with the 12v line removed from the adapter. Its a tidy looking case.

@@zalankhan5743 I didn't notice a big drop in airflow, but a massive improvement in the nose, I think I moved the pins on the extender rather than the fan.

@@zalankhan5743 no it's easy to do, there are some small tabs on the connector that stop them being pulled out, you need to get a thing screwdriver to push these tabs in then you can pull the pins out and swap. Be careful, you don't want to sent 12v to a 5v device, it will wreck any 5v, I would suggest cutting off the 12v wire to be sure it's the yellow wire, red is the 5v wire. No need to do anything with the black ground wires.

DK D3 is pink but its micro ATX and a coolermaster H500 ripoff. I bought 2x- 1stP R3-A cases a couple of month back to do cheap builds in, they have like 3 RGB stripes down the front. They where soooooooo cheap with tempered glass I could not resist, but mock up CAD images on website did the things far too much justice. A big issue with them is the stand offs in that super thin fixed panel. Mine where driven in hard and a nightmare to remove destroying the the thread as the metal was so thin. I think I aired my thoughts in a previous post with you. Seems like those super tiny ribbon cable only management areas is a thing now....not just 1stP seen a few other brands using that terrible material saving / cost cutting measure. PS you used to be able get a 7.5v reducer block to add to that molex orgy don't know if they still do them not seen one in a few years.

@@mikesunboxing Yeah just had a look through my molex orgy box think my last one got used in a build 2013. I did find a flou tube, balast and molex wired switch in there (good for power dips on the PSU to make your PC crash turning it on or off) a few naff fans and thats about it left in that tub now its near empty. I ended up ordering 2x rev200 cases from amazon warehouse one with a bit of cosmetic damage £127 (I will have 3x 3.5 bays) just waiting for the new year to buy the rest of of it now. BLESS YOU SIR

This case had a lot of potential but the molex fans and the very tight backpanel cable management room mean this is a no from me. I think for an extra £20 the MSI MAG FORGE 100M is a better option or even the ions kz08 case would be better for a build for same price.

I see from the specs its 190mm {w} I have limited TV stand width and wish to lay this desktop style my current case just fits at 196-197mm, do you think the thumb screws will add much width/height if this was laid horizontally?

@@mikesunboxing Ended up scrapping all the TV stand research and moving some bits around, ended up deciding, tower by the TV and purchased a Corsair 4000d AF on offer at £60. thoroughly glad I re-assessed, this case is quality, also got a lot of cable reduction and management in case and TV wise. Well chuffed now - still had to but some RGB fans, small price to pay.

I don't know why 1ST Player always included an RGB LED button on the cases when there is no RGB controller :) But AeroCool is the opposite side. They always have an RGB controller embedded into the RGB LED strip or fans but there is no LED button on the cases and they always use the Reset button :) So, on 1StPlayer you have one pointless button, on AeroCool you have no Reset button if you want to do a hard restart..... Yeah... logic.....

In the end i soldered a resistor from a 3 to 4 pin fan header converter into the 12V wire of a molex extension.. it stopped the fans completely, so i'll have to find a less powerful resistor. I can't swap the 5V and 12V wires around on the molex because the 5V is powering the RGB.. it's for the fans on an AvP Quasar case. Good airflow from mesh front the molex power means full speed / much woosh + some low frequency resonance
