Wow, I been waiting for someone to react to Stevie Wright's Evie. And I must say with the words right in front of you, that you were so upbeat and happy during part 3. It's about Evie dying after giving birth to their child, it's the saddest song ever.

Stevie Wright was previously in The Easybeats with George Young & Harry Vanda who wrote this for him. George’s younger brother Malcolm Young of AC/DC fame does the guitar solo in part 1; Harry Vanda does the guitar solo in part 3. This song was huge in Australia and I reckon it must be in the top 3 Aussie rock songs ever. All those guys I mentioned above except Harry Vanda have now passed away sadly.

Holy shit you did the whole thing. The song in three parts that predates Bohemian Rhapsody. Shame Stevie struggled so much with addiction, and it ultimately cost his life. Song written by famed Aus duo Harry Vanda and George Young (brother of Angus & Malcolm from AC/DC)

Stevie Wright was truly a LEGEND here in Australia. The Easybeats and Stevie absolutely KILLED it when I was a kid. Stupendous sounds and monster energy. If you look at his 'Black Eyed Bruiser' song, you will realise where Bon Scott and AC/DC got their sound. ps Stevie and the Easybeats had George Young (older brother of Angus). Vanda and Young did a slew of killer hits. I have never got over Evie 1,2,3 - still one of the greatest rock songs in history.

This comes on in the car, the windows go down, the volume up, until I start to cry with the death of Evie during childbirth. Destroys me every time. His vocal is so desperate and emotional. It's the juxtaposition of the upbeat music to such lyrics of despair that make this genius

I never knew till years later that this is what the ending of the song was about. I was under the misapprehension that she and the child walked out of his life, lost love sort of thing. It now makes perfect sense right at the end when the piano goes wonky, it's him losing his mind. A much deeper song in retrospect.

You just brought back my youth , this was my great go to song to listen to while driving to work , it was just long enough to last the journey from home to work . Stevie was the over the top flamboyant front man for the Australian band The Easybeats . If you haven't heard of them have a listen . Stevie unfortunately succumbed to an addiction and died before his time .it was tragic to watch I prefer to remember him as the cheeky full of himself young singer who had the girls screaming and throwing themselves at him . Stevie was lead singer in The Easybeats, and their world wide hit "Friday On My Mind" is a classic song, you should do a reaction video to that. Stevie was a great showman on stage and the group sounded better live than on recordings. I saw them live in pubs in Oz and they were brilliant......

That was '84 I think and I was a 20 year old hoon listening to the Angels/ACDC/Oils etc. Would have ruined my street cred at the time LOL.I secretly listened to Mondo Rock and a lot of the New Romantic stuff like Tears for Fears, Ultravox, Real Life. But not in the Kingswood though, I wouldn't do that.

It was more pub rock for me, The Sports, Chisel, Midnight Oil, You am I . And you could go and see free bands at the middle hotel on Saturday Arvo. Which could be anyone from INXS to Hunters and Collectors. I wanna do it all again so bad!!!

Another Aussie legend I know you would Love is Russel Morris. He had several soft rock /pop hits in the seventies.. Over the last decade or so he has put our a string of blues albums. Yay, you did the whole thing!!! I've been so hoping someone would start reacting to him!! A story in 3 parts: falling in love, starting a family, her demise. At the time (1974) this was the biggest selling Australian single of the year, also it was the longest (at about 11 mins) to hit number 1 anywhere in the world. Stevie is a legend here in Oz - got his start as lead singer for the 60s band The Easybeats, then had a second career as a solo artist in the 70s (this song was co-written by Vanda & Young, former fellow Easybeats band members who went on to be an iconic songwriting partnership - George Young being the older brother of AC/DC's Malcom and Angus Young). If you want to do more Stevie Wright, I'd suggest: Black Eyed Bruiser (1975) or maybe from his 60s Easybeats days: Sorry or St. Louis or Friday On My Mind.

Hey Matt thanks for reacting to Aussie legends. Sorry that the lyrics were wrong in one important verse that told you what was happening. At 9:45 the lyrics should have been "one's BORN every minute, every hour, every day". He's being told there are problems with the childbirth and Evie is slipping away despite every effort. Sadly Evie dies but I've never found out if the child survives. Sad, but it does happen.

Oh, for The Easybeats their biggest hit was Friday on my Mind; Another hit was Good Times and a cover of that was done by Barnesy & INXS (another Aussie group you should cover) . Vanda & Young was a monster songwriting and production team in Oz and many many people have done their songs, including John Paul Young with Love is in the Air.

I don't think you got it then (I'm sure you've read the comments by now) and realized when he said he was losing her, she wasn't leaving him for someone else, she died after giving birth to their child.
