Cold Chisel is a very loved Aussie band. Ian Moss is the guy on the guitar, he's the other singer in Chisel. I grew up listening to Chisel and I cherish them to this day. My kids love them too, my husband and I play them all the time. Australia has so many amazing talented singers that sadly don't get heard by the rest of the world. You should also check out Ice House, Australian Crawl, Men at Work, 1927, Dragon.....the list goes on. Love your appreciation for our home grown artists', keep the videos coming.

You know what I love? Cold Chisel went to America and was told Americans wouldn’t ‘get them’. Particularly Jimmy and his ‘screaming.’ (You’ve got nothing I want was written in response. 2022? Proves those music executives wrong! Time and time again I see Americans saying ‘why am I just hearing about them now?’ Because the suits said NO! That’s why 😜 I’ve also noticed African Americans having a huge connection with him, which is interesting, because he named his daughter after a gospel African American singer he watched because he resonated with the feeling of the movie. Keep in mind he is Scottish originally and still in 2022 they don’t control their own land, so that soul is worldwide pending on the life your exposed to! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Tell me any other band you know that has two INCREDIBLE lead vocalists and where EVERY member of the band can and has written songs. Jimmy is the usual lead vocalist for Cold Chisel but many of their songs were sung by both him and Ian Moss or even a few by Mossy alone. This song was written by the late Steve Prestwich (drummer).. RIP.

Why you noticed such a varied age group of people in the audience is because Cold Chisel has been around since the 70's, and most of the older people are fans from that era. Then, you've got their children that would've grown up listening to Cold Chisel via their parents, and became fans also. But, Cold Chisel are a kick arse band anyway, so they appeal to all ages, really.

@@CVTECK1 yes. And Cold Chisel are that type of band that alot of their songs are embedded into our psyche, and somebody always has a story or feeling that is triggered by one of their iconic songs. And with Jimmy Barnes...he has gone onto becoming a best seller author of 3 books....2 of which were biografies about his extremely violent, abusive childhood, and the 2nd about his addictions into adulthood as a result. He has also co wrote a childrens book and audio book. So...as well as continuing to still pump out awesome music...he is an incredibly, honest, grit and bones, hide nothing, author. He is a Scotsman, after all, from Glasgow, so...very sincere and pulls no punches....just as us Aussies are...! Glad you've stumbled upon the Cold Chisel train and the Legend that is Jimmy Barnes. And also The Voice....John Farnham. Your welcome.....

Cold Chisel did go to America in the late 70's? I think and came up against the American music industry who tried to get the band to play to a 'formula'. Cold Chisel would not compromise their ethics & their conviction that they knew what was right for them. What resulted is the very gritty song You got nothing I want. About When the War is over, well isn't Ian Moss awesome in this song. I just love his voice, it's so distinctive & blends so well with Jimmy's. Bow River from this concert is also fantastic. Great reaction mate.

Jimmy and Ian Moss are joint lead singers, when one is lead the other becomes back up. Jimmy is as big now as he was in the 70,s 80,s,90,s,2000,s 2010,s and has just released a new album and has just played concerts all around Australia and New Zealand. At 66 year's of age he still sounds bloody incredible. Here are two song's that he released a couple of months ago Soothe Me with Sam Moore, and Do you love me with Josh Teskey. Sam Moore is from a group called Sam and Dave he is a legend in America in the Blues and Soul music from I think the 50,s 60,s. Josh Teskey is another Australian singer.

I first heard this song when it was covered by John Farnham as part of his Classic Jack live concert. It took me some time to realise it wasnt about war, but instead about the ending of a relationship, probably a marriage and was the singer pouring out their feelings about the situation. Years later I found this version, the original so to speak and it is even more moving because of the raw emotion put into the song by the rasp of Jimmy Barnes and the mournful voice of Ian Moss. When my wife ended our marriage about 4 years ago this song took on an even more powerful meaning and still today brings a lump to my throat. Fantastic song and great reaction. John Pouw NZ

Jimmy's album Working Class Man was produced by Jonathan Cain who is the Keyboardist for the famous American band Journey and he actually wrote one of Jimmy's biggest hits "Working Class Man"

Good catch on the younger audience members. Theres people in the audience being moved to tears by a song that was released before they were born. The name of the song is a bit misleading, the ‘War’ is actually the ending of a relationship, not an actual military action. Its not overstating it to say that cold chisel are absolute cultural icons in Australia. They hit home in a very personal way with their lyrics, the songs are very much about and part if the Australian experience, of loss, longing and hope - something that pretty much everyone can connect with on some level.

Written by the band's Drummer , Steve Prestwich (rip), about the aftermath of a relationship failing , ending in Divorce, packing up and starting again. Cold Chisel has two Lead Vocals Ian Moss, the first singer in this song and obviously Jimmy Barnes. There have a repertoire of songs broaching subjects across the board. They were invited to the USA to meet a recording studio executive, that wanted them to kowtow to them and sign pretty much indentureship agreements " SLAVE " to the man crap. The bands response when they arrived back in Australia was to Release " You got nothing I Want - You got nothing I Need " and as such Cold Chisels music was not aired in the USA.

I fell a bit sorry for Mossy ending up in a band with Jimmy. He's so talented & in any other band he'd be on lead vocals but not when you've got a Jimmy in the mix 😄

This song was released back in 1982, both Ian Moss and Jimmy sang in Cold Chisel since its inception. This is a pared back version as the original rocked a bit harder. I prefer earlier versions myself.

Love Barnsey and Ian. Incredible musicians. You asked where this song takes me and it takes me and it take me to a level I don't even know how to explain. I feel it with every ounce of my being and it elicits a whole range of emotions. Happiness, sadness and everything in between. Amazing song. Has always been one of my favourites. Enjoyed your reaction to Aussie music thank you :) Just subscribed x

Great seeing blokes like this finding out about Oz bands , who have their own sound without the hairspray bullshit of big American bands , starts as clic’s & ends up being privy to some of the greatest music on the planet with its own Oz micro culture.

@@CVTECK1 all good my man. One thing I’ll say, which people outside of Australia don’t really understand is that the big four of Australian rock music is: AC/DC, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, and INXS. Cold Chisel never went to the US market because they didn’t “fit in” with what was popular when they were breaking in the early 80s, and I think Midnight Oil are very unapologetically Australian in their songwriting, which probably means that they don’t hit the same internationally. That said, I know plenty of people who would swear Cold Chisel is the greatest band of all time, and a few who say the same of Midnight Oil. It always blows my mind that rock fans in America in particular have virtually no knowledge of Cold Chisel or Midnight Oil given how huge they are here (still!)
