Cold Chisel is a very loved Aussie band. Ian Moss is the guy on the guitar, he's the other singer in Chisel. I grew up listening to Chisel and I cherish them to this day. My kids love them too, my husband and I play them all the time. Australia has so many amazing talented singers that sadly don't get heard by the rest of the world. You should also check out Ice House, Australian Crawl, Men at Work, 1927, Dragon.....the list goes on. Love your appreciation for our home grown artists', keep the videos coming.

You know what I love? Cold Chisel went to America and was told Americans wouldn’t ‘get them’. Particularly Jimmy and his ‘screaming.’ (You’ve got nothing I want was written in response. 2022? Proves those music executives wrong! Time and time again I see Americans saying ‘why am I just hearing about them now?’ Because the suits said NO! That’s why 😜 I’ve also noticed African Americans having a huge connection with him, which is interesting, because he named his daughter after a gospel African American singer he watched because he resonated with the feeling of the movie. Keep in mind he is Scottish originally and still in 2022 they don’t control their own land, so that soul is worldwide pending on the life your exposed to! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Why you noticed such a varied age group of people in the audience is because Cold Chisel has been around since the 70's, and most of the older people are fans from that era. Then, you've got their children that would've grown up listening to Cold Chisel via their parents, and became fans also. He has also co wrote a childrens book and audio book. So...as well as continuing to still pump out awesome music...he is an incredibly, honest, grit and bones, hide nothing, author. Cold Chisel did go to America in the late 70's? I think and came up against the American music industry who tried to get the band to play to a 'formula'. Cold Chisel would not compromise their ethics & their conviction that they knew what was right for them. What resulted is the very gritty song You got nothing I want. About When the War is over, well isn't Ian Moss awesome in this song. I just love his voice, it's so distinctive & blends so well with Jimmy's. Bow River from this concert is also fantastic. If you can find it, the Documentary / music video concert 'The Last Stand' is a great insight to the power and the passion that was Cold Chisel at their original peak.
I first heard this song when it was covered by John Farnham as part of his Classic Jack live concert. It took me some time to realise it wasnt about war, but instead about the ending of a relationship, probably a marriage and was the singer pouring out their feelings about the situation. Years later I found this version, the original so to speak and it is even more moving because of the raw emotion put into the song by the rasp of Jimmy Barnes and the mournful voice of Ian Moss. When my wife ended our marriage about 4 years ago this song took on an even more powerful meaning and still today brings a lump to my throat. Fantastic song and great reaction. John Pouw NZ

Good catch on the younger audience members. Theres people in the audience being moved to tears by a song that was released before they were born. The name of the song is a bit misleading, the ‘War’ is actually the ending of a relationship, not an actual military action. Its not overstating it to say that cold chisel are absolute cultural icons in Australia. They hit home in a very personal way with their lyrics, the songs are very much about and part if the Australian experience, of loss, longing and hope - something that pretty much everyone can connect with on some level.

Written by the band's Drummer , Steve Prestwich (rip), about the aftermath of a relationship failing , ending in Divorce, packing up and starting again. Cold Chisel has two Lead Vocals Ian Moss, the first singer in this song and obviously Jimmy Barnes. There have a repertoire of songs broaching subjects across the board. They were invited to the USA to meet a recording studio executive, that wanted them to kowtow to them and sign pretty much indentureship agreements " SLAVE " to the man crap. The bands response when they arrived back in Australia was to Release " You got nothing I Want - You got nothing I Need " and as such Cold Chisels music was not aired in the USA.

@@CVTECK1 all good my man. One thing I’ll say, which people outside of Australia don’t really understand is that the big four of Australian rock music is: AC/DC, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, and INXS. Cold Chisel never went to the US market because they didn’t “fit in” with what was popular when they were breaking in the early 80s, and I think Midnight Oil are very unapologetically Australian in their songwriting, which probably means that they don’t hit the same internationally. That said, I know plenty of people who would swear Cold Chisel is the greatest band of all time, and a few who say the same of Midnight Oil. It always blows my mind that rock fans in America in particular have virtually no knowledge of Cold Chisel or Midnight Oil given how huge they are here (still!)

My 3 favourite bands are Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Cold Chisel. That gives you an indication of how highly i rate them. All 3 bands barely have one bad song between them.
