I had a similar combo as Uncle Mark in the late 70's in a 69 Chevelle SS. 427, tunnel ram with a single 1150 dominator carb, mushroom tappet cam, 12.5:1, square port heads, Muncie M22, and a 4.88 gear. It ran 6.14 in the 1/8th with basically no interior other than seats and dash...

2 things Bill. First, I have a new found respect for Chumpo and that ‘55. 12:5 to 1 427 w/ a solid flat tappet ain’t no joke. Second, and you may be aware, but there are some weld in upper and lower rear control arm braces / gussets available for G body’s that strengthen the frame mounting points. I installed them on my ‘86 T-Type.
