Commuterline's route Jakarta kota-Bogor, Jakarta kota-Bekasi, you can use straight train but when you want to take route to Tangerang/Duri/Tanah Abang you should transit in Manggarai Station and change the train. Cause Manggarai Station is in the central of Jakarta and central point from Bekasi/Bogor/ to travel around Jkt, known by Jabodetabek (satellite city of Jakarta). Jkt population is 9-10 million but with satellite city can more than 20 million people. That's why cars & motorcycle is everywhere. In work hour Commuterline quite empty but in the morning & afternoon full. Luckily train arrive every 15-30 minutes. Yes, most Indonesian train donate and buy from Japan. But Indonesia also have the train industry, we export to Afrika.

Yea it is confusing for first timers to navigate through the railways, you often have to change trains to get to certain places. I am not an Anker, so I may be confused as you are Nick.

Jakarta's commuter line is quite easy if you look on its map (there must be somewhere in the station). There are several lines differentiate with colour. On that map you can see the interchanging station and the stations you will meet in your trip. If the colour is different, it means you have to change train at that station. Be aware of the speaker because sometimes they don't go until the very last station (in this case you have to change the train on the same line) so be careful.

you should try to transit on manggarai station by Central Line (Jakarta kota - Bogor). they just renovated the station and it is amazing. they were right about the line, if you want to go to sarinah (which i know closely to HI) you have to take sudirman/karet station because you can just walk right to sarinah without ordering the uber. and you have to change the train at manggarai station if you want to go to Loop Line (Angke - Bogor) where sudirman/karet station located

Great video sir. The condition in covid very different that before that, you can find ads in train. Train was packed with people like in Tokyo (like sardines, and some pusher like in tokyo). The station will have more people and street food in front of the station, but yeah it different now. For history and trainset The train in jakarta already exist in 1890 and tram is one decade earlier. By 1925 it was already matured, but at the time the Colonial government started electrification of rail line and first is in Tanjung Priok to Djatinegara station not Jakarta Kota. The jabodetabek rail system was fully electrified today. The trainset came from japan and it was ex second hands buy and not donated from japan except the first and only one donated in 2000 that already became scrap (Toei Metro 6000). Today mostly was ex JR 205 that still operating in Japan in some suburb line or second class line, or Tokyo Metro 6000 and 7000 that until 3 month before shipment still operating in Chuo and Fukutoshin line in Tokyo metro. So it was not so bad and very cheap. Our system was still far from perfect but we keep improving and it was in better condition than 2010 era.

This was super interesting! Classic Japanese train carts without ads really is spot on. I had no idea! I went to Jakarta first and then to Japan and definitely didn't notice it - probably because the ads in Japan are so distracting haha
@skyejamss2 жыл бұрын
Instead, they place the ads outside of the train cars as you can see on the bunch of photos of KRLs. But not only ads, but historical things are painted on the cars, for example, last year on 17th of august was the independence day or the current G20 2022 Bali, the KRL company celebrated it by painting like, yknow, artworks and stuff on it, and this has been happening years and years before. Though it's starting to become uncommon to see ads and things painted on the trains, so I'm not sure if they're continuing this tradition (trust me, my current school is like, literally next to a railway)
@kaikart1232 жыл бұрын
Used to be full of ads too in the inside before the whole covid thing
@kelanarasha71862 жыл бұрын

Hi Nick, Train is not yet good for transport to be used in Indonesia, the system and management are still disorganised, hmm…I think the transport system/management in Indonesia is still disorganised, lack of instruction/guides, comfort, safety etc at the moment so I suggest you better use a grab, gojek or gocar for your travel or taxi/cab if you are planning to explore intercity-near places. You even can hire the car+driver for US$30-40whole day in car rental - can take you wherever you want and they will wait for you- No hassle. It will cost you more but they are more convenient for you while travelling or exploring. The purpose of holiday/travel we want to treat ourself for something enjoyable/comfort/safe, right??But, is your choice if you prefer to do like you have done- well keep going mate…😉 Stay safe and enjoy your holiday in Indo..

it is Japanese train, they gave us so much old trains because in Japan if you want to "recycle" the train you have to pay so much expensive, they're like "who wants these trains?" and Indonesia just paid for the shipping. it doesn't mean Indonesia can't make train, we made it and also exporting train. because the demand is so high and need a fast "new trains" if we make new train it really takes a long time to cover all this city needs and it's cheaper than making a new one, as we know Japan has a very good quality in everything (of course we checked the trains and everything in Japan before the shipping) it's 11am 😂😂 no one is going back from school or office at that time of course empty. just don't try it in the morning or evening it's sooo packed with people just the same as Japan rush hour train
