Exploring the Rainbow Village of Malang, Indonesia🇮🇩

In the heart of Malang lies the beautiful village of Kampung Warna-Warni. Once considered one of Indonesia's biggest slums, now attracts tourists from all over to come and explore the narrow paths and admire the beautiful colors and artwork that decorate this little village. This was one place I knew I had to come to check out while in Indonesia, and luckily I found it in Malang. The village is super clean, the people are all friendly and welcoming, it truly is a wonderful place to come and visit. You can tell the people here have so much pride in the small little colorful community that they've created. Join me as I enter this magical place and meet the beautiful faces that call this place home.

Just a quick update, I’m OK, I left East Java about a week ago and I’m now safe and sound in Bali. I appreciate everyone reaching out to me expressing their concern for my safety. It is so sad to to see what is happening in Malang and at the Rainbow Village. I was heartbroken to find out two people had lost their lives in the beautiful village I had just visited. Stay strong Malang, you’ll be in my mind and heart today 🙏

Warna = one color (single version) Warna-warni = many colors (plural version). 19:41 : "Sedikit mau makan.." => you could say "Boleh cicip?" This synonym as "Can I have a taste?" 23:08 : "The mosque, where people pray". Just a heads up Nick. Small size mosque, like this one, is called Mushalla (moo-s-ala). They have different function. Shalat Jum'at (Friday Noon Pray) couldn't be held on Mushalla, it must be held on Mosque /Masjid (must-gee-d). Enjoy the trip Nick..👍🏽👍🏽

KZbin recommendation brought me here, and you just got a new subs here! Your personality and interaction with the locals makes everything so much fun to watch. I love your perspective and outlook about the experience that you've had. I didn't expect it when you start speaking in Bahasa Indonesia, that was a nice surprise. Oh, I'll leave you some tips here. I don't know if you had already understand "permisi" concept (the meaning could vary from excuse me to Hello). But I think it'd be more appropriate to call out to strangers with that phrase. Especially towards elderly, if you didn't want to come off as rude towards them. Or you could also use this local dialect "monggo" (pronounced similar to Mongolian without lian). It can be a nice trick as an ice breaker with the locals. Will be looking forward to see your next videos. Take care.

Same in Semarang. There is a hillside kampung in Semarang behind Pasar Bunga near Rumah Sakit Kariadi that is a mass of colours like this in Malang. Great initiative from the Locals. So vibrant! The Locals are so friendly! Now I want to go back and see Malang again because it has been to long since I went there. CHEERS!
