This is one of my fave Sci-fi movies for one very simple reason: IT'S FUN!! Haven't you missed Fun, in the films of the last ten years or so?! Everybody really seemed to be having a ball making this film and it shows. Witty, fun script, good effects and the actors having fun, great story, awesome soundtrack with lots of ELO...what more do you need?!

If you can get hold of it, the British TV series "Spaced" for more Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. On the surface it's a sitcom about two people sharing a flat in London, but it has loads of SF and cult TV references all the way through. There's a mode on the DVD that lists all of the callbacks as they come up.

The location they went to Devils Mountain is a famous scene in Close Encounters of the third kind it's a Stephen Spielberg movie Richard Dreyfuss Stars in it. And the line "get away from her you bitch" was a line Sigourney Weaver used in Aliens, I recommend you watch both movies.....but if you watch Aliens which is a sequel to Alien you'll need to watch, also with Sigourney Weaver.

Surprised that you didn't recognise Sigourney Weaver (Ripley) from the Alien films playing the mysterious leader. I'd recommend Simon Pegg and Derren Brown clip (Not too long) of Simon be mind manulation performed on him. Then once you have discovered Derren Brown you will be down a whole new rabbit hole. Hero at 30,000 Feet is a good one to start with.

Don't worry, we have the legal term 'Alien' here too. My mum was classed as an alien when she was born in Germany on a British base to English parents.
@Penddraig7
@Penddraig7 11 ай бұрын
We know what alien means, it’s not a derogatory term and it’s not used for non white people who are illegal immigrants, it refers to anybody from another country, illegal alien is used for an illegal immigrant and again, it’s not derogatory, the word alien literally means belonging to a foreign country, it comes from the Latin alienus meaning belonging to another which comes from the Latin Alius meaning other which comes from the Welsh word All meaning other.

One of my favourite weekends ever was at a star wars conversation dressed as a sith with the full black robes and red and yellow contact lenses 😂 I always wanted to do it but it wasn't such a thing here in the UK when I was a kid. We didn't even do Halloween like you American's growing up. I was nervous as hell leaving my hotel dressed like that and even though me and my friend had a laugh with it we were totally mocked by a group who were drinking in the hotel bar. Once we were in the conversation though it was fantastic and had an absolute blast.

I have a silly question, as a British person! Hotel rooms, in the UK: "Single" = one person one bed. "Double" = two people one bed. "Twin" = two people two beds. But it's not the same in America, is it?! In Stranger Things, two characters ask for a hotel room, and the woman on the counter asks "single or double", and they both shout "double!" and jump apart - but that would be one bed in the UK!!
