@@ChuckCassadyYT I enjoy these types of bus build breakdowns. You were very respectful towards this builder. I think these type vids will do well for first time builders. I highly doubt, I will ever build a bus/van converstion but, you never know and your videos provide a wealth of info even for those that wont build one. When is your bus build finish date? Take care.

Caleb/Gingium is a very talented self taught fabricator. stoked you found this video, i kind of forgot about the adventure bus series haha. if i remember correctly they used plasti dipp for the exterior paint, so no scuffing is needed. not the best choice, but at the time he was really into plasti-dipping all of his cars hahaha. also he built this as a "tow rig" so he could get his cars to and from the track and have somewhere to sleep for multi day events. thanks for all these videos. Ive for sure made some mistakes in my bus, but Ive been trying to correct them and not make anymore since you started your channel.

I've been watching many bus conversion/tour videos and white seems to be extremely popular which, as someone who has done lots of living while traveling in a van, sand + dirt move in with you. I don't understand why people would decorate in white to live in nature (or a city) full time. As I said, I've been watching many bus build videos, but when the time comes to convert my future bus, your instruction will be all I follow Chuck. Thanks again.

I can't remember which video I watched that you said something about how a mistake you see people making is to not remove all of the things that were in the vehicle before they start their build. I recently got a 1975 Ford Econoline that was built into a camper van (I know, but the vehicle is actually in great shape -- my mechanic was shocked). I got it from this guy who was going to build it out, but then his father-in-law bought him a nice new Transit. He'd just put a floor in to the Econoline, and had put a couple solar panels on top. I thought, "This guy seems trustworthy. It's just the floor. It's probably fine. I'll leave it." Today I was pulling up a little to see if there was anything underneath that I could drill into to set up my framing in a tricky corner. And I found a few fun things 1. The floor was not actually wood like he claimed. 2. There was a massive amount of mold on the subfloor (which he SCREWED into the floor of the van creating a bunch of holes) 3. The "insulation" he claimed to put in was that thin white mesh-y stuff that electronics sometimes come in. 4. There was rust and some rusted through holes in the bottom of the van, along with his screw holes. I'm so glad I found it all now as much as I'm not looking forward to how much time that's going to add to my build. Regardless, I hereby renew my pledge to follow your advice. It's good advice.

Hi. Is it me who is missing something, but I don't see 1 but 2 batteries, and you are saying he has only 1! This bus has got thermal bridges all over with the way it is presently insulated. Insulation is the weak point of most builds I see. Your comments are always to the point. Good job.

Hi Chuck! Regarding charging the house batteries from the engine alternator. What if the bus was running dual alternators at 250 amps each. That would potentially (pun) give the house batteries 6kw to charge from or 3kw if only one alternator was connected to the house batteries. Is that sufficient? Thanks!

Good video! I've been running a 60amp DC-DC charger wired from the bus battery to the lithium battery. I made sure to size the charger for my lithium but I didn't really understand about the alternator demand and I think I may be frying it. I still don't really understand and have had trouble finding information on what sized alternator is recommended when having a powerful DC-DC charger. Chuck, do you have any info you could pass on? I wonder if I should get a more powerful alternator or a less powerful charger for the lithium. Anyways, thanks for all the great videos!

OSB is available in many percentages of resin. When the machines start up the thickness of the sheets can be off and can be tapered from end to end. We had the opportunity for many years to pick up skids of this material for $1 a sheet. There was so much resin in some of them, they could be drilled and tapped for bolts. Many shed, garages and animal shelters were build with this material 45 years ago. Many were simply coated with a used motor oil, diesel and powder stain. When I inquired I was told there were 10 different varieties of OSB. The high density OSB does not accept stain and has to be painted. People need to look at the R factor vs DELTA T. 3 inches of foam is not 3 times better than 1 inch. Why don't people put 3" on the wall? Is it because 3" is just as dumb on the walls and ceiling as it is on the floor? Recommended R values are R-13 for floors, R-13-21 for walls AND R30-49 for the roof. Look up how the US R-VALUE recommendation varies from area to area and elevation to elevation. We don't want to take up space with 6" insulation for Vail, CO. if we spend all our time in Quartzsite, AZ

I ran a rv park that allowed buses in the 1980's. Many times I watched young couple struggle with getting the seats out. little preschool tool kit was common. I would walk over with grinder and drill and help abit. Now buses are not allowed in many rv parks. Look up a book from 1970....Roll your own.......
