Man, if only those halls and waiting rooms could speak of the historical significance of departing friends or relatives or arrivals of same over the years.......

That is so true about the stories the halls and walls could tell if they could talk. That's true in almost any old building. I would give anything to hear what the walls could tell from my grandmother's and great grandmother's old homes. Here it would be interesting too.

Excellent update. Still think it's going to be really inefficient for Amtrak to use a reverse move to access the new location. I imagine the host railroad won't like it either if it delays their trains.

Thank you for taking the time to capture these trains at the original site of the Hamilton, Ohio train station after the two-story portion of the train station was moved to the train station's new location, Jaw Tooth. The first segment of the video was fascinating with the southbound CSX train and the northbound Norfolk Southern train coming on the opposite side of the CSX train. The other northbound Norfolk Southern trains were a bonus. The preparation work and the actual moving of the parts of the depot by the Wolfe Company is precision work.

When I saw that bobcat skid-steer loader next to the parked pickup truck, I realized how tiny it was in comparison to everything around it! Even the trucks on the Alco locomotives dwarfed it! And yet they still use them on construction sites everywhere! Haul rubbish away, grade dirt, dig trenches, they're pretty versatile machines. Good video Jaw Tooth! I hope you're planning on getting some live action footage of the move of the second part of the train station. I'd love to see that, even if it's a short clip.😊👍

"Like watching coal gons rust." Was the expression when I lived in Harlan County Kentucky (50 years ago). I've noticed that railfan shorts don't get a lot of likes pretty much across the board. The kind of people who view shorts might not be known for their attention span whereas people who watch railfan channels have to have a very long attention span. Sometimes 3 miles worth.

When Southern Pacific was going strong in California. They HAD a unusual train (not sure how many sets) of tank trains that were hosed together at the top part of the cars for loading and unloading of the oil. They were loaded just North of Bakersfield and went South to The City of Carson for Shell oil. It was temporary because they were putting in a pipeline between the two. At the end it was to just outside of the town of Mojave. The train was so heavy they would put 5-6 on the front 5-6 in the middle and some on the back. So you could have as many as 15 locomotives on one train. At the top of the grade 5 of them were removed and went back down towards Bakersfield for the next job. Most of the time they would be at Caliante. The train could take 1.5 MILLION BARRELS OF OIL!!! The tank cars were painted black. Your video reminds me of those. Steven Sipes

Did Amtrak did use the station before the move? If not, why would they use it after the move? The rehabilitation after the move will take months. Do the rehabilitation plans include Amtrak facilities? I expect Amtrak has no plans to use the relocated, rehabilitated station

@@davidwilson9612 If Amtrak wanted to use it as a station, it would have been left where it was, beside the tracks. The new location is too far from the tracks, on the other side of a road. Amtrak will probably just build a simple shelter beside the tracks.

Question: I suspect that these grain hopper cars are all full. They look to be weighed down on their trucks, and being pulled by three locomotives. Am I correct? If so are they bound for Eastern U.S. markets from Iowa, Nebraska, etc.

It is a blessing to know that much of our freight and grain shipped by rail. I know that it is more economical for the railroad system to haul more product at the same time but I do hate to have and sit for ten minutes to clear a crossing. We lived on the wrong side of. the tracks to get help for medical or fire services. I lived in southern Illinois and the railroad ran right through the community and there wasn't any way to get help if you needed medical attention in a hurry. We lived with the inconvenience for many years....

@@danielulz1640 Probably a well meaning local official looking for a community improvement project (that would also appeal to the voters!) but who had little knowledge or info on the workings of Amtrak, the railroad operations/business, etc. There are already station stops on route nearby just to West, Connersville, IN and to East, Cinci Union Station so for a train not even daily there is no economic justification for a stop at this location at this time.
