Self producing idols aren't that rare now. If a group isn't from one of the big three (SM, YG, JYP) then there's a high chance they play a big part in their music. Although Seventeen is probably the only very popular group that produces, composed and choreographs entirely on their own with minimal input from staff. PLEDIS was on the verge of bankruptcy when Seventeen debuted, but they were at MAMA within the year. I think it has everything to do with the promotion strategy as opposed to the amount of promoting. Seventeen appealed to a younger audience who had the time to be obsessive about them and were young enough that their parents would just buy their children whatever they wanted. Also, 24K's member lineup is also a big weak point. One of the most popular members is on hiatus, so I assume that he took SOME fans away with his absence. It's a shame, 24K deserves success
