Hey kelvin, I have a 1uz vvti looking to replace my vacuum canister and solenoid along with new air hoses. Do you know if the 3uz parts are interchangeable to use with the 1uz vvti motor? Lexus database says they are incompatible but I have a sneaking feeling it will do the job. I’d simply buy the correct factory part but they are nla in USA market.

I checked my vsv an it didn’t work…I think I’m going to mount this new one on top of the intake manifold for future easy repairs… I wonder now really do I have to pull the intake ? Maybe I can replumb the system on the top or on the fire wall ?

Good day Kelvin. A quick question on this. When do the solenoid get energized and when(rpm) do i remove the power supply to the solenoid
@CartuneNZ3 жыл бұрын
Stock ecu controls solenoid based on rpm, air flow and engine load. Power is controled via main relay so is on with key on, and remains for a few seconds afted key is turned off with stock ecu. Using dyno would find optimum switch point for trigger if using aftermarket ecu.
@rohanmuller49683 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kelvin. Currently run aftermarket MaxxECU. So the intake flap solenoid need power at low rpm to give you the longer route and when you reach a certain rpm it wil remove the power from the solenoid that shorten the air route as I understand from your videos with no vacume/default the valves is in the open position. Wil just get it on the dyno to get my sweetspot. With the MaxxECU have several options to controle the activation of the valve

Hey man, I really hope you happen to see this, or at least someone that knows the answer. I have a 99 Celsior imported engine and I'm still learning about it as I go about fitting it into my car. I've had the intake manifold off and I'm pretty certain that it hasn't been off in many years due to the crust and condition of the fasteners, and mine didn't have any sort of vacuum canister under the manifold, is that normal? do I need to find one? I know the JDM engines had that weird hydraulic fan and such so maybe they did things differently under the manifold?
@CartuneNZ Жыл бұрын
All 99 engines, being VVti should have the vacuum reservor under the intake from stock. Maybe someone has done something they shouldnt have done. Id recommend sorting it correctly. Cheers Kelvin

Is there a part number for the VSV? If the swing arm doesn't move when you start the car is that a good indicator that the ACIS system is not working?

Hey Kelvin Do you think that can cause a Vacuum a leak? I have a check engine light P0171 System Too Lean bank one. I did a Vacuum leak test with smoke and saw no leak with any hoses. I did see smoke come out under the intake manifold. I took off the manifold and the gaskets are basically new. I see no other thing other than the Asis Solenoid, could that be my issue?
@CartuneNZ3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely could be an issue. I replace heaps of them. I would smoke the hose which goes into the canister to check it and power solenoid

@@CartuneNZ Thank you. You are V8 guru 💪 I have ordered parts and hopefully my mechanics will sort it. They are firstly working on cambelt kit, then we need to look into P0430 Catalytic converter fault....and then VSV valve... so couple of things to sort out. The car has been hesitating sometimes between 2,5 - 3,5 k rpm and the goes like a storm... so hopefully new valve will cure it. Thanks again 👍

How do you run this on an aftermarket ecu, when would the solenoid turn on ?
@CartuneNZ3 жыл бұрын
Wire it to aftermarket ecu on auxiliary output. If you watched and understood the video it suggests its turned on at low rpm, and off at higher operation.
@justinae86man3 жыл бұрын
@@CartuneNZ yes I understand so auxiliary out put 12v on start up so the throttles inside close when should solenoid turn off so the throttles open or what rpm is the best
@CartuneNZ3 жыл бұрын
No , The ecu aux is normally an earth switch , power is supplied elsewhere. Depending on the ecus logic its best to try and copy stock ecu which switches based on load , so a calculation of TPS , air flow , and engine speed. The ideal switching point is best found by testing results on the dyno during tuning. If only using RPM which is not ideal the switch point will be between 4000 and 5500. Cheers
