This is a lesson to most House Shot league bowlers who would be much better served with a lower level ball like the Surge than the latest hook monster that tends to burn up or get trapped in over/under on the excessive friction of House Shots.

I throw a Hammer Raw. Works absolutely great on a house pattern.
@peteg475 Жыл бұрын
True, but still depends on your style and where you bowl. I'm speed dominant and my center's house shot is slick and the lanes have a reputation for being very tight. I throw something strong and aggressive that still hooks with speed and without a lot of hand, and that works great for me under those conditions.

I had two Tropical Surge balls, loved them both but I got rid of them because they were getting too light for me(they were both 12 pounds) and since then we’re getting too light I got two 14 pound balls, a Storm Hy-Road and a Roto Grip Uproar.

My primary ball.... and only ball since I started bowling. For me, definite problem with the bowler (inconsistency), not the ball.

I bought the emerald charcoal tropical surge on sale three months ago. Husband said don't waste your money, I said if it's no good I will use it as a spares ball. Thinking about buying a couple more just to have as spares. Now I have all these high dollar balls just sitting in my 4 ball bag, never being used.

There is something to be said about the higher amount of asymmetry in the ball with the thumb hole in it. With a ball that's lower level like this it affects the reaction a lot more. All that to say the "it's the ball" statements could have merit.

As a 2 hander I'm not real happy with my surge. Dont know if it is a layout issue or a axis rotation issue with 2 handers now. Look how much pin action difference there is between these guys shots. The 2 handed shots all seem to hit softer. My 20y old brunswick missle hits like a tank no matter where it hits. The surge only hits hard on a Brooklyn. It is also not a forgiving on dry lanes as surge suggests. Once I see some lane transition, mine will hook from the 3 to the left gutter. Not giving up yet, but close.

Have you messed with surface?
@ForrestKritzer2 жыл бұрын
Do you have your PAP? (Positive axis point). All of your equipment should be drilled based off of that measurement. Makes a huge difference in consistency
@justziptieit84282 жыл бұрын
@@ForrestKritzer yes, have my PAP but the layout was just a baseline layout since we didn't know any of my other stats. I'm starting to think I'm more rev dominant than the layout likes. Thinking of having it redrilled to a weaker layout to see if that makes any difference. Hate to put more money in a budget ball but don't want to buy another ball and end up with the same problem.
@justziptieit84282 жыл бұрын
@@SovietWarMusic thinking they come with a 2000 finish. Dont think I should need to go any smoother than that. I'm believing it is a layout issue. My shop just had my PAP with no other stats so we did a baseline layout they start with. I'm going to start there instead of spending the money on another ball.

I bowled a scratch 8 gamer on 2022 Open Championships team pattern out here in Riverside CA, placed and cashed in 11th out of 75 people, throwing a brunswick Slingshot taken down to 500 on the surface with lane shine. Then end pair at 39 and 40 killed my total score but I should have been prepared for the dry lol.

It's just marketing when the ball companies and their proxies promotes expensive hooking balls on heavy oil. There is no such thing as ''beginner '' or ''entry level'' ball, if they are great for that lane oiling, it is then a great ball.
