I've started bowling league over the last few months. Last week bought my first personal balls and got the tropical surge and white dot. On my 15th game with the new combo I hit my first 200 (201) game with them. Also learning finger tip bowling which has been a steep learning curve. Happy with the progress and feel like it's a great starter ball for me.

Bought a hustle wine, imidietly played a tourney. Pattern was long and thick, I struggled lol. Before the shop opened I threw a 196 with a house ball, 185 was my highest and 116 was my lowest with the hustle. The ball did amazingly, everytime I hit my mark with a solid release it was a strike. But I yanked quite a few. It handled suprisingly well for spares. No problem hitting any 10 pin I left. For reference my average is 176, I bowl right handed thumbless 1 handed. My line is pretty average.

Your right Tang because if I had a dollar dfor every time someone thought that they could tell me something about bowling i would have a million dollars by now. But People just don't know how hard bowling really is not until they've had at least 20 years under their belt like me or maybe Bell Monte or something. I told j. R. Raymond about Rodney Conieval, and I used that analogy of how perfect the set up for the jump over the grand canyon, and that was what i was telling him that it was a stunt every time he jumped anything, and that it had to be set up just right or sudden disaster would accure. Well that's the same for any good bowler. People that don't know think that it's really easy. It appeared easy to me when I first started, and I thought that I was good because i hit the pocket every time, but I found out that there was a carry and a hook issue to address.. Everybody thinks that they know but they don't.
@LoyalDW2 жыл бұрын
Darren... Just throw the ball slower. In league you have so much free hook to the left, so its not about hitting your hook spot from side to side, its about hitting your hook spot from front to back. If the ball wont pick up in the right spot, slow it down and adjust your roll based on how much you need the ball to hook.

seeing how reactive that tropical surge is makesme feel pretty good about ordering it as my first new ball. Ive had some used before, but decided to dive a little deeper, and so i went ahead and copped the tropical surge 14lb in emerald green and balck. (the color way is very pleasing to my brain, reminds me of the ninja turtles.) I was worried i got to unreactive of a ball as my first one and i wouldnt enjoy how it hooked, but seeing how hard you can get that thing to go really is giving me the confidence i needed to know i made the right purchase. Can't wait to get her drilled and bowl, the first game with her this weekend! (i do a thumbless release, usually around 18 to 20 mph down lane. im 6'2" 185lb so tossing it down at that speed is more comfortable to me. I hold it with both hands, hand do this weird circular motion to start my motions. I walk down, no stutter steps, my typical approach lands somewhere between boards 30 and 20 Depends on shot and pattern). Half the momentum comes from my approach, the other half is me accelerating my arm through like a 3/4 motion swing. I release low, and the acceleration helps the ball stay stuck to my fingers so i can really just rip on it --why i dont bowl higher than 14lb, feels like the form i use is gonna rip my middle finger off--.) I bowl a 170 avg. never took actual lessons, i just spent alot of time in vegas when i was younger. A lot of the pro's would teach me stuff at random in the alley, they were all super nice (the Brunswick alley inside the south point casino has been one of my main alleys since before i could properly tie my own shoes.) I would also get to watch alot of the pro and amateur tournaments. I got taught how to bowl thumbless with a hook by some really drunk french guys who were goofing off after competing in a tournament there. One had a short bottle of cognac and two shot glasses inside a clear custom made ball he was using, the shit was pretty dope. His buddy had a similar one, but his had a stiletto and a couple of shell casings from assorted pistol rounds. Two of the coolest looking bowling balls i have ever seen in my entire life. They both still crushed me using non performance balls like that too. some people on the lanes are just absolute monsters, doesnt matter what you put in their hands, they are just that good.
