Richie, love your playing, its kick ass, you from Philly I'm from Syracuse up 81, rock on brother!

There's nothing wrong with his teaching approach. He's assuming you're already intermediate to advanced and have been studying for a while. Honestly, you wouldn't know who he was or care unless you were fairly advanced.
@Modes911 жыл бұрын
What sets Ritchie and some of my other favorites (like Larry Carlton) apart is that they have a harmonic sense and outline chords with their lines. It sounds like he heard a lot of great keyboard and horn players at some point.

Most underrated musician on the planet! Nuno was recently asked to name a top 5 most underrated. He should've mentioned Richie for sure!
@brandonkejick41307 ай бұрын
Not surprising. As much as I like Nuno's playing, he's like a little boy still trying to get respect from Satch, Vai, Yngwie, etc..., he recently played with Satch and Kotzen... dude, Nuno's playing is linear style "shredder", while Richie was more "feel" for the groove with some awesome tasty licks.....and Satch...well..he's the Gandalf of guitar! lol

Dude he is world famous... just Google Richie kotzen. he used to play with poison. I don't care for poison but if you've never heard of them you live under a rock in a 3rd world trailer park
@paolo-12838 жыл бұрын
After poison he also played with mr. big after paul gilbert left, he has projects with Greg Howe (mind blowing fusion) as well and other blues jazz fusion bands. Listen to his earlier records you'll be blown away how much of a jason becker-ish, steve vai-sh he used to play, and he also played as guest on guthrie's erotic cake album. Now with winery dogs is even better, he already done it all.

His style has changed so much since then. I'm not sure which I prefer. I really like his jazz fusion shred stuff, but I also like his newer, more vocal focused stuff. I'd have to say that as a guitarist I probably prefer old Kotzen to new Kotzen.

+Georgios Karaspyros you mention tj and brad and leave off andy timmons?
@zafira9768 жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong man, Andy Timmons is great! Fantastic feel (second to none), good note presentation, good fast lines but...having heard three of his albums I realised he lacks in improvisational medium fast lines. It's not a bad thing, it's just one of the trades of a pure rock player that writes his solos as pure improvisation is not part of their playing

Allan Holdsworth and Shawn Lane might never be surpassed in my opinion.

Ritchie is a great combo- singer/player! For the guys who want to really see another AMAZING player, who is not so well known, but DEFINETLY should be... You owe it to yourself to investigate , Greg Koch - rhymes with "chalk". Joe Bonamassa calls Greg the BEST all around player in the world!! That's a pretty big set of shoes to fill, especially coming from Joe himself!!! I dig Ritchie, and The Winery Dogs!!! Best 3 piece ROCK band around!!! Regards all
@theblindsniper11 жыл бұрын
I'm liking how he's not really sticking to one thing: in this video, it's like he's giving us a choice as a player like "Well here's something you may like, it sounds cool, it can improve your playing! Oh, you don't like it? Well it's okay!!! Here's more techniques!" What makes the techniques/licks worth learning though is the cool concept of tweaking it to give it a different kind of sound. Cool video! And I'm only 15 minutes in hahaha

The Telecaster is an awesome guitar. It's got an awesome vibe. It's very soulful. It can cry and sing. Can an Ibanez make you cry? Songwriters tend to grab their Tele for inspiration. It's hard to play anything on it without being moved. I should buy one.

@chrismorse38625 жыл бұрын
I've got a lot of guitars, half of them shred pieces, but keep finding myself on the Mexican Tele, tiny 21 frets and all. Especially unplugged, it's all you need; but with a nice high gain amp it can do about anything.

+Johnny Marlin i think that he for a long time have been under a grey area, he is the kind of rock guitarplayer that begins to flert in jazz area, not a jazz player, very clear and noticiable, not suitable for a complete jazz player, but already outside and too far to saty only at the rock genre..sorry about my english!
