1Y11 ARROCHAR & TARBET TO UPPER TYNDRUM

Having arranged a window transfer with the Train Manager we now continue the directly behind 73969 for the remainder of the journey. Whilst not as musical as a class 37/4, the sound of the 73 gives you a good idea of how much work the loco has to do climbing up to Rannoch Moor. On leaving Arrochar & Tarbet the line soon skirts the edge of Loch Lomond before stopping at the station and passing loop of Ardlui. The next station is Crianlarich, here daytime trains split with one portion heading to Oban with the other portion heading to Fort William, trains also join here to head down to Glasgow. The line to Oban branches off to the left as soon as 73969 leaves the station with both lines skirting either side of the valley towards Tyndrum. As our station suggests, our train has to climb to access our next station, Upper Tyndrum.
