Great footage. York used to be a superb 'spotting' destination and this clip took me back to happier times. Thanks.

Absolutely incredible footage. Like a time machine back the time I was born! Thanks again for uploading. I hope there's another DVD on the cards. Arp

Great footage! The 50 looks good in the large-logo livery. Just wish I could have been there.

I was on that train and remember how cold it was as well. That Deltic was not in the best of health and I am not sure it was via Bridlington on the return but was to York? It was 30 years ago now!

50010 being banked up the Lickey by two 37s sounded nice, I was in the first coach behind the 50 outbound, and got some good recordings of that trip. Digitising them ready for uploading here.

What a superb film, brings back a lot of memories there. Don't think the driver of no2 wanted to hang about though :-)

@theamateurbasher to rite times have changed, the railway is so boring now, i used to go to nwcastle central and see these beasts all day long, in the late 70s very early 80s, then they stopped and the hst took over, thats when the railway tumbled downhill and has not stopped tumbling yet, the only good days now is when the 70s/80s diesels are doin railtours especially 55 022 deltics maybe gone but never forgotton

The railway is an endless series of units with names that sound like pizza toppings.

Great nostalgia but that Deltic sounded rather ill on one engine as it left for Scarborough
