Very good video. Much better than what 1Zpresso provides. Thorough, detailed, and covers all the bases on cleaning and calibration. If you have an air compressor, it makes it very easy to clean all the parts, especially the body and burr ring unit.

I have saved this video for when i need to clean three months from now. I just got money so trying to understand calibration. New to espresso and this is my first hand grinder. Have a Oxo conical burr grinder but won’t cut it for an pressurized pull. Thank you so much for this video.

Bonne video. Cette histoire de calibration était franchement nébuleuse. Very good video and explanation. Although it takes forever to grind 15 grams at 1.29.... Bit of a mis-representation in other videos when they use the expresso grind. Much better than my Bodum electric (lost its edge for close-to-expresso grind). THX !

That was a great video! I was wondering after cleaning if i missed up the calibration by one or two clicks while reassemble mine barley moves hom much clicks would that affect my grind setting For example before i was 2.5 now would it be 2.3?

Yes, depending on if you don't get the cap put on the exact same tightness, it could adjust like that. I was using 1.2.9 but now I'm down to 1.2.1. But that can also be because of the beans. They say you could need to adjust for every new bag of beans. Hope that helps.

Please, please tell me, is it possible to grind on the J-Ultra for filter coffee (Pour Over, etc.)? Or is this grinder only for espresso and has no grind settings for filter coffee at all?
@cyber_van_life
@cyber_van_life 5 ай бұрын
You can definitely grind for pour over! It supports all grind levels for every type of coffee. You can check out the 1Zpresso website for the grind settings per type.

@@cyber_van_life Thank you very much for your answer and for your video. On the 1Zpresso website, J-Ultra is positioned as exclusively for espresso (that’s why my question arose). Probably, because it can create slightly more fines at the medium and course grind range?.. I'm choosing now between X-Ultra and J-Ultra. Primarily for making espresso, but sometimes I also make filter coffee. X-Ultra is considered universal, but in my country it currently costs a little ($14) more than J-Ultra, although based on prices from the same official website, J-Ultra should be $30 more expensive. Please tell me (if you have such information) - will X-Ultra have a radically cleaner grind for filter coffee than J-Ultra?

@@vladikuzmaybe choose K-ultra if you want an all rounder, but if it's mainly used for espresso i think you should choose J

I cannot free the burr ring unit (see 4:20 in this video)? Except the ring unit, all the other parts were easy to disassemble. Before anyone asks, yes, I am turning the ring clockwise, as demonstrated in the video. The handy band provided by the manufacturer does not help. I tried latex-neoprene kitchen gloves and got a much better grip, but sill no joy removing the ring unit. I do not want to use a vise or wrench for fear of damaging the unit. Has anyone here run into this problem and found a viable solution?
@roncourtright4298
@roncourtright4298 6 күн бұрын
Sussed it! TIL that one of my hands may be stronger than the other. Using the kitchen gloves, I swapped hands (i.e., if right-handed the right hand was holding the grinder whilst the left hand was twisting). It still took a fair amount of effort the I could remove the ring unit in seconds and proceed with cleaning and calibration.

Yeah, that's a tough one. I couldn't even get it twisted off the the last time I tried to clean it. Nice work on finally getting it!

Do you know if you can recalibrate to get the zero point to be zero on the adjuster? Mine turned up and the zero point i think is saying around 8. Thanks.
@cyber_van_life
@cyber_van_life 8 ай бұрын
Yes, you can. Just loosen the Knurled Thumb Nut up a little bit then put the dial at 0 and re tighten it until the burrs can't really spin. You can take it apart and follow my reassembly and calibration part of the video too.

I put a note in my calendar for the first of every month when I clean and calibrate my grinder. It only takes about 10 minutes and keeps the oils from building up in the grinder.
