I just bought the x-pro to use for pour overs at work and while traveling. It is really nice for filter coffee, and it outperforms the JX-Pro handily for my tastes. At a grind size where the JX-Pro was producing a muddy bed and some bitterness, the X-Pro produces a much cleaner and clearer cup.

I have some higher end grinders, but I've actually been surprised I've been also enjoying a cheaper Timemore C2 and C3 hand grinder for pour overs (C2 basically doesn't do espresso, I tried one shot on the C3 and it works but had no flavour clarity at all, I might give it another shot though).

I received my X pro today)))) amazing grinder. Thank you for your recommendation. Time does not matter actually I enjoy grinding process itself actually. I am so happy now that I have such a beautiful grinder. 1zpresso is the top company in this field I think so after owning their product. I have a question about this grinder. Interestingly, 0 was not in its place. It starts 5 click before 0. However, I saw in table that grinding size starts from 0. So how can I start counting clicks (from which point) if I want to adjust it for pressurized basket? Actually I want to make espresso with naked portafilter but I need to know just starting point for pressurized first and then go back more fine grind setting rotating it to counter clockwise. What would you recommend? I think even it starts from 5 click before 0 , I should come by normal rotating it to 0 first and only after to start counting clicks following the table for brew methods of official 1zpresso for X pro grinder although mine is X pro S model/
@AlternativeBrewing11 ай бұрын
So you'll need to calibrate this grinder. I show this at 3:11 , so you'll be able to get the finest point of the grinder reading zero (0). You should follow the Espresso recommendation by one full turn of the Adjustment and see how this brews 😀
@danielh123459 ай бұрын
The way it was set is how 1zpresso recommends you calibrate it I believe. The 0 point then is where the burs will start touching when you rotate the grinder. Mine is also like 5 clicks before the 0. I'm curious, have you found your espresso range by now?
@tom_nuyts10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for all the clarifications ...;-) one general question : why are the burrs of hand grinders not swappable, like the flat grinders... then one could better change between espresso and filter (which I myself hate: if I wanna drink tea, I take tea...;-)). )
@AlternativeBrewing10 ай бұрын
great question. There are a handful of hand grinders out there that have multiple burr sets for the one Product. Option-O were one, Kinu also. But it's few and far between.
@morgant6508 Жыл бұрын
Your videos are really good and very precise! I analyze each for hand grinders. You are going to help me make my choice. Looks like the X pro is a K but in a more accessible price range! On the other hand, it may be limited for my 6-cup bialetti (I sometimes add 30g of coffee). (Afterwards, I read somewhere that someone put between 25 and ... 38 g of coffee in his X pro oO it would depend on the coffee in fact!). edit : Or maybe more of a fusion between the Q2 and the Ks?

@AJM5472 жыл бұрын
Although it will depend on the type of beans and how many rotation per minute your arm is doing, I can grind 20 gms of a light roasted coffee in about 20-30 seconds at a comfortable pace at 1.5.5 setting. The most beans I can fit in comfortably so far are 25 gms, but I can stuff it completely full at about 28 gms and still get the handle on and be able to grind. Mind you, this is a brand new grinder. Not sure what will happen after a few weeks of use.
@abd-elrahmanmohamed9839 Жыл бұрын
@@AJM547 Now after a year . What is your thoughts about X-Pro for filter coffee ? Is it still good ?
@AJM547 Жыл бұрын
@@abd-elrahmanmohamed9839 After a year I love this grinder even more. It is built solid and looks and performs like new. If I am grinding a good quality single origin light roasted coffee, I can get 30 gms into it, and if it is a dark roasted store brand coffee, about 22-25 gms. The ability to make very fine adjustment to the grind is great, even if I don't need that feature very often. The only very small cons to this grinder would be that if you needed to grind more than 30 gms at a time, you need to do it in two batches, and sometimes when you are finished grinding, there is a bean or a piece of a bean left in the chamber, so you need to shake it a bit to get it fall so you can grind it. So, it you are like me and only need to grind 15 - 30 gms at a time and can do without features like a magnetic catch cup or folding handle, it is very hard to beat this grinder for the price. I give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
