+SoundgardenMan I have a playlist of cars I've driven, sorted by price. You'd be looking at vehicles near the Chevy Cruze Premier in that list. I will be at the LA Auto Show in November. More videos will be posted.

Have owned 2 TDI's and 4 VW's in past 12 years. Switching brands as a result of this mess. NEVER owned one, but looking seriously at a Ford fusion hybrid. Compared to prius 2 eco, fuel savings were at 10+ years

Well for me it's a Mazda CX-5 GT AWD optioned up. From the Golf Sportwagen. Hate that VW priced its AWD Alltrack as more costly than the diesel optioned Sportwagen. If I had money to burn I would get a BMW 4 series.

Show me the money! I am looking forward to your replacement suggestions. As of now, I am interested in a few cars. I like the new Civic hatch, the Acura ILX (aka fancy Civic), or maybe the GTI or GLI. There is going to be a lot of buyers out there, but wondering how many are going to consider another VW? A GTI/GLI at $3,500 to $4,000 off MSRP would be tempting, but I would probably not get a VW if they do not have large discounts. I also may decide to get a WRX or maybe a large SUV (partly out of spite). I would find it funny to replace my "polluting" car with a vehicle that pollutes more.

I will be curious what you have in store. I wish Subaru already had the new Impreza out in showrooms, as that would certainly be an option if you want to keep the hatchback layout.

Diesel Review Yeah that is why I bought my A6 ahead of time; as I thought that there would be some former TDI owners that would want to stay with a diesel, but would take the opportunity to upgrade to an Audi and a 3.0L TDI that had a higher chance of being fixed. The really kind of odd/sad thing is that even if you wanted to stay with VW, selling back your car does not count as a trade-in (meaning no tax reduction) and VW cannot offer any special offers to TDI owners to keep them in the brand. However, other car manufacturers can do that. At least TDI owners have two years (I think that is correct) in which to sell back their vehicles if they want to avoid the mess. The only issue with that is that your vehicle's value is in part based on it being in a certain mileage range and so you can't run up the miles on it in that time if you are close to one of the mileage break points.

As an international viewer did they also approve the 3.0 tdi buyback or is it still being discussed?

So I have a question, I submitted my online claim @claims.vwgoa.com/#/login and right now I am on Step 15 where it says I am now waiting 10 business days to be given a final offer,(Which we past about 3 days ago). I submitted my loan paperwork, proof of ID and car registration and... now there are no more steps. So does VW mail me an offer? What happens next? Are we really going to have to wait until February to get rid of this car?

Very same boat here; same step, same date, all paperwork began months ago. VERY frustrating. Anyway, to answer your specific question, the online videos state they will EMAIL you the offer, you sign, get notorized, upload back to claims site like you probably did your other docs, they schedule a buyback apt with the dealer in your profile, end of story. I would be interested in hearing directly from another person in same boat. if you care to, my email is desmitpa@jmu.edu, thanks, Pete

The specifics are that it must get approved by the settlement administrator. Once that offer is sent, it cannot be rescinded. The court has initiated many steps through which all parties must adhere to, and it takes time. I have read some court documents on the case, and VW is currently overwhelmed with 6,500 calls per day. 75% of all 2.0 TDI owners have already contacted VW for the settlement.
