As you asked about the translator last video, perhaps "Ship Hull" would be better translation then "Ship bottom"?

Can I suggest when you have cut the main gate off the runner position your cutter/nippers at 90° to the remaining nub then use a #11 blade to remove the rest of the gate... Finish using a flat file.... Doing it this way will give you a perfectly flat surface every time

Also wet sanding and a hard foam block will make the hull seams much easier to finish and will use less sandpaper
