I wish you'd make pre written text during the discussion and just bring them up as you go along. I'm losing the flow of thought as you write. Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks for your video. Big question confuses me a lot: Question 4) Please try to use formula to solve the problem. Even it looks obvious. I used P(Blue Card l Even) = P(A n B)/P(B) , ((3/5)*(2/5))/(2/5) = 3/5

P(B) = Even number = 2 /5 -------- is YOUR typo it should be 2/4 ( since 1 card was already picked there are no longer 5 cards but only 4 ) - better late than never?

Can someone please explain the purpose/ practical application of the following formula?: P(AG∪AR)=P(AG)+P(AR)−P(AG−AR) . Notice that the last section in the formula is P(AG−AR) as apposed to what is typically seen as P(AG ∩ AR).

Thank you for putting this video together. I'm studying for the GRE and I really needed something like this to better understand probability. I had some questions though, if you have some time to look over them and respond. 1) At 14:33, you go over b) but don't explain which formula you're using. I know it's pretty obvious that the answer is 1/5, but I would like to know which formula you're using, since I'm writing in my notes which formula corresponds to each type of question. 2) Same thing for d) Which formula is being used? (16:12) 3) Is the formula for Independent Events and "And" types of problems the same? 4) What is Bayes Formula and when would I use that? P(A | B) = P(B | A) * ( P(A) / P(B) )? 5) You mentioned towards the end of the video briefly mutually exclusive events. What if the events were not exclusive? That would be "And" type of situation, correct? (23:20) I graduated from college with a BA 10 years ago. Haven't done math since then. So bare with me. Wrapping my head around all of this and I need very clear black and white explanations to understand all of this. I don't have a lot of confidence in my understanding of most of the material, so while some of it may seem self explanatory, I'm asking questions for reassurance and clarification. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Thank you so much for your help!! You are awesome!! I loved your video!! 😁

It's one year late but I will answer for the others watching the video. Someone will eventually correct me if I'm wrong. 1) Adjust same formula on given values P(Blue and Even) = P(Blue) * P(Even | Blue) = 3/5 * 1/3 = 0.2 2) He only sticks on AND-formula. The thing is if you proceed on the formula then you need to know what P(B|A) is. And that leads you the first conditional-formula and to proceed in that formula you need to know what P(A and B) is, which is the question itself again. That's why, he proceeds second part of AND-formula by logic, P(B2 | B1) = 2/4 because 2 blue card left out total of 4 after drawing the first blue card. Just remove the number of thing happened at the first event (in ours, 1) from both number of outcomes and sample space. 3) No, look closer again. AND-formula is P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B | A) and the third way of showing independent events mentioned in the video is P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B) 4) Bayes gives the relationship between the probabilities of A and B, P(A) and P(B) and the conditional probabilities of A given B and B given A, P(A|B) and P(B|A). Check 1.conditional & 2. AND formulas and you will see Bayes is the combination of both. The instructor actually decoupled Bayes for us to understand formulas easily. Just in the first formula, the position of A and B reverse given (for easier understanding) which could confuse you to position them in Bayes. Reverse either of the formulas in the video and put AND formula into the conditional. 5) Yes. That means Sample Space intersects.

14:18 - "if I know I've got an EVEN card, the prob. is 50% that it's going to be EVEN". Should be "going to be BLUE"
