Painless360 Do you think it's possible to do a V 22 Osprey..? Be able to take off vertical, then take off horizontal once up in the air? For like tight spaces? Be able to take off and land vertical, but have the speed of an airplane? I think it would require a servo like what's on a tricopter, but have two of them.. I see how it can be done, especially it would have to be in the center of gravity of the plane.

As always, top notch videos! I'd picked up a used FPV 250 quad, that is very similar to the quad in your video, at a swap meet, but the quad had GPS and a lot more complicated stuff on it than I could handle (this is my first 'real' quad, having only flown the little Inductrix quad up until now). A friend of mine coached me to replace the current controller with CC3D. You video has definitely broken the quad code for me and I now know what to do to get this quad flying.

After a hard landing, fixed wing, I have crossed signals. When I advance the throttle, the rudder deflects full left (rudder on single servo aileron setup channel1). I redid the setup three times, even did some channel switching, but the throttle affects sometime servo 1 and sometimes both servo 1 and 2 depending on assignment. Everything worked fine initially, until the hard landing. Searched the internet, and couldn't find anyone talking about this. Thanks. Bill

I hope those behind LibrePilot have some new hardware on the drawing board. It's an awesome platform that gets no love. It gets flight mode configuration spot on. I'm surprised Betaflight and Cleanflight don't just give up on any modes but rate.
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
We're switching to dRonin now after loosing faith in Librepilot.. So many Openpilot follow on projects to bet on in the early days (Libre, Tau, Dronin etc.)..
@seanbittner71368 жыл бұрын
I looked at their Github screenshots. The flight mode configuration for dRonin appears dumbed down almost as much as CF, BF, etc... Nope nope nope. I don't want the same rates in attitude (horizon mode for google app users) mode as I do in rate. When you go out of control, panic and need to recover or if your vehicle gets blown out too far by the wind one does indeed need a 'steady as she goes' flight mode. Can we quit pretending we are all race champs/experts? Can't they at least build stability profiles into the platform for only separate rates? If I wasn't able to learn to use the powerful tools they give to build stability profiles tuned to my abilities I might have given up on these craft. Furthermore just because LibrePilot has a great vehicle setup wizard does not relegate the platform exclusively to beginners, do have a video on thrust PID scaling? Did you notice that you can even set stabilization modes that have, for example Rate for pitch and attitude (horizon for google app lemmings) for roll, etc.? It goes deep. If this platform dies it may be a while before something with as flexible and powerful flight mode system comes back around, sigh. Flight controller platforms that only cater wannabe race champs will turn many off to the sport/hobby when their vehicles get lost or wrecked. End rant......

***** Not sure on the exact process - that will be covered in the maual for the radio. The normal process is along the lines of - plug in bind plug in Rx, power it on (keep the other cables plugged in), power on the radio in bind mode, wait for light on Rx to go solid. Turn off both radio and Rx, remove bind plug, power on radio then Rx and test connection...Hope this helps. This is covered in my 'Introduction to RC' series..

Painless; The direct question will be for what function or operation is the black wire included in the receiver harness and it is not mention on the connection diagram? Thanks
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
+Hector Castro The black wire is normally the ground and needed for the Rx to be powered and act as a reference for the signal voltages. It is shown in the diagram - see 5:35 in the video. You only need one connection to the GND though as this is usually common across all the receiver outputs. Hope that makes sense.
@vkirbys9 жыл бұрын
Painless, I have had 2 failed cc3d atoms installs, probably because I did not fully wait for the windows drivers to be installed, apparently (not confirmed this myself) you have to wait for the driver install process for EACH cc3d device that you will configure (normally you install a window driver and it works for additional devices of the same type). In fact the tip I received was to NOT start the OpenPilot software until the driver had installed and you can see it listed under "Device Manager" in windows .. you should see "CopterControl" listed under "Ports (COM & LPT)" .... not doing it this way, can result in a "bricked" CC3D

Thanks very much for this great series on the CC3D. I am very new to quadcopters and was wondering if you could do a short video on setting up failsafe on the CC3D (when it isn't available on the radio transmitter)? If it is mentioned in your series I missed it and I can't seem to find clear instructions anywhere else on the web. I am currently using a Turnigy 9X. Thanks.
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
Hugh J I will add this to the list. Bottom line - setup the Rx so it outputs zero throttle when it looses connection with the radio. Test it on the bench (props removed) so that you can turn off the radio with the craft armed and motors running and the throttle stops. There are also settings in the firmware for this too but they are in addition to a properly configured failsafe on the radio receiver.

Painless: I already finish the configuration, noticed and have questions. I have the spektrum DX 7S . The only way that I could comply with the flight mode switch was to activate the three position flap switch, now I have 3 levels, but what level 1 means and 2 etc...? Also I notice that my gear switch is appearing on channel 6 like "full" deployed when it is in the "0" position what this means and how it could affect the performance. BTW, great job you did with this videos, my respects.

To use CPPM would you just only use the throttle wire and cut the rest off? Or is there a whole different connector? If so does is come with the kit or would it need to be purchased separately

Yes I did , it is not vibrating is wobbling which PID's you use with the 250 quad in your video? Could you orient me in this aspect?

With all the leads plugged into the receiver is there a spare one or not? And my transmitter has a F mode switch so will the AUX 1 slot be free for a buzzer?
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
J.JONES RC Well, as I can't see your receiver I can't answer that ;) If you have a spare output then you can use that to power a HK buzzer - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpivn5evgL6oq6s - or you need to connect it to one of the outputs of the CC3D and read wiki.openpilot.org/display/WIKI/Adding+a+Buzzer+to+Your+VehicleBest of luck with it.

All I can say is FANTASTIC set of video's, I did the build along with the mini 250 and it flies great, I went with the picture on the model set-up , but getting a small amount of isolation and backward drift, and not sure of what to adjust in the programing. I also put the cc3d on my 450 X quad and having the same problems, but I have changed some of the numbers an checked the results afterwards, but still having isolation issues any suggestions ?
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
Dan H. Make sure that you are isolating the board from any vibration and re-calibrate the accelerometers again.. Best of luck.

I am having trouble with PID settings for my f450 frame quadcopter. It seems whichever P value i try changing it to (i have tried from 2.0 all the way to 7.0 on the Beginners tab) the quad always has a series of "wobbles" during hover. As in the quadcopter will drop a few noticeable degrees one side, correct itself, then wobble several noticeable degrees the way (and it appears it does this in the Pitch and Roll axis) so attempting to fly FPV is not very doable. Any ideas on why this is the case?
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
+fifaplayer10 Vibration is a common cause. See videos like kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2W2gGN_pN6nnNV8ave you mounted the CC3D at the COG and have it mounted on the frame? Have you balanced the motors and props? Best of luck..
@SilverandButters9 жыл бұрын
+Painless360 Yes i do have the CC3d mounted on a thin layer of foam in the direct center of the frame. Motors are balanced as well as propellers. Surpirsingly. What i just did a couple hrs ago was change the ESC setting in the CC3d GUI to the rapid setting (490 hz refresh rate) and then changed the PID settings back to default. Now the quad flies ridiculously smooth. I guess changing the ESC refresh rate fixed it.

Sorry to bother again, do I have to perform the ESC"s calibration before the program step. Also the beeps have to be for each ESC or one time?
@usernew17648 жыл бұрын
i have bought the ESC (EMAX BLheli 30A bec 2A/5V) and i would like to know i can connect the 4 ESC to my cc3d without taking any wire from the connectors? and one last question What is Standard and Rapid ESC? thank you
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
If it's a switched BEC then you can. The Standard vs. Rapid ESC talks about how quickly they can be updated. Older ESCs were designed for fixed wing but multirotors needed much faster refresh rates. Most modern ESCs are now 'Rapid' - if it runs BLHeli or SimonK then it's Rapid..

I'm having trouble calibrating my ESCs. First off, one of my ESCs gets warm as soon as the battery is plugged in. Then, after calibration, that ESC and the one opposite from it start beeping while their motors twitch. Is there something wrong with my ESCs, or am I doing something wrong?
@Painless3609 жыл бұрын
I would check the motor connections on those ESCs and swap the motors with another that is ok to see if the problem stays with the ESC or the motor.. Best of luck.

When I calibrated my radio with the program, it showed that my pitch and roll stick was offset. For example, when I put the right stick in the top left corner, the librepilot would read that its at the top center position or wen I pushed the stick to the top right corner, it read that it was pointing directly right. How do I fix this?
@Painless3608 жыл бұрын
The calibration routine normally fixes this. I'd run through this again. Failing that simply reverse the channels that are wrong on the radio. Best of luck!

Painless360 After using setup wizard there is place to set parameters one by one. I cant find where is this place for ESC speed. Is it this: www.new.planet.ee/esc.jpgMay be I have to change D5 to 22 kHz and then I can get rid of weird noise.

Hello, I have a CC3D board on my quadcopter, but someone told me that i need a seperate gyroscope (and maybe an accelerometer). I thought that the CC3D wouldn't need a seperate gyro, because you can set this in OpenPilot. Am I right, or do i need a seperate gyro and accelerometer?

+TrueThinking This normally means that the program isn't 'seeing' the movement of the channel. Check that the channel value moves on the monitor screen on the radio. Check the output on the Rx is ok (I plug a spare servo into it and make sure it moves). Check that the cable is plugged into the right port on the receiver and then move the switch more slowly when trying the calibration. Best of luck!

Painless; How do you bind the RX? Before or during the calibration?Thanks for your time

You need to have it bound to test but I would rebind when you have used the sub trims on the radio to get the channel values as close to 1500 ( when in the middle) as possible.
