Love how I spotted the alpha Samite Healer before Rudy did :). I love the comment about how no one wanted Alpha back in the day. For those that don't understand that, this was in the days before Colored sleeves or even Opaque sleeves or even sleeves at all. The only sleeves available were the cheap, easily breakable clear plastic that were used to protect baseball cards. Alpha cards were considered "marked" because of the different corners and thus not used in early tournaments unless your deck was entirely Alpha cards. After they started making opaque sleeves that could stand up to shuffling Alpha cards became more than just a collectors item and everyone wanted to start using Black bordered versions of the reprinted white border versions.

When I was a kid in 1994, my best friend and I played with these cards unsleeved for hours and hours. We had stacks and stacks of alpha and beta and would make decks out of them. All of the damage done to these cards is from kids like me and others who played with these cards. At some point, we sold all of these cards to some local game store or gave them away, and some collector or store rounded them all up. It's actually quite likely that I've personally played with some of these cards. They were in as bad of condition as these. My best friend's older brother gave us boxes of all of these commons. Where he got them from I don't know. I got hooked on the game, and would go to my local gaming store (Dragon's Den in NY) to buy more. Rudy seemed puzzled by the history of these cards so upvote or send him this message if you want him to know.

The way you had the cards on top of that box is how you need to have all the cards in order to eliminate the smell. Do a few boxes more spread out with more sheets and you'll be good... eventually at least.

There is a third even worse cardstock I have noticed for boosters inserted into planeswalker decks. But only 2 I have seen in booster boxes. IN YOUR OPINION do you think the JP printed booster boxes are going to be worth more than the garbage card stock booster boxes?

Rudy, don't bother with dryer sheets. Look into a ~$100 ozone generator. Only way to guarantee you get the smell out. I got one to get the cigarette smell out of my newly-purchased used car and it totally did the trick. With the volume of questionable cards you get over time, might be the best investment. Certainly would save you time. An hour was all I needed to clean out the car smell.
@TheBookHunter15 жыл бұрын
To remove the smell put the cards in a trash bag with crushed up charcoal and seal it for a few days. Obviously don't put the charcoal directly on the cards. When you open the bag a few days later let it air out before you stick your face near the bag. Should work better than the dryer sheets.
