We are describing the CHANGES to velocity... And acceleration IS the term for 'change in velocity'!

Hi please tell why you said that negative acceleration is decceleration whereas they both are different things. Please tell its at last.

Both are types of acceleration Usually acceleration means velocity is increasing(as rate of change of velocity is acceleration)...to be more specific,prefix "positive" is used with acceleration to describe the increase in velocity...deceleration is decrease in velocity which also means "negative" acceleration indicated by the graph sloping downward which is said to have a negative gradient

hi i had a doubt on how can we represent the velocity expect that it goes at a constant velocity but changes direction do we take it from 0 into the negative region or just draw a dot to represent it?
