[2'28"14] MHFU - NotYourGranny% Speedrun - Gunlance (2.0 Ruleset)

My second run with Gunlance in the new ruleset for NotYourGranny%, which is an altered version of Granny% (Low Rank Village Any%), basically beating the game without fixed damage items like bombs and with a few of the broken weapons out of the picture.
This version of the run is just gameplay, I forgot to record the scene without the stream overlays, but I'll fix that for the next one.

There's also an extended version of the intro cinematic that gets skipped in these sorts of speed runs, where tigrex pushed you off a mountain which is kinda cool

What weapons do you like? And what Lances do you recomend for village, If you know about that? I made the lobster set and i will try evade lancing on FU

I kinda play all of them at this point, as for lance, early game the Estoc line is pretty solid, though Knight Lance will scale better throughout the game. Tigrex and Nargacuga can carry you pretty hard through early High Rank and G-Rank, but I prefer running elemental/status options with Lance/GL over pure raw generally

What makes hammer broken, if i may ask? I know this is an old video now. I just started playing mhfu for the first time and honestly im getting frustrated with the hammer. Only thing ive koed so far is bulldrome and im currently getting washed by plesioth since i need piscine fangs.

Hammer, aside from the strong stun values, has some really crazy motion values, the golf swing alone can often do more than entire combos from other weapons. You'd definitely need to be really comfortable with the hammer to speedrun with it, and it has some rough matchups, but the bans weren't just about whether the weapon would be broken or not. The 4 weapons chosen are the most commonly used weapons in speedruns of MHFU, the goal of this category was to let other types weapons have a chance to shine.

And the damage thing is true to an incredible extent. I main Lance, and a 3 Upward Poke combo does 83 MV, I believe, which doesn't even come close to a golf swing.

Hi how is gunlance(no shelling) compared to lance on g-rank?

Depends on the matchup, Gunlance typically favors a mix of high raw with an element, over pure raw. Playstyle wise, Gunlance tends to be a bit more aggressive and committed then Lance, but both of them do just fine in G-Rank. Though you'll need to be pretty comfortable with them to get faster times with them.

Sure, you probably can beat that time with lance. I’m not sure where exactly how fast Lance could get if truly pushed to its limits, but I think it’d be cool to see how fast each weapon can go regardless.

I've got a lot of them, but to go over the most important ones: I think F2 had some of the most balanced motion values for GL and the I-Frame bug should have stayed. Focus should have sped up Wyvern's Fire. Shelling's damage, while strong in low rank, needed some help in later ranks (as always). Otherwise, I love the moveset and tools GL has.

@@Mik-kv8xx It should work regardless of which GL/armor you have, but just a heads up you’ll get I frames the moment the attack hits the monster, not when you fire

why are boomerangs banned? is there some like, hidden boomerang tech I don't know about?

There isn’t any crazy tech from my knowledge, but they were banned mostly because they are purchasable and deal non weapon damage. Throwing Knifes and Exploding Rocks almost made the list, but are really quest dependent and require some time investment to make proper use of.
