He's not exaggerating about the 'good medical care': During the building of the cheps pyramid, the authorities actually spent great sums of money to feed their workers lots of garlic, onions and radish, to control the spread of infectious disease and ensure proper nutrition. It was probably the closest they had to vitamin pills or preventive measures back in the day. Besides having a religious purpose and giving the king prestige, building huge monuments was also a measure to keep ppl employed while the fields were underwater in certain times of the year. One of the coolest things about history is finding out how ppl have basically always been ppl.

There is also Diarmaid MacCulloch "Christianity the first three thousand years" Both have good narrative histories and the latter has an annotated bibliography second to none when finding source material For a detailed archeological look that lacks the narrative setting I'd refer you to Patrick d miller's "the religion of ancient israel" and is for the most part availible for free

The music is very spiritual in such a way that it relates to media you might see regarding the upholding and solidification of Christianity. I see it not quite as a mockery but as a comparison to Christian media and entertainment. It shows that those emotions, those deep rooted feelings that you get when watching Christian media, the ones that make you tear up in awe, the ones that strengthen your already steady faith in God are mere illusions meant to tap into your vulnerable mind. In other words, the music persuades you to have a positive attitude toward the content that’s being presented to you. I’m not sure if the guy who created these videos put this music in intentionally with that though in mind or if it was a coincidence, but it has helped me understand how capable I am of being manipulated by my emotions.

***** I sympathize with some of your point. Nevertheless, there now s evidence that the Canaanites and the Hebrews were the same people. We know this because Hebrew language is identical to Canaanite and Phoenician languages. This contradicts the account in genesis that Canaanites and Phoenicians were Hamites while Hebrews were Semites. The reality is that Hebrews were more closely related to Phoenicians than to Chaldeans (Iraqis). I am relieved to know that the Canaanite genocide never happened.
@haiggoh
@haiggoh 10 жыл бұрын
Kevin Lopez Just because they were culturally one people that doesn't mean that they didn't slaughter each other. It's true that archeologists have found out that the hebrews never were taken from israel to egypt so they had been living in canaan all along. But what I think happened is that the story about Joshua's and Moses's genocides was written by a Jahwist author in order to scare those who still worshipped baal and other canaan gods instead of only Jahweh. And I can imagine quite well that these genocides where not purely fictional and continued to happen. I mean, if people grew up with polytheism for many generations it was surely not easy to force them to worship Jahweh only and non of the other gods.
@kevinclass2010
@kevinclass2010 10 жыл бұрын
haiggoh i agree with you, there might have been some sort of conflict between settled and nomad Canaanites. But what is important to take from all of this is that any fatalist mythology is dangerous. For instance the Spaniards and British colonizers cited passages from Joshua to justify the enslavement and genocide of Native Americans. I feel sad that apologists uphold the story instead of criticize it. Answers in genesis justify Joshua's story of genocide, meanwhile they accusse falsely that Hitler was an atheist.

***** I am a Christian. I know that no ideology makes you good by default. There are good and bad Christians just as there are good and bad atheists. I believe that good nonbelievers are unconsciously following the teachings of Jesus. Jesus said that one day the law would be written in our hearts. So if Jesus was able to criticize the fundamentalist Jews about the strict sabath laws, why some Christians keep supporting wars?

I can read and write Hebrew, specifically biblical Hebrew which can be vastly different from modern Hebrew. I learned this alongside English and have been able to translate the Old Testament, the Torah, without the assistance of others since I was ten. When I finally read through Deuteronomy for the first time around ten or so, it was abundantly obvious almost from the beginning that it was very different from previous books. However, it wasn't until I was much older that I figured out that the Torah was not, in fact, inspired by god and was just a collection of myths written by an ancient people that became the foundation of Judaism and later, of other religions including Christianity and Islam.

Here's what we do know. Canaanites, prior to the Israelites, worshiped a pantheon of gods. The head god was named El. Other gods in the pantheon were Ba'al, Anat, Mot (death), Yam (sea), Shamash (sun). We learn this mostly from excavations of the ancient site of Ugarit, which fell around 1200 BCE. It does not appear that Canaanites worshiped a god named YHWH. There is one text that might possibly indicate the existence of such a god, but the translation is highly debated, and certainly can't be used as certain proof. More reliably, we have two references from Egypt dating to the 14th and 13th centuries that refer to the "Shasu of YHW." A group of nomads. However, Egypt heiroglyphics often give context to what words represent, and YHW represents a toponym or a placename, not a deity (although it could be both). Some verses in the Tanach indicate that YHWH worship was imported from the southern regions. There is a theory that Israelites learned about YHWH from a nation called the Kenites (the nation represented by Cain in the Genesis story). You can read more about the Kenite hypothesis here. As an additional point of support, the Kuntellet Arjud inscription around 800 century BCE refers to Yahweh of the south. In later Israelite culture (late first monarchy and perhaps a bit before). YHWH and El had become merged into a single deity. The names were synonymous. The are a few stories where God reveals that he is both YHWH and El, the most famous being at the burning bush (although be careful because many scholars think that there are multiple accounts here that have been combined.) When the merging process occurred, and how it occurred is a very tricky question. The question is dealt thoroughly by Mark Smith in two of his works. Although these works are not very easy to read. As a quick point of summary. He traces a procedure in which YHWH gradually absorbed all the other popular deities, including El, Ba'al, Asherah and Anat, while other deities had their agency stripped away (Mot, Yam, Shamash). Finally, most scholars do not think that Abraham was a real person. Rather he's a mythical construct, similar to many of the other characters from that era. Nevertheless there's something to be said for the Israelites choosing YHWH as their deity. Again, a very common theory is that worship of YHWH evolved from general polytheism into henotheism/monolatry and from there into pure monotheism. Henotheism means that you recognize many gods, but you only worship one.

I'm totally awestruck by your story. This must be the third time I watch the video series. I have never really been a Christian. I was raised with the stories, and for a while, as a young child, I thought it was history, and that it therefore had some value. But I grew up in secular Sweden, and all the fairytales (sorry for the negative connotation) faded with age, and with secular religious education. (Not to be confused with anti-theist education, only a emotion - and compulsion free education of Christianity, and the other religions). Especially this episode 2.5 A history of God, should be a integral part of religious studies everywhere. As a counterweight to the religious narrative. I don't know why I'm writing really. I just enjoy your story, your non-confrontative approach. Calm, collected and really, really well thought through. Amazing work. Probably one of the absolute best on KZbin. The Flood story was originally because of a conflict between factions of the Gods. When translated into Hebrew, the consolidation of the happenings and reasonings left them with a schizophrenic God in need of an anger-management class. Besides, the earlier version is way more fun. Of course, that version (I refer to the one about Utnapishtim in the Epic of Gilgamesh) was itself likely taken from the earlier Epic of Atrahasis, which was itself likely taken from the earlier Ziusudra tale in the Eridu Genesis.

The simple fact that early Jews were polytheist was the "last straw" that finally got me to no longer believe in Christianity. El and Elohim are also acceptable. The god of the Jews was stolen from the Canaanite Pantheon. El (the bull god) was the prime god. This tradition was stolen as much as the story of Noah was stolen from the Epic of Gilgamesh. Their beliefs were based on earlier traditions and did not suddenly come from the "true god." I said that this was the "last straw" but there were plenty of other "straws" in the haystack.
@paradisecityX0
@paradisecityX0 7 жыл бұрын
El means "god/deity". El Elyon (God most high), actually, not El (the bull-god of that name, who the Canaanites saw as El Elyon's "son" in their mythology). And that still doesn't give the answer as to Yahweh's origins (which are - admitted by scholars - "unknown"). And being "stolen" is one conclusion (not the only one). But the flood narrative is a weak argument; even CS Lewis (you should read some of his work btw, he's pretty good at making you take a long, hard look at the world) pointed out that the story was based on the Gilgamesh account, along with the creation myth. Zouispora of Shurupakk, Utnapishtim, Noah, same person (not unlike Enoch and Krishna), same flood on which both stories were based, same location. OR, the Jewish beliefs were based on earlier traditions that were distorted over time and corrected again (but not entirely, since the bible itself is also distorted in many ways), but you say it did not come from God Itself as if it were fact. But whether or not you believe in Yahweh (actually YaHoVaH), that's just one version of God Itself, like El Elyon/Shaddai, Allah, Brahman, Ahura Mazda, Shangdi, Hunab Ku, the Great Spirit, among others. I still don't see why you're not a deist or pantheist rather than atheist. Just bc one version of God may be wrong (or distorted, if not outright misunderstood), certainly does not mean there is no God, or that Jesus/Yeshua was not who he said he was. I strongly suggest you regroup

Excellent, informative, and elegantly presented and narrated video. In my own studies of the history of the Judeo-Christian tradition, I have understood that the ancient Hebrews emerged from other Semitic tribes, they were originally polytheistic, like other Semites, and originated as 2 main tribes. The main deity of one was El (in sympathy with other surrounding Semitic tribes) and the other YHWH (which was a secret sound, not a name, the pronunciation of which was like "Iao" or similar string of vowel sounds and influenced by Egyptian mysticism). These tribes ultimately joined. As stated in the video, Yahweh originally was not "the only god," but meant to be the only tribal god of the Hebrews. That is, the Hebrews were not supposed to step outside their culture to worship the gods of surrounding rival cultures, who were also considered to be "real." But they did worship this gods, considering that tracts from the Prophets section is constantly railing against the worship of Baal and other non-Hebrew Semitic deities. Another point about the OT is that, while elements point to historical events, those events are not in chronological order or described according to what we know actually happened via archaeological research. That is, the Biblical accounts are a kind of propaganda. The Genesis creation story is said to be derived from Babylonian mythology, the flood story a ubiquitous across cultures, and the lore about angel. This which carries over into and is reworked by Christianity and Islam. This is also derived from Babylonian culture. Many elements from the New Testament are also legendary and the history of the origins of Christianity how the NT came to be is also complex and quite different than the story ascribed to by Christians. I, however, do not feel that all of this historical evidence about the origin of Judeo-Christian tradition invalidates the religious tradition. All religions and religious philosophies are based on stories that adapt from and often twist and counter stories of preceding and surrounding cultures. As they say, the gods of one culture are the demons of another. Although is it wise to acknowledge that the Judeo-Christian and its god are man made, I think it is is also fair and wise to acknowledge that other elements of the Judeo-Christian tradition have value, especially for the person who can understand symbolic language, metaphor, and the underlying import of moral, philosophical, and spiritual messages within religious literature. Learning about the true origins of religions and and the whys and wherefores of their ontologies can either support one's atheis, which is OK, or else one's tolerance of the need among people for religion, which is OK too.

@Evid3nc3 Thank you so much for your series! The way you present combined with these graphics make for a great way to absorb information! I came across your channel a few weeks ago, and out of all the channels I have come across, yours has helped me the most after my own deconversion two months ago. If you put together a course on how to create a presentation of people’s stories using these simple yet sharp looking graphics, I suspect you could have several students. Like you, many of us have a passion for truth, and feel morally obligated to share our stories in hopes of sparing others further pain in following a false belief system. So much of what you shared in your presentation resonates with my own experience at the core level. The details of what led me to deconversion are different, but regardless, the issues boil down to the same problems. Your simple, sharp and reflective presentation helped me focus on what you have to say while enhancing the understanding of what you are saying. Plus, I feel like your work is shareable material that won’t come across offensive, only thought provoking. Thanks again for your efforts!

This is a fascinating series and I'm so glad you were able to document your decent from Theism into rational thought and a more historically accurate worldview (please see my other comments on your Pantheism video), but i am a little disappointed that you neglected to mention Zoroastrianism and the powerful influence that this Persian religion had on the Israelites during their time of captivity and exile, since it was THIS monotheistic religion, and their righteous god of light Ahura Mazda, who really helped to solidify Jewish Monotheism and served as the ultimate source for many of the beliefs that carried over into Christianity, including: an all-evil god of darkness (Satan), a resurrection of the dead, and a final judgement, etc. P.S. If you talk about this in a later video, please comment and let me know where it is mentioned, because i think it IS highly significant to the evolution of Judeo-Christian Monotheism.

I've listened to this particular video at least 200 times in the last several months. I've heard a few of your others, but I wasn't so quite as impressed as this particular one. The few others I've heard, you try to use special effects, I mean they're common effects, reverb and echo, hoisting the bass, etc. This is the only video where you just calmly speak your mind. Subtle music that backs it up is a great touch. Just sitting in front of the microphone, speak your mind, speak of facts. That's all anyone will ever listen to. I have been in so many situations where I have tried desperately to convince people they don't even know what they're talking about, and they have no clue what god is. But in the last 7 years my life has changed so much I've learned to be, well and this is going to sound ironic, more like Christ. Calm, serene and humble in the face of people who would do me violence. I have never had to raise a hand against anyone during the period when I was homeless and living on the streets. When I angered people, I looked straight in the eye. I raised my hand to their heart, they instantly felt that Now I'm not saying I have any special magic touch or anything, it's so easy to calm the anger. And I find this last particular video extremely calming.

It is a historical fact that the deity Yahweh was in the Canaanite pantheon. Yahweh was revered as a patron of war, and in some cases, creation itself. But this shouldn't come as a surprise to people. All religions adopt from the cultures that existed before them. What makes the god of Christianity / Islam any special in this respect?

+goddamnkids75 Atheism, by definition, is the lack of belief in deities. Many people around the world do not believe in gods (deities). Hedonism is its own philosophy entirely. Most atheists I know of are not hedonists. Buddhists, by definition, are atheists, but are ascetics. "Because they won." What are you implying? What was there to be won? Also, I agree we need to "stick together and not fall", that is most certainly more important than mutual disagreements about theism. No, I'm not 15. Much older, actually. Nice ad hominem argument, by the way. Did you completely ignore my comment?

+goddamnkids75 Sure man... have it your way. Do you believe in the tooth fairy? No? Then you're against the tooth fairy. Do you believe in Santa Claus? No? Then you're against Santa Claus. See the logic you're putting forth? It's rooted in some sensational and romantic view of how you see the world, and it's really quite circular and regressive. So, I'm against my own values? .... I don't think this statement is intelligent enough for a response. If there is no evidence to support the existence of God, then there is no reason to believe in this concept. So what if it's a matter of values? The Muslims have their own values, but you think those are wrong, so what should they do? Not follow their own culture? Cool story bro. That's a statement about the EU itself, not about what I was talking about though. Also, being proud of your birth nation is stupid. You didn't do anything to gain it, your parents fucked, and you were born there. You need to develop a more apt understanding of the word "pride". Also, isn't Christianity against pride? Is that not one of the seven deadly sins?

@0:54 - 0:58, any chance you could correct that "14,000 years ago" to "4,000 years ago"? If you're referring to the Sumerian origins of the Babylonian civilization, that should have been "6,000 years ago" or somewhere thereabouts, at the beginnings of the Sumerian culture. 14,000 years ago predates even the Gobekli Tepe temples in Turkey.

Even the temples at Gobekli Tepe (which may show a transition from animism into anthropomorphized deities - PLURAL deities) are only around 11,500 years old. The bible itself is only around 3,000 years old, & the Israelite gods - rather the Canaanite polytheistic gods that preceded the Israelite gods aren't much older than that.

There are two arguments to refute this video 1.Qur'an states " Many were the Ways of Life that have passed away before you: travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth."3.137. It was those who rejected truth and took for worship many gods that were destroyed in calamities so the unearthed material will also contain the evidence of their polytheistic belief. 2.Those who worship one God will not make idols to worship. How will the archaeologist know that the people in that locality were monotheistic in their belief.If no idol, that does not mean monotheistic, it simply means they might have been making idols from perishable things. Prophet's companion Umar used to make an idol from date, worship it and sleep off , will eat it off when hungry :) At every stage of human history there were both believers and non -believers.Evolution of polytheism into monotheism is simply conjecture

Excellent video. I came to understand this by reading up on the various Creation myths in history. It always struck me as odd how there was a similar strain among them from 1700 BCE through Egyptian and up through the Abrahamic religions. The notion that we get our concept of yahweh from the Canaanites war god. All it took was for a few budding Hebrew leaders to use El/Yahweh as an angry god, and BOOM! Old Testament, baby! And every few centuries times change and more is added or changed to control the minds of people to do things they normally wouldn’t. In this way religion is sinister. While it makes some people do great deeds for their fellow man, it makes many do appalling things. And this “my god is stronger than your god” attitude still exists today. It jus goes to show that despite our advances we’re still too scared of the dark to as a species to be ok with dying and that being the end. These are the same people that claim that without God, People would jus do all kinds of illegal and vile things and society will collapse into anarchy. Well, it’s doing that now because of religion, not atheism.

This video crossed my mind after watching some commentary about Christian fundamentalists. I first watched this video per the recommendation of a friend in high school. It was circa 2011, my last year of high school, and the year I turned 18. I had recently converted from identifying as a Jehovah's witness to a regular Christian, and I was still struggling with aspects of it, specifically prayer, hearing God's voice, that kind of shit. This video and the entire series, I shit you not, turned me from a Christian to an atheist literally overnight. Obviously it was facilitated by the doubts and some questions and thoughts I had at the time, but everything was presented so clearly and reasonably and it just resonated so much. When I see videos of Christian fundamentalists getting ripped to shreds for their shitty views, emotional immaturity, and lack of critical thinking, I'm just so grateful that I did not let that become my life. Evid3nc3, hope you're having a good life. You've done quite a good deed.

In the very beginning, man made idol gods. Then turned all idol gods into an invisible God. Then a peasant formed the delusional opinion that a barbaric attempt to murder his son on a mountain is the best way to establish a communication link with the invisible moral God. Then they made up the slavery promoting OT and claimed it to be the holy words of the timeless moral God; But later fixed some of its immoralities and re-released it as the new holy words of the timeless moral God. To back up their delusional beliefs, they made up miracle stories like virgin birth, resurrection, and walking on water. Religion is now a multi-billion dollar a year business successfully threatening the vulnerable naive with an imaginary hell for not believing in an imaginary God and rewarding their gullibility with an imaginary heaven. Salvation is a solution to a problem religion business has created. It's like someone going around cutting people with a knife in order to sell band-aid. Alex Snowberg I sat there and watched the whole thing. They were all defensive, like "That's so ridiculous." about silly little points and then they basically agreed with him about everything. So I commented about how defensive they were and they got all defensive again. XD It basically went nowhere.

You are kind of putting your own spin on things here. Of course, even without the historical context given by sources outside of the Bible, we know the Israelites struggled with polytheism. This isn't new, or shocking information. And, yeah, people wrote the Bible and people struggled over what should be believed. This is all documented in the Bible. Did you think God delivered the Bible on a golden platter from heaven? You see, the way Christians see the Bible is as a development. From the understanding of God to the understanding of salvation. I would never say the first believers in God knew everything. We don't even know everything now. There is simply no reason to believe based on this that God is a human invention. That was your prior belief being snuck in without being entailed by the evidence. It could be just as likely that God gave revelation over time to people refining our view of God.

What about the literal thousands of other gods that have existed from the beginning of human collective civilization? I suppose that makes all of those gods 100% real and reputable in every sense. But of course, that doesn't align with your worldview, so those gods must be inventions of other cultures. There are still 2000 people worshipping the ancient Roman / Greek pantheon of gods. A singular god is an invention of humans to them, as I'm sure their gods are to monotheists. The only people that are in the right, in any form of religious debate, are those that state that there is no significant evidence for any form of god, therefore I do not believe there is one: Claiming that there IS infact a god, human made or otherwise, rests the burden of proof upon the claimant. It is the duty of religious people to present evidence FOR god, and not for atheists / generally intelligent people to provide evidence against god, if religious people generally want their claims to be considered. That's basic debating and logical form. The burden of proof does not, however, lie upon those stating certainly that there is no god; as proving an ever changing "all powerful" (not to mention unviewable) god is impossible to disprove. You can't disprove something that is claimed not to be perceivable in any way.

@Tdisputations 10 жыл бұрын
Blazara You are not really addressing the topic at hand. The topic is whether the claims in the video imply that God was created by man. Clearly not. That's without even disputing the claims. That said, the reason I do not accept that the greco-roman gods exist is because I have seen no evidence for them. I think it is possible that they exist, but yeah, I would suspect they were invented. Why do you think I believe in God if I don't think there is evidence for God? You're being a bit silly. I have no doubts you know Christians have arguments for God's existence. If not, then search google; it's that simple. You're not being honest comparing God to greco-roman gods. We don't have arguments for their existence in peer-reviewed journals.

***** Evidence for God? Measurable, observable, debatably quantitative evidence? That sounds like a treat; please direct me to some that would stand up under any form of scientific investigation. For every piece of "evidence" for God, there are a thousand calculable flaws in the events within the Bible. Noah's flood for instance. Seriously, that shit is ridiculous. Creationism as a whole is ridiculous. And I swear, if you pull that "some of it's only metaphorical" bullshit, I will not reply; you can't pick and choose what you believe if you don't want atheists to pick and choose parts of the Bible to highlight flaws in Christian morals and reasoning.

Blazara Thomas Aquinas' first and third ways, for example. Both of these arguments use measurable facts like motion and contingency. It's not really controversial. Again, look through some peer-reviewed journals on the existence of God some time rather than repeating what non-experts like Richard Dawkins claim. You don't seem to understand how the culture worked in the ancient world. They had all kinds of myths that the people were into and likely believed to some degree. All the Bible does is take those myths and removes the mythology from those stories to portray a more accurate picture of God. It's like how the movie Noah changed the story of Noah to better reflect modern day culture. It's just a product of culture; doesn't mean there are not truths to be found in it.

***** Are you trying to claim that there is a nugget of truth behind the "Great Flood" stories? Despite the fact that they all originate from the same Mesopotamian valley? The story is absurd. I believe the Bible also states that beyond the firmament was a layer of water that fell to Earth as rain. Absolute bollocks of the highest order. As for Aquinas' ways.. www .rejectionofpascalswager.net/aquinas.html As the author of this page so kindly shows; Aquinas' views are only plausible to those that have practically no knowledge of physics or of anything on a subatomic level. In response to the third way: that's the most moronic and fallatic argument I think I've ever read. Physicists are working on how "something comes from nothing" as we speak; read some papers by Krauss, the man is a genius. Quoted from the linked page itself regarding the third way. "It is noted that the conclusion of the Cosmological Argument is that there exists a being who owes its existence only to itself and nothing else. But it should be remembered that one of the basic premise of the argument is that there is no being that owes its existence to itself. This openly contradicts the final conclusion, which states that God is the being that owes its existence to itself. Thus the third way commits an elementary logical fallacy." *EDIT* I find your claim that I must know little about ancient world cultures deeply insulting. I've studied Latin language alongside Roman and Greco civilizations to a high level through personal study. I've also read a number of books and articles regarding Babylonian mythology, as well as a number of articles, books, and archaeological papers on the peoples of ancient Britain and Central America.

BCE/CE are used by many archaeologists and historians as BC/AD just aren't very accurate for their names. The man it was based on, Jesus, was born around 6 or 7 BC, or before Christ. This doesn't seem like a big deal, but it does mean if BC/AD was accurate we would be in 2021 AD or so. Personally I don't want to base a system on inaccuracies, but I guess everyone's different.

@Mantafirefly 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, yeah it does sound legit. We have the honesty to say when we don't know why the universe exists. People with faith insist they have the answer, but because it's faith, it is an answer presented with no evidence or compelling reasons, making it irrational and at the same time promoting the arrogance of your comment. It is also an answer which stifles the search for real answers. Your faith can be dismissed as easily as we both dismiss the faith of any other religion.

Mantafirefly No Evidence? Sorry but the Universe is Fine Tuned for Life so we have Scientific Evidence to support it. www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2013/08/carbon-12-of-giant-red-stars-does-it-suggest-a-universe-fine-tuned-for-life.html You on the other hand have not, where is Randomness Nothingness and Luck in Science? The Universe MUST came from something, this something cannot be eternal materialistic something because as we know it violates the constants so where is the reason? How can you put reason over faith while your nihilistic view of the world doesn't support reason? Reason = Determinism
@Mantafirefly
@Mantafirefly 10 жыл бұрын
If you think the fine tuning argument is a case for your specific christian god of the burning bushes, global floods and a magically resurrecting illogical virgin born man, then you're completely missing the point of how much evidence you need to provide since there are MILLIONS of other proposed spirits, gods and other fanciful ideas which are all congruent with that idea. If this is you putting your best foot forward then you may as well stop now. Why is it that the religious always have to play word games to argue for their god? If it exists, then show evidence, not word salad. The Universe seems deterministic to me. And it's silly that you think you can say the universe must come from something and then propose something that conveniently doesn't come from anything. It's so hypocritical. You can point at all of the unknowns in science all you want. They're unknown, and that's that for now. It doesn't give you a free license to insert whatever magical thinking you want.

Mr JimFit P.S God is one because he is Eternal, you don't say Eternities or Materialisms so you don't say Gods, there is no plural for these words. People express God with different religions but this proves God, when every culture talks about God something made them talk about it, they feel its presence. The default position is that we are immaterial beings so its no one brainwashed us about God, read this experiment that proves my point. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/01/140127164835.htm

"P.S God is one because he is Eternal, you don't say Eternities or Materialisms so you don't say Gods, there is no plural for these words." Word salad nonsense, did you even watch the video you're commenting on? Your god Yahweh is one of a former polytheist religion. "People express God with different religions but this proves God," This is called the "Argumentum ad populum" fallacy. It doesn't matter how many people believe some spirituality, it doesn't prove any god, let alone *your* god. All of the people in the world once childishly assumed the earth was flat and the sun went around it, that didn't make them right either, in fact it rather demonstrates that the ideas humans dreamt up while as tribal barbarians were mostly wrong. It's funny isn't it? You're trying to prove a god that is defined as being everywhere, wants to have a personal relationship, actively intervenes, constructed the cosmos and wrote the bible. This should be *easy* to prove. Yet the best evidence after 2,000 years is that "People feel its presence" and a few wishy washy word games. *Wow*. Where's the hard stuff and the real evidence? It's so bad that I don't think you're able to see how bad it is. After all, you quoted that link thinking it supports your view when it actually demonstrates the human capacity to make up gods independently of other humans doing the same. *Your god is just another one of these made up fantasies* most likely forced onto you before you had the mental maturity to assess them.

Adam and Eve story is also Canaanite related cuz we Canaanites have found our ancestors mythos of Adimi and Habiha which they were in the garden of Yadinu and eat the fruit from trickery of demonic serpents and we're kicked out by Baal whom sent his angels Malakima with swords to drive out the first man and woman. So genesis 1 also is Canaanite in origin.

This video islies and flips truth on its head.The God of the bible and its people is much about the conflict with the canaanites and the babylonians. The bible specifically mentions how many figures took Yahweh as one of their Gods. The bible explains this, this is not an example of Yahweh being descended from the a pantheon of God, but groups of people that included Yahweh as one of theirs among many, which also in the bible explicitly speaks about with great detail. See Esau and Solomon who also partook in this. The still claimed to worship God, but additionally served other ones as well. Its quote ironic we dont see any follows of baal or of the babylonian pantheons today. You are right about one thing though that in the pagan relioions the Gods are interchangeable. From babylon to egypt to persia to geece and to rome. Also explained in the bible. a very poor, ill informed irrational video.

the worshipers of the other cananite gods were killed. if you read through the bible you will see the jews depicting themselves as killing the believes in the gods they considered false. for example "the queen of heaven" described in jerahmia was a possible reference to the canaanite goddress asherah. the name beelzebub (which means lord of flies) is a intentional renaming of another god whos name ment the lord on high. the jews werent exactly tolerant to people who worshiped gods other than yhwh.
