Welcome to Elements of Justice! The sequel to the Ace Attorney x My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic crossover, Turnabout Storm!
After the events of Turnabout Storm, Phoenix Wright returned home to continue his life as a lawyer. During this time, he experienced the dark age of the law which he helped bring to an end, thanks to his new allies Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes. However, during those tumultuous years in the human world, only a year and a half passed for Twilight and her friends. For them, a dark cloud has begun to form over Equestria, with supposed murders now becoming an ever-present issue, threatening to destroy the harmony which has reigned for so long.
Will the Wright Anything Agency save Equestria… or will their return bring about its total collapse?

@@gaalxystar1873 now imagine if there was a "what if.." or whatever to this entire series, something crazy like "what if sweetie bell was the true culprit?" I know this probably couldn't all be possible in reality unless it took place in a different universe, because they set up this entire series to be able to actually be able to be apart of the lore of the mlp series, none of the main characters are effected enough to where it would change them in the series, maybe these last couple episodes it would be a lash on sweetie bell for months, but if this series was put into lore RIGHT after season 9 episode 25, then I suppose this all could be possible since the time spikes between season 9 episode 25 to 26 are unknown, but to the least we know is a very long time.

(Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn’t watched the video yet.) Before anything else, I have to get something off of my chest: this case has gone on far too long. I have enjoyed every moment of it, don’t get me wrong. The character development, the high quality animation, the writing that’s left us on the edge of our seats - it’s all been incredible. But 9 parts?! That’s three times the length of Turnabout Theatre! Not only that, but it’s now longer than the original Turnabout Storm project - both with the number of videos and its overall runtime. And there are supposedly two or three more cases to come? How long will those be? 20 parts?! In all seriousness, though, this episode has confirmed the next video will be the last for this case. So we’ll be moving on with the overarching story soon. In the meantime, let’s see how this part became a masterclass in engaging storytelling. Prior to its release, the AlJavis and his team said that no one was prepared for episode 8. And by the end of it, they were right. This instalment literally changes everything we thought we knew about the case. Information from the previous trial gets retconned, and it changes our perspectives of certain characters and their motivations. To better explain what I mean, let’s go through the trail’s key moments. Starting with Sweetie Belle’s long-awaited testimony. Considering how desperate the young filly was to remain silent (eps 2-7), it’s no surprise she’s not entirely truthful here. Like a true attorney, though, Athena’s cross-examination reveals some vital information. For one thing, she proves that Sweetie Belle couldn’t have treated her wound from the Timberwolves; she can’t recreate the tourniquet she supposedly made, and would’ve been too weak to do so (30:38-34:13). The only way she could’ve left the forest alive is if she had help. And with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon re-testifying their movements that night, the identity of her saviour is made clear; because Silver Spoon’s glasses were only partially broken (43:18-45:01), she didn’t stay with Diamond Tiara the whole time (46:00-49:27), and she has some medical knowledge since both her parents are doctors (49:27). Before I elaborate further, I just want to acknowledge the incredible job the writing team has done to give Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon character development in this project. It was never specifically explained in the TV series how or why they became friends. Here, though, not only do we have a believable backstory, but it shows why their friendship isn’t as strong or genuine as the CMC’s. Diamond and Silver met by chance at a party thrown by the former’s parents. They gravitated towards each other because they realised they had something in common: neither of their parents spent much time with them. To fill that gap in their lives, they agreed to stick together and become friends. However, unlike the CMC’s friendship - which was formed through a common passion (cutie marks) - theirs’ was forged on bitterness. Those feelings developed into bullying overtime, as Silver Spoon became influenced by the same selfish teachings of Diamond Tiara’s mother. It got to the point where Diamond would lead Silver along in their relationship and talk down to her if she disagreed with anything. In the end, there were times Silver Spoon was only her friend because she was worried of being alone again (1:22:08-1:22:23). Knowing this backstory, it makes sense why the fillies would fallout in ‘Crusaders of the Lost Mark’. It also shows how Silver Spoon isn’t all that mean - she’s just misguided. After all, for as much as she and Diamond Tiara despise the CMCs, she would never leave one of them to die. She even confides in Sweetie Belle about her problems with Diamond and offers to hang out sometime (1:20:59-1:23:13). It’s a touching moment for her character. But it, unfortunately, leads to betrayal. With all this new information, Athena works out why Sweetie Belle didn’t want to be questioned before; she may not have killed any pony, but she’s committed several crimes of her own. It all started with her wanting to get the roll of fabric back from Scootaloo; going into the forest resulted in her being wounded near the statue. Then, in an effort to clear Scootaloo’s name, she sent the anonymous tip about Turning Page killing his father (1:23:48) - thus betraying the Crusaders’ friendship with him. Rather than getting her friend acquitted, though, both Scootaloo and Turning were put on trial, making things harder on Athena. Worse still, with the magazine cuttings still in her house, and her own blood at the scene of the murder, Sweetie Belle made herself look guilty of the crime. Desperate for a way out, she decided to take advantage of Silver Spoon. Threatening to reveal the latter’s feelings about her friend, and the theft of the potion bottle, she orchestrated the break-in at Rarity’s boutique (1:24:47-1:27:00). That way, Silver Spoon could steal the magazine and hide it at Diamond Tiara’s house. What’s more, by planting it there, Sweetie Belle intended to have Diamond framed for misleading the case as revenge for what she’d done to the CMCs (1:24:57-1:25:16). Hearing everything Sweetie Belle said, I couldn’t believe how uncharacteristically sly she’d acted. “Blackmail. Framing. Subterfuge. Lying.” As Athena says so, herself, in trying to help Scootaloo, Sweetie ended up doing exactly what Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon had. The reality of it leaves the filly broken (1:28:21-1:29:21) - much like the rest of us. And the worst part is, we don’t know yet if she’ll face repercussions for these unlawful actions. However, you might be wondering: what does all of this have to do with Royal Order’s murder? That’s where the craziness begins. You see, despite it being the theory that proved Scootaloo and Turning Page’s innocence, Athena comes to the conclusion that there never was a Royal Order clone (1:33:55-1:40:10). The evidence supporting that claim only surfaced after the idea was mentioned in the previous trial (1:40:57-1:41:39). Which means Fair Devotion, Private Eye and Sugar Stamp must’ve forged their story around it then. Furthermore, with a new perspective on everyone’s whereabouts that night, Athena realises there’s now one pony who isn’t accounted for (1:48:48-1:50:28); somepony who could’ve moved the body, and hidden behind it, to create the illusion that it was still be breathing (1:54:13-1:55:24). With that in mind, it finally makes sense why Fair Devotion and her group were trying so hard to make Sugar Stamp appear guilty. It wasn’t because they wanted to gain something from Royal Order’s death. On the contrary, they were trying to protect somepony they all cared deeply about. Indeed, when Athena, Luna and everyone else works out the true killer’s identity, it’s one of the most chilling revelations of the series. Not helping is the eerily foreboding music (1:47:23-1:53:07), the shakiness in the actors’ voices (1:48:48-1:51:47), and the looks of pure horror on the characters’ faces (1:47:23/1:47:40/1:50:31). The last 10-15mins had me clutching myself in terror. But is this horror the real truth? Is that why Turning Page insisted that Athena should support his mom (16:04-16:30)? All we can do is wait to find out. In conclusion, this episode more than lived up to the hype from the Elements of Justice team. The way they managed to build up an unbelievable explanation (cloning), only to give an equally crazy counter argument is a precedent to how well-crafted the writing is. I feel like I’m getting new emotional experiences with every new part that’s released. Sometimes they’re wholesome, sometimes my they’re mind-blowing, and other times I’m left shaken to the core. Whatever the feeling, though, I can never get enough of it. I honestly don’t know where the trial goes from here. Or how it can possibly be drawn out further. After what we’ve seen so far, practically anything could happen. But that’s what makes this series so engaging. Please continue to support this incredible group of talented people. And, until next time, stay tuned.

That asterisk is a *massive* asterisk. It is nearly impossible for that series if events to take place without us having figured it out by this point. Considering there’s an entire episode left of this trial, there *has* to be something critical we’re missing. We’ve proven definitively that there was no way for clones to be involved, so there was only one body and one murder that night. Assuming that Turning Page *did* commit patricide, the best assumption we can make is this: Turning Page and his father were by the Nightmare Moon statue. Perhaps they were sparring after Royal Order successfully found his son, perhaps they were having a real argument or physical altercation, in which case it’s possible that somehow Turning Page shoved his father into the statue, killing him. Alternatively, perhaps Fair Devotion is telling the truth that Turning Page is claiming responsibility for something he didn’t actually do but she also didn’t kill him. The timber wolf fang found at the castle crime scene (if I’m remembering correctly) has yet to be relevant to the case if memory serves. And we know from Sweetie Belle’s confession that Timber Wolves were out and about, but they also obviously didn’t eat the body of the clone. So it’s possible what happened is that Royal Order was protecting his son and was killed while fending off the attacking timber wolves, at which point Turning Page either accidentally or otherwise caused the first clang which scared them off for a time. At this point, regardless of either scenario, Turning Page dragged or levitated the body to the crossroads, but then saw Scootaloo racing towards him, forcing him to drop his father and hide to avoid being spotted. Turning Page had obviously removed the armor at this stage to lighten the load. After Scootaloo fled, Fair Devotion discovers the body and either assuming Turning Page is guilty and covering for him or simply trying to help assure her sons innocence despite how it looks, lifts the body and keeps the blood contained as she’s an older, more powerful unicorn than Turning Page. She brings the body to the Castle to change the location of the crime scene, maybe planting the timber wolf fang in order to lessen suspicion towards her son, and leaves with Turning Page, likely using extensive use of teleportation to avoid either Zecora or anyone else seeing them. Something tells me Fair Devotion is a much more powerful Unicorn than we realize considering how hard she can smack that pointer thing around. Once the body moved, Diamond Tiara arrives and discovers the body, planting the cape and fleeing before Zecora then arrives. I know that some of these events happened out of order based on what we know, but as of now this explanation makes the most sense to me. We’ll certainly have more than one final testimony in the next episode, there’s no way this is over in one testimony. Perhaps that option in Athena’s mind dive for “Time-Travel Magic” was foreshadowing how there could be two Royal Orders in two places? Unlikely but possible.

@@MrLegendofLP this is close to what I think as well. I honestly dont think Turning killed Royal Order... I think somepony/thing attacked Turning and Royal Order tried to save him. Been so busy working that I haven't been able to catch up recently with the newly added parts for Case 2 on Elements of Justice. *HEAVY SPOILERS BELOW. PLEASE WATCH THIS EMOTIONALLY CHARGED PART BLIND.* I gotta say this has hands down been a damn great time in capturing the essence of what defines Ace Attorney & MLP:FiM, being it's in-depth characterization. The way you've woven the thematic weight of friendship and trust from both respective franchises into your series really goes to show the respect and passion y'all have for paying tribute to what these two franchises have accomplished, overall. The writing for the characters from their respective casts is ridiculously on point in portraying what makes them emotionally tick. Absolutely love what you have done with Athena's arc of development tying it into characters like Twilight & Luna, which is a clever way to flesh chemistry between them, too! This climatic part blew me away with the revelations and pay offs, akin to how anyone would feel playing an Ace Attorney game in real time, which to think this wasn't the even the climatic conclusion yet has me hyped for how you are going to finish this emotionally jam packed case. Each big moment hit like a freight truck whether it was Sweetie Belle's near death moment, Sweetie collapsing in tears over being so desperate to help her friends with this plan to frame Turning Page it only caused more distrust and harm in the process, Athena & Luna's dreadful realization that Turning Page had likely killed his father somehow, and then lastly Fair Devotion jumping in like any devoted mother would to save her kid. God, what an excellent pay off to all the building blocks you've been slowly putting into place. You & your creative team are freaking truly awesome for pulling this feat off. Beyond ecstatic for the conclusion to all this!

@@AceAttorneyElementsofJustice *MORE MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW* You're so very welcome! Thanks a ton for building upon the foundation Turnabout Storm previously left evolving it further. You've done such an impressive job in giving Athena terrific development throughout this second case. Honestly, this is everything I could possibly want for Athena's character to grow into after Dual Destinies events. Spirit of Justice didn't unfortunately do much with her character development wise and this dedicated project has poured so much life into what makes Athena such an endearing addition to Ace Attorney's cast. Can't give enough props to y'all for doing that! In hindsight, it was a brilliant idea to place her in a scenario where, much like in Dual Destinies final case, Athena must confront a grim reality. If Athena is going to give it her all in becoming an attorney, then she must also be reminded this line of work can be seriously emotionally taxing on anyone. She wants to help save people and what better way to give her that challenge, than throwing Athena head first into a case, where it looks apparent Turning Page played a part in killing his father? Never mind the tension and stakes that come from this, but it's the perfect opportunity to put Athena in a mental bind, too. She went through a personal Hell years ago blaming herself for her mother's grisly death, where these days Athena is determined to not be defined by that huge PTSD. However, once the pieces start to fall into place clicking in Athena's mind her heart skipped a beat when Turning Page couldn't be accounted for in disappearing. Never again did Athena want to experience tremendous fear of this magnitude in her life, yet there she was once more. Feeling all the intense anxiety, sadness, and crushing notion that yet another child, akin to Athena, watched their own parent get brutally slaughtered. God, the whole scene with Athena & Luna trying to maintain composure, as the new ominous details were emerging, was executed horrifically well. It reminded me of when the Phantom's identity in Dual Destinies was revealed to be Detective Bobby Fulbright, except this courtroom scene in Elements of Justice was even MORE foreboding. Athena's VA did such a great job portraying her reluctantly asking those important questions to get further clarification before outright accusing Turning Page. This entire scene was nothing short of how to pull that rug from under the viewer's feet in a most grim way. No other way to put it besides saying Athena's development throughout this whole case has been wonderfully done. Having Athena relive traumatic moments from her dark past, as she weaved the unfortunate truth together, is an emotionally potent hurdle. A potent hurdle Athena needed to come to terms with that no matter what happens, the truth must be brought to light. As for the revelations around Sweetie Belle just...freaking damn. I didn't think she'd be responsible for being behind that anonymous tip directed at Turning Page. Although, for a case's consistent theme centered around characters struggling to trust one another, it's very resonating, indeed. As mentioned at one point earlier, those you deeply trust will also be the one's whose betrayal can sting most of all and Sweetie Belle's whole confession was beyond disheartening. Luna's entire reaction to it all was so interesting to watch seeing do her best to be emotionally reserved, in spite of how drained she looked from everything that has transpired from this and it's only going to get worse from here on out after what has occurred. Concerned for Scootaloo's safety, like any good friend would be, Sweetie Belle's determination became so strong she was reluctantly willing to pin the blame on another child. By the time all was said and done, Sweetie Belle got herself in so deep this kid felt there was no other way out except to lie more and manipulate Silver Spoon on top of that in order to cover her tracks. Bitterness at Tiara, wracked with guilt, and trying to reason it as "helping" her friends consumed Sweetie Belle to the point of taking things as far as she did, which makes a heartbreaking amount of sense hitting close to home. Pulling off a twist of this emotional magnitude and still being able to keep Sweetie Belle in a very sympathetic light was very well written. The child couldn't bear to face her closest friends, her sister, and most importantly couldn't forgive herself for adding more fuel to the fire. Sweetie Belle's break down was equivalent to feeling hit by a train at full speed because I got so misty eyed. Such a carefully crafted dramatic case in general that I needed gush more in greater detail. There's so much to enjoy here.

You're not wrong at all when you say this was the most ambitious episode yet. *SPOILER REVIEW AHEAD* So for one, I didn't expect a Thought Route segment this early, considering those are usually reserved for putting the final nail in the coffin for a trial. But this whole time it seems the trial has beaten around the bush, in the best way possible. Understanding everything that happened aroudn the murder and knowing the actions of everyone really narrows things down. It took me a hot second to understand where Athena was going in pretty much every part of this trial, especially near the end. When I heard the music creeping in, I had a large feeling that things were about to go very dark, but I didn't expect us to essentially go back to square one. I remember playing a fanmade case on Ace Attorney Online, where Phoenix told Apollo, "It's your job to find this man guilty." In classic Objection format, Apollo presents his attorney badge. He states that even though he put so much effort into trying to find a man guilty in court, and failing to do so, that was never the point. The point is to find the truth. That's the real job he has. Same applies to Mia, Phoenix, and Athena. And Athena was right about what she thinking too. When she put all the pieces together, after learning everything she had up to that point, it was the only conclusion. "When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how absurd, must be the truth." I'm worried for both Turning and Fair Devotion. It seems at this point, it's narrowed down to either of them having been the true murderer. Unless we take a TS approach and say there was no murder after all, but I doubt that will be the case. Three Equestrian murder cases in a row where no murder actually happened? Twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern. Anyway, from a technical standpoint, you really put your all into this. Revealing the unique poses like Sweetie Belle crying, both Athena and Luna's "shocked to the core" expressions, and utilizing what you already had in terms of sprites to convey new emotion, it all drives the message you were trying to show loud and clear. And of course the VAs make it even better. They knew when to be silent and when to let it all out at the perfect times. Athena and Luna are definitely the stars of this episode, I'd say. I was hoping the trial would keep going to hear Fair Devotion's final testimony, but yeah, we have to wait just a little more. It's been how long? *checks notes* 1.5 years, almost exactly, up to this point. We've waited this long, and as nerve-wracking as it is to wait for this conclusion, at least I'm soothed a bit knowing it will finally end.

If Turning Page _does_ end up being the culprit; there's no way someone as honourable and responsible as him would want to go free if Double Jeopardy is applicable to this case. Heck, Honour aside, he's going to feel guilt for that murder; nay, that _patricide_ for the rest of his life and he will almost certainly want to atone in the way that would be seen as 'just' in society by turning himself in.

If it’s three times a pattern, it would make sense in a way because it’s been hinted that something is going on behind the scenes, something bigger. Or there could be a third option: someone manipulated the events going on to intentionally lead it to Royal Order’s death. We already there’s somebody behind the scenes manipulating the last case, and the same could be said here.

Just when I think I'm starting to understand things, the story takes a complete 180 and throws me for a loop. the writers know what they're doing, and to that I commend them on their work. Keep it up. I'm eager to see what magic you pull out for the case 2 finale.

Holy crapbaskets...I've been waiting for this moment, but I had no idea what we were going to get coming into it...This was incredible, heart-pounding, and heart-rending. You guys have been doing an outstanding job with this series. Spoilers ahead in this comment, of course. Athena was really on the ball this time around, just like the last part. It's a good thing she asked for Sonata's help, too. She uncovered some really crucial pieces of evidence. But Turning Page's remark about his mom...What did he mean by that?... Finally, the truth from Sweetie Belle. She's been stubbornly silent all of this time, but thanks to Athena, we've finally uncovered her role in that night's events. I have to admit, I couldn't possibly have imagined what really happened... So Sweetie was badly hurt by a timberwolf attack, and it was Silver Spoon who rescued her, thanks to her knowledge of medicine from her parents. They also had a heart-to-heart about the difference between the Crusaders' friendship and that between Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, showing that, at the time, Silvy wasn't sure if their friendship was genuine. It was really sad hearing her talk like that, but it's not unexpected from the fandom's general consensus on her bond with Diamond... But what came next...I can hardly believe it. Sweetie Belle sent the anonymous tip about Turning Page to try and save Scootaloo, because she was afraid of implicating herself from her blood being at the scene, and it was Silver Spoon who broke into the boutique and got rid of the evidence of the letter, coerced and blackmailed by Sweetie Belle. In the end, she still ended up suspected, and caused a lot of pain and heartache for her friends and sister by her actions, acting no better than Diamond Tiara for blackmailing the Crusaders. When she realized it, it just broke my heart... Even so, that didn't answer how Royal Order was killed, and thanks to a Revisualization, we got hit with a real doozy of a turnabout: there WAS no clone that night! It was a fabrication cooked up after the theory was first postulated, with everything being set up to support it! But then, what became a nagging doubt for Athena became horribly manifest as the evidence and testimony supported her theory...Could it be that...Turning Page really did kill his own father?! And Sweetie Belle's anonymous tip was the truth of what she saw?... But of course, I had a feeling we hadn't seen the last of Fair Devotion, and I don't know what to think anymore. Did Turning really kill his father, and Fair Devotion is trying to protect him, or did she actually kill her own husband? The latter would only be true if the love triangle between her, Royal Order, and Sugar Stamp really existed, or if there was something else between her and Royal Order... But this is it, everyone. Next time, we finally bring this baffling and emotionally-charged case to a close, with one last testimony from Fair Devotion...
@jaedynp-a7705
@jaedynp-a7705 Жыл бұрын
I’m going with the fact that Fair devotion is trying to protect her son and she Sugar stamp and Private eye were willing to work with this as well considering they were friends with his dad. Which would explain Sugar stamps fake confession and why Private eye forged evidence.

Turning page knew that once he was indicted his mother would immediately try to take the fall for him, and he doesn't want her to suffer for his mistake.

@@thelonemask @Jaedyn P-A That does seem to be where the story is taking us by this point. There's one thing that troubles me, however. Turning Page, along with Scootaloo, has already been proven innocent for Royal Order's murder. That can't just be overturned if he IS guilty, can it? That would fall under double jeopardy: a suspect can't be convicted for the same crime twice.

@@thelonemask That could very well be how it plays out. Mind you, I don't WANT Turning Page to have killed his father. I'm just trying to see how all of this could end by this point.

The wait was worth it to see what has happened and what has been proven in the trial, gotta love this series with it's outstanding writing, character development, and of course the intensity made at every corner we see here to the very end I know it'll take long for the next episode and so on, but hey as long as we keep getting top quality story telling like this then I'm all in for it, have a good rest when you finish it guys, you all deserve a break from doing such long story making like this

God, this chapter really exceeded my expectations, all the twists and turns really shook me to the core. But wow what really shocked me was that this case is similar to what Phoenix Wright did in the beginning Apollo Justice, I really love those references. Also I can't wait to see the conclusion of this case, I look forward to see Apollo Justice taking a new case, and of course, what many secrets the gang will uncover. I can't imagine how complicated was for you to make this chapter, but your efforts are proving to be worth it and you have my utmost support! Keep doing the great job!
