My first 4wd was a prado vzj95. A great 4wd. I ended up getting into a manual Amarok because I wanted a manual, I got to a stage where the obstacles I was attempting required a rear locker, and the fuel consumption was silly... I recon a manual Prado with a rear locker would have solved it mostly anyway. I had to buy the Amarok and have it on the driveway, to actually get to the point of selling my Prado cause I liked it too much!

Personally I would take the Prado over the Landcruiser simply because most of a persons driving, mine as well, is done on the black top. The comfort levels and styling of the Prado are much nicer. If you need to be towing a 3.5t Caravan than maybe you should just buy an RV or stay home. The 76 in my opinion is way too industrial for daily driving and given the price point on this one and older ones you would expect more creature comforts, even simply the same wheel track front & rear would be a bonus. As for the Prado being a Landcruiser question, Nope never, They were designed to compete the with Pajero and copied a lot especially in the older models.

Best thing is fuel capacity, able to just keep going to destination. More power would be good but I’m learning to just push harder on loud pedal. We tow at 100 kph, on LT 265/65r17 tyres. Because it was the birthplace of the Prado. 1990-96 70 Series Prado basically has the same body, coils at each corner, auto and a turbo 4 cly diesel. Its funny that its nearly come full circle to where the Prado started from. Very enjoyable to see the LC150 Prado and being compared back to the LC76.

Im not sure why they keep saying the prado isn't a LC. Only LC' are made in the LC factory in Japan. Specifically the 70 series, the prado and the 200(discontinued)/300 series. The 70 series is for industrial/ farm/commercial use, the 200/300 series for towing duties and comfort, the prado slots right in the middle offering a compromise of everything. at 5:14 you guys are discussing roof load rating. where did you get the number of 120 kg for the prado? here in switzerland the official rating is 80kg, but apparently that is a conservative estimate and is actually the rating of the factory rails. in ronny's other video on roof ratings 100kg is given for the prado 150. Finally, here in switzerland there is company that can get your roof rating tested and certified for 250 kg. so far, i just load as much as needed, as little as possible, but that's not a particularly solid way to go about things. a definitive answer would still be appreciated 🤷
@user-yl9vs9eh1wАй бұрын
My 2018 LC150, second highest EU trim which has the integrated rails, says 80KG. The manual mentions 100KG if the directly mounted tripple crossbars are used instead (they're Toyota OEM but manufactured by ARB). Same rating as for example the new Defender, although that one has interesting notice in manual, to make it 70perc. for off-roading. Because of this, I hesitated to mount 270W awning next to my iKamper since that one is already almost 80KG and awnings are additional 20-30KG. Imho it has nothing to do with roof or rails for most part, but mainly due to ride characteristic&safety. Another interesting thing Defender has in manual that the dynamic load rating goes up with stronger off-road tyres, meaning the dynamic load rating might be mostly influenced by moose test/corner swaying.
