I've been wanting to see this show in person for years. My wife and I finally made it over there this year, I finally got to see the these big brutes in action. What a great show!!!!!! I love them all,but I would have to say the Rite "Earthquake" is definitely my favorite. I consider it a privilege to be able to have seen these beasts in person.

Seeing that Steiger Tiger III brings back some memories since all the Steigers were built in my town, I have almost 100 hrs in a Steiger Bearcat II doing fall deep disking that made that tractor really get down and grunt if I remember correctly the disk I was pulling weighed around 25,000 pounds just by itself, it was a lot of fun till you got a little to close to the swamp and buried the disk then we had a 903 Versatile to assist in pulling the whole mess out of the hole you dug it into!

I drove a Case 2870 pulling a 32' tandem disc, 40' big sweep rig and a 60' rod weeder in the Texas Panhandle in the early 70's. When you let the clutch out on one of those you don't move; the Earth does.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am not a farmer so when I saw the headline 2870 hp tractor, I naturally thought that one tractor had that much. It would have been much clearer if it would have said 5 tractors with a combined hp of 2870 will have a plow off. The power of words!

@Romans--bo7br
@Romans--bo7br 2 жыл бұрын
@@beckywatt5048.... Nice guess, Becky... but no. The Rite ("Eathquake") is powered by a 12-71TA, and 8-92's in High Performance Marine trim can make over 1K. I've seen Marine 8-92TiB's from the factory, rated to 820 hp. The factory designed the block and lower end to reliably handle 1250hp, though I've seen a few High Performance 8-92TiB's and TA's on the dyno producing nearly 1500 hp at 3,000 rpm. Two of the most widely sold Marine 6-71TiB's from J&T was their 465 & 485 hp versions.... and Very reliable. DD had a "test" 6-71TA-X on the dyno back in 1971 that ran non-stop / 24/7 for two weeks at 2,550 rpm under full load and was developing a steady 756 / 758 hp.... tear-down after the test revealed NO measurable wear. The 12-71 that I set up and tuned, years back for the "Lady Butterfly" sled puller (NTPA SuperPro Semis), was developing (depending on weather, air density, track elevation, etc.) 2,350 - 2,500+ hp and a little over 3,000 lbs ft of torque..... and NEVER "blew it up" in over 11,000 "hooks" during its years of sled pulling.... and that, was After it was retired from Over the Road trucking since it was new in 1974 (KW 900L)... with 1.6M miles "on the clock". When on the sleds, we ran it at 4,000 to 4,200 rpm.... but there are a Lot of "tricks" to building a 2 cycle Detroit to those levels.... and keeping it Reliable. The Only (engine) issue we ever had was, it spun the no.6 main bearing during a pull, back in 1996... but had it back up an running a few days later, and never had another issue with the engine again, until the "Butterfly" was sold in 2013, due to the owners declining health.

The "Big Bud" that is in the video that you sent me the link for, is a 525/50 and is NOT the "Thee" Big Bud that the Williams brothers own and which was the reason for my initial response, above.. to "jimmie little" and his comment specifically mentioning the Big Bud "747". Ron and his crew, built dozens of Cummins KTA, NTC, NTA & NHC powered models, as seen in your video which is powered by the KTA - 525hp version, but there was only ONE unit built (special order for the Rossi Bros. in CA.) with the 16-92TA Detroit (2 cycle), and it has Never had "triples" on each drive hub. No it's not destroying anything. All its doing is turning the soil over. Please read up on plows and why they're used.

Are torque figures ever given on tractors or just HP? Looks like torque would be more important.

I’ve never been a fan of those screaming Detroit’s. The Allis Chamlers is an awesome looking tractor to bad they couldn’t compete with the other major manufacturers.

The 8550 is a nice tractor. Unfortunately AC was really struggling by the late 70’s. Just under 900 8550s. were built.

No click bait. All 8 tractors total 2,870 hp. The thumbnail shows 5 of the 8 tractors. The title says 2,870 hp show down. It does not say 2,870 hp tractor. What you see in a thumbnail from BTP is exactly the way the video is going to start once you click on it. I do not do click bait ever. The content of each video always as advertised.
