How many acres could he plant a day?? Huge set up!
@bigtractorpowerКүн бұрын
I will have a 10 minute video on it soon. The farmer mentions in the full video 700 acres on a good day in large fields without moving many locations. On the day I filmed he was planting several 50 acre fields and moving on the road so he was covering 300 acres that day.

Too much responsibility for a single machine !!

The NeXat is a tool carrier. It plants, it can spray 230ft and run a 1,000 bu combine to harvest. It is built for controlled traffic farming and maximize work through out the season.

Cab was about 15% of the cost of the tractor
@bigtractorpowerКүн бұрын
In modern tractors it’s a major component of the machine. John Deere was a major contributor to farmers moving open station to cab tractors in the 1970’s.

Hows it move across to the next pass at the end of the row?
@bigtractorpowerКүн бұрын
Very easy. It is fully automated on gps. It skips 45ft and makes the next pass. Once it’s made it to the end of the field it loops back filing in the gaps. I will have a 10 minute video on it this spring.

What was the company that made them hitches or were they built by the farmer
@bigtractorpowerКүн бұрын
I have not heard of a company making the linkage. I think they were farmer made. I will need to do some more research on them.

what about all the ground that isn't planted where the tires are on.the machine. Could amount to a fair amount of acres in a 160 acre field.
@bigtractorpowerКүн бұрын
It controlled traffic farming. You place all your planting, spraying and harvesting tracks in the same place. The NeXat plants, it has a 230 ft boom sprayer and 1,000 bu combine attachment.

Great clip of an old school big tractor, she is working nice and hard, right on the traction limit as you can see at1:25 getting a bit of wheel slip and for a change being driven at a very comfortable speed allowing the the machine to do it's job without bouncing due to excessive speed, a great post, thank you. Andy in Adelaide, South Australia.

It is a nice tractor. I ran it for a few rounds. This field was mostly a good sized hill. The tractor had its work to run up it.

Are there no rocks in that part of the country? That soil looks so nice. I grew up in the upper Midwest, and I'm pretty sure we had more rocks than actual top soil in our fields. 😄

This field is near the Ohio River flats. No stones. I grew up near Lake Ontario in New York. That area like yours is full of stones. My next video posting on Sunday in from New York and will feature a rock picker ahead of planting.

Awesome video Jason you should try to find someone who has a John Deere 7810 auto quad tractor. They were more common in the euros but they were available in the us in 2000 but they are either very rare or everyone who has one isn’t letting them go. I’ve been looking for one for a long time and you only see one here and there. Im a small cow calf farmer in southeast ky have a 6155r and a 6420 but my dream tractor would be a 7810 autoquad with a 741 loader if you ever see one that would be awesome find.

The 800 plow was a better match for the 300hp 4568
@bigtractorpowerКүн бұрын
I sure would like to find a 4568 to film The 800 was built for the 4366 and up. IH built a 9, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 16 bottom. The 9 is well matched for the 4366.

Great Video BTP, I suspect the main and most valid reason farmers use Moco's for alfalfa is it has a steel roller conditioning unit compared with fail on the triples and rubber roller on the NH self propelled unit, most alfalfa growers are very fussy about their cutting, conditioning and harvesting process, thanks for sharing

That's a real tractor, not an air-conditioned office on wheels! I had an early 60's JD 2wd tractor, with narrow front tires. Riding along in this video gave me the sensation of when I drove my old tractor.

I grew up on the 30 and 40 series tractors farming tobacco in North Carolina. So many great memories. My father’s bought the first sound guard cab with air conditioning our local dealer sold. A 4230. I spent many hours in that seat and miss them all.

Them were built ,specifically for....well on here we have to say ,... the "help". Cause give em 2 steel balls and would break one and loose tge other
@jamiesuejefferyКүн бұрын
It has been too long ago now, and I was too young to remember, but I believe my uncle owned a similar JD (maybe a couple of years newer?) with a full cab. If I was giving the opportunity, I would have purchased my grandfather’s 1968 or 1972ish turbo JD without a cab.
