the difference with the first one is quite subtle, maybe a bit like an analogue eq with coloration?

@@axiomcruxexactly! Either that or any other analog piece of gear that adds color. The overdrive is just adding harmonics to the sound.

That's so good I would never think of this. Are there any other methods to strategically place drums around the spectrum? I am trying to place some drums on the rear top left but I am failing hard. Do you have any suggestions on how to get this done?
