Can't stress enough the appreciation I have(and many others) for this channel. Please never stop doing what you're doing. You don't make a show out of anything, it's just raw stuff, the most entertaining, in many peoples opinions. Showing what it's really like, not fabricating anything, no fake stuff, just pure perfection(even the bloopers! We're all human, we're not perfect! And they definitely make for some entertaining content as well!). Stay safe out there!

At a time when many Fire & Police Departments are encrypting dispatch channels to keep the communications from the general public, it's refreshing to see an agency so profoundly focused on keeping their communications and operations transparent and open to the public it serves. Well done SMFR.

That part where you are going over the medical response efforts was awesome. I remember the day back in the 70's and 80's working a volunteer ambulance service with the Life Pack IV, no heart meds, oh yeah, and no AEDS, but seeing this new cardiac equipment in use is unbelievable. I trained on the automated Resusci Anne which didn't allow for errors and eventually taught the AHA for about 6-years, but this new machine tops that in every way. So glad you are protecting the public with state-of-the-art equipment and professionally trained personnel. Unfortunately, our resuscitation efforts were usually unsuccessful due to limitations. Then I spent the next 34 years in as an RN. This man's testimony is what 1st Responders need to hear. SMFR rocks.

Hey quick question do you guys have a form of accountability here in my county(this is on the volunteer side of things) we have a set of tags one you give to the officer in the engine and the other you give to manpower if your entering the fireground
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO5 ай бұрын
SMFR incident commanders use an accountability board to track resources on scene. All personnel receive a daily staffing email that lists who is assigned to each unit for accountability of each person on scene. Some chief officers print that email and carry a hard copy with them for the shift.

what do the first,2nd and 3rd smfr engines do at a fire as they arrive
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO5 ай бұрын
SMFR doesn't pre-assign tasks to engines, their assignments are given by incident command based on the critical factors of the incident. Generally though, the 2nd due engine will anticipate the need to complete water supply and potentially advance a back up hose line. Next arriving engines plan to level 1 stage until an assignment is given.

Single engine company for a commercial fire alarm. Reasoning behind that?
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO5 ай бұрын
SMFR Operations moved to a single engine/aerial response for most commercial fire alarms in 2020 or 2021. That decision was based on the low frequency of fire alarms that present as a working structure fire on arrival, and the desire to keep resources available for other incidents. Water flow alarm activation's, alarms in high occupancy buildings, and target hazards like hospitals receive a 2 engines/aerial response and sometimes a Battalion Chief is also assigned, especially in buildings with known radio communication problems.

Please look into the new Zoll CPR quality measurement. In the UK we have had similar things that actually caused more patient harm as the puck that is stuck to the chest would tear the skin underneath. We have now stopped using this and only use it during training exercises.

I'm curious. I installed the Pulse app, and I keep noticing a unit labeled smfops3. What does that stand for? I know the SM is South Metro, but what about the FOPS3?
@pc64005 ай бұрын
SMFOPS3 (South Metro Fire Ops 3) It's the radio channel assigned to an incident. They have multiple ops channels so you might see Ops 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. For some reason they're odd numbers until they get in the teens which are mostly all training channels.
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO5 ай бұрын
@@pc6400 Exactly. The even numbers are "Fire Ground Channels" 4, 6, 8 and 10. Those are 800MHz simplex radio frequencies used when repeater coverage is inadequate or for communications in small geographic areas of an incident between crews working in a division, group or sector.

quick question, why not cut the locks instead of spending extra minutes cutting doors, cutting the doors 3X opening the doors would give no more O2 to the fire ....Just a QUESTION
@Rockethead2934 ай бұрын
cutting the doors is faster than getting bolt cutters to break open those locks. doors also might be sealed by pressure. it'd also require a firefighter to be directly in front of the door while opening it for a relatively long period of time. overall, you're just better off grabbing a saw and cutting through the door
