Any future people watching, lobsters can technically live forever and just molt any time their shell gets too small, but after 25+ years the energy cost of molting gets higher and higher, making it more dangerous to molt. Eventually a lobster might just be squeezed to death in its own shell or starve to death while molting. So in reality lobsters would only make it to 100-120 years at most but the average is 30-50 for most types of lobster. So in reality, 70 years is an respectable age. Oh, and energy it takes to breed for females is similar, so any lobster over 50, while a shame to kill, is the best time to catch one for the environment as a whole.
