I like that you did a "too thin" one & a "too thick" demo, so people can actually SEE what happens when the paints aren't mixed to the desired consistency!! Thanks hon!:)
@georgemills55453 жыл бұрын
I just posted above. I DID this test, had the consistency right and the pour paint ended up so thin all the colors muddied. I'm wondering if its the base paint consistency, which is supposed to be a bit thinner than the colors?

I know the one with too little paint did not work out the way you would have liked - But, I loved the first try because it looked like the ocean smashing against a cliff - In my work, I would use it for background and carefully paint other elements into it to create a painting - Sometimes the mistakes can end up being amazing

I hate it when I don't mix up enough paint. I'm not sure why you got two thumbs down. To me if you get a thumbs down you should say what you didn't like about it as opposed to just being negative without anything constructive occurring. It's very subjective in that it's your artwork and your opinions so what is there to be negative about. if you're not interested in it, don't watch. Personally, I love your videos. You cover a lot of common questions people have and make everything look so simple.

Thank you so much! Last night, I made 2 new pictures. The whole goal was simply to try a couple of your suggestions as I’m over watering my paint mix and the design fades on the sides. I used you paint mixing ratios as well as your suggested amount of product total per canvas size. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the results! I also tried your trick of setting to canvas on top of another canvas that is still wrapped in plastic! The jury is still out if that recommendation! Thank you so much for all that you share. You are my number one go to girl for pour/flow painting instruction!!!

For the first time last night, my mix is getting closer to the correct path, thanks to your vid. I didn't add any water to the color mix before and couldn't make out why my paint was not flowy like others. The problem now is that... I think it's closer to the too thin. Going to try and fix it tonight.

Oh thank you! I just did my second poor last night and I realized I'm not consistent with how I mix the paint some are too thin some are too thick and it really shows when I pour those little teeny squiggly lines and other places there's really big lines the most of it's just really thin, the colors are gone. I did the small dish drainer.

Yaaaayyyyyy finally a great video that was extremely useful. I FINALLY had my very 1st successful ring pour after watching this. I think I was just a little too thin with past attempts because they always started out looking perfect but then when it came time to tilt it I would lose all my lines and end up looking like just another pour. You videos were the very 1st ones I saw that got me immediately interested in painting and I finally found this video today so thank you so much for taking the time to explain & make the perfect tutorial !!!

I wish I would have seen this video yesterday. I was inspired by all of your beautiful art and I had watched one of your videos about mixing paint so I thought I was well prepared. Unfortunately, I added too much water... way too much water. Consequently the colors melted together in the cup and made this beautiful shade of Mudd paint. And I laughed. I will try again. But this time I will add less water. Thank you for sharing your art and your talent.

JUDY Gowens Hi, Judy! It was literally in the desert where I did it. There was a nomadic get together for women outside of Bouse that I attended. It was called the WRTR or Women’s Rubber Tramp Rendezvous. They had sessions on all things having to do with being female full time RVers or van dwellers. But they also had social sessions as well. Such was the art seminar that I went to and tried my hand at paint pouring. I loved it! I also brought the evidence of it home on my hiking boots. LOL!

I do not know much about the mixes, ut I really wanted to try making one of these paintings. I saw in our local big box craft store a pre-mixed acrylic pouring paint set of colors called Galaxy Surge. Even with these mixed paints I did not know if it had the silicone drops in them and their website was not forthcoming. I went ahead and tried doing a flip cup pour, like the ones you did on the 1st 2 canvases. I used about 1/3 of each bottle color in my cup (the bottles are 6 oz), using 4 colors, white, navy, magenta and fuschia on an 8 x 10 canvas. It came out OK, nothing spectacular. I noticed that not only was a lot of oil was coming to the surface, but the paint was cracking as if I had covered it with some kind of crackle varnish to make it look vintage. I do not think I've seen that happen before in any of the dozens of videos I have watched on YT. Do you have any ideas of why that happened? I want to try more, but I am afraid it will happen again. People say they varnish their canvases, but with the mount of oil on this one, no varnish would ever stick to it. Hope you have an answer! Love your work by the way!

I saw someone say that if you take the dimensions of the canvas (8x10) and multiply them and then divide by 28 and that gives you the amount of ounces of paint you need. So for an 8x10 canvas I use a 3 ounce cup filled to the brim and a base coat and it works pretty well. But I’ve also just found that using a base coat makes things monumentally easier in terms of stretching.

Your videos are very helpful indeed. I have a question for you if you don't mind. After my paintings dry, at least some of them, I will have what looks like little pimples. It almost looks like it could be dried air bubbles but I use a heat gun and/or torch so I don't think that it is air bubbles. I also get some crazing on some of my paintings but I figured out that is probably because I had an overhead fan going on medium for my first paintings thinking it would help with drying and I think it caused a draft. But if you could tell me what you think the pimple type things could be from I would be really grateful. Thank you for all your videos and help! Keep on painting!!!

Do you always pour over a dry canvas? I usually put a light base coat down in white, it makes the paint spread or flow waaaay smoother to the edges.

I'm having trouble figuring out what I'm doing wrong. Whenever I add any amount of water to my pours, they end up super muddy and they look like garbage when they dry. I just use paint, floetrol, and a drop or two of silicone. It's thicker than your consistency but definitely thinner than the "thick" pour you did. I see everyone saying to add water though and I can't figure out why it's not working for me. Without water I've made some pretty cool stuff but with it I've failed every time. Also pretty much anything I do with black ends up drying way darker than I expect it to and it kinda bums me out.

I was afraid about it not drying correctly so I blew some of the paint off and ruined the piece. I ended up scraping off the paint to save the board but it was sad to see all the paint wasted.
