Discovered your channel by chance. First video I saw was riding out typhoon Debbie so it was obviously different than the rest to say the least. I’ve been really enjoying your channel! I was lucky enough to visit Australia in June of 2000 and your channel is a great way to “visit” again from my couch in Nashville Tennessee. I do a bit of kayak fishing, but now I feel like I need to up my game haha. Thanks for the awesome videos. Very inspiring and entertaining. 👍🏻

Hey Andy, try making your fillet cut near the head first and leave the filled attached at the tail. Once you've cut your ribs and belly area free, flop the fillet back past the tail, then slice the fillet off the skin. Let the tail hold the skin for you. Thays how we do our freshwater fish. Dukkah Def Middle eastern although it travelled to Europe and throughout Asia eventually. Try Hazelnuts instead of walnuts (the euroversion) and dry roast them in the skillet with the coriander seeds, turn heat off and coat them with Cumin. After that they can travel and are instand accompaniments sprinkled on salads, add oil and dip bread or if you really want them on fish then blend a light batter to attach, or super mince the fish, combo with this and egg and make cakes. Never had any luck with soldier crabs, they must be at the very bottom of the food chain for mine everywhere Ive tried, too damn picky, I would skip the lead or necessary add it behind 1.5m of flourocarbon and a very small dark barrell swivel, maybe a smaller hook like a 2. You're a genius at lure fishing and teach me every episode, your casts are superhuman and Harroesque but after coarse fishing throughout the world I reckon I could show you a few small tricks on your baitfishing (PLEASE TAKE ME FISHING WITH YOU< ANYWHERE ANYTIME!!) Love you Andy :)

@@Andysfishing I got the info about using the black crabs from a old bloke in far east gippsland. Figure that info is pretty accurate seeing as he'd been fishing out that way for 50+ years. Even in water dirtier than you were just fishing, was getting a bit in 30-60 seconds using the black crabs, the bream were smashing them!

I've tried soldier crabs for bait loads of times, they can work but compared to worms or yabbies they are absolute rubbish. Catch more bream on live worms, more whiting on live yabbies. "Edit" - You'll want a longer leader for whiting. The sinker and swivel being too close can put them off. About 15-30cm between hook and swivel, sinker above that. It lets the bait float around more naturally while staying where you want it(being in shallow water, this matters). Best whiting setup in my opinion. I know there are a couple of other rigs that work well for whiting too. My favourite fish.

Great Video Andy. Believe it or not, your vids where you soak bait like you did in this one, or have a bait out for sharks are my favorite. So our version of Mangrove Jacks here in Texas we call Mangrove Snapper. They are VERY similar species. In Galveston where I fish they started showing up 20 years or so ago and are a favorite target of ours now when we are doing inshore fishing for redfish, trout, and flounder. I've heard people theorize they started coming in on the rig legs of the offshore jackup drilling rigs....and just stayed here. I know in Florida and that side of the gulf they are very prevalent in the shallows...but to us here on the West side of the GOM, they are "relatively" new as an inshore species. Take care!!! I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION: is there a concern there for a crocodile to actually try to get in the boat with you while you are camping like that?? Crocs are definitely NOT on our watch list...our alligators tend to leave us alone.
@Andysfishing2 жыл бұрын
Jacks and snapper do like to hide in any cracks or structure, so your idea could be right. Also, yes, I worry about crocs almost every night. That's why i scan the water before bed.
