I loved this area, did a similar hike a couple of years ago. It was still at the tail end of COVID, so Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoy had way less visitors (i.e. just me). Nong Khiaw has its own morning market and Buddhist alms giving tradition like Luang Prabang, but it is way less hectic and felt more local (there was only one group of a handful of monks walking through the village), so definitely worth staying there just for those.

Hi Zach, thank you so much for your really great videos. I became aware of you through your Laos video and have also watched other videos about China, Vietnam, Singapore and Japan. I especially like the mix of official information and private experiences that you share in your videos. The high-contrast, clear and colorful style of your videos really draws me into the videos and I get a vacation feeling. The length of the videos is on point - not too short and not too loooooong. I will definitely be watching more of your videos and please keep up with the good work.
