2 Days Ham Radio Camping in Natural Shelter - I did it AGAIN!

I went into the woods to a windy overnighter with my radio, made a natural shelter using natural materials.
I set up a Superantenna MP1 antenna and Yaesu FT-891 radio, but...
...I did it again!
I brought the wrong battery, OMG.
After two QSOs, bam! Every time I pressed PTT, the radio turned off...
So I just enjoyed the food and the nature.
Sorry guys!

You have captured what I aim to do... merging my hobbies. This is a great looking setup. You are clearly a skilled bush crafter. The saying is true: the more you know, the less you have to carry. Thanks for taking us along on your journey. 73. AA4K

I like how clean cut the ends of the branches are. That must have been a really sharp saw blade on that power saw.

Well done, Dom. It reminds me of similar trips I used to make into the mountains some 40 years ago, when I was a young man like you. I used a HW-7 with about 3 watts on CW. 73.

2 of my favourite hobbies. Bushcraft and currently studying for my Basic ham radio license in Canada. Awesome and inspirational. I want to eventually set up a back pack rig for camping/ bushcraft in the future as well. Thank you.

Dom it was Impressive! I enjoy this camping, pity we here in the north have terrible weather conditions, snow, rain, fog and cold around the zero. We have to wait till spring here lol :D Happy New Year and I hope to meet you on the air! ;) 73, Paul.

Lots of rocks in my area. In another environment, there are so many options. You can cook, on the ground, underground, it is only important to have a fire. Hope to se ya down the log! 73

Seriously a teeny tiny little vertical when you have all those trees around you and spent all that effort on the shelter? Wire is cheap man, you could've easily gone full dipole for the 80 meter band there.

Why all that hassle doing all that. You are less than 200 yards from a home depot. Just go get a tarp.
