This contracted shoot I'm solo and specifically targeting introduced foxes, along with a couple of bonus feral pigs and a feral cat. Thermal gear running off the ATV is a great combination and I stack up a decent number of animals considering local pressure from other hunters and shooters.
It was great to be out in this beautiful area riding around on my Suzuki King Quad AXI 500 ATV. Weather conditions varied greatly with hot stinging sun at elevation, to mountain mist and drizzle, nothing like a mixed bag to spice things up.
This shooting is purely pest control of invasive species in Australia. These uncontrolled animals are an environmental and agricultural menace, often carrying bacterial and diseases like brucellosis. Pigs are left where they lay as carrion, nothing generally lasts more than a week in the Aussie bush before it's just a few scattered remains. Foxes and feral cats, if you don't understand the risks they pose in Australia, please do yourself a favour and google it. These species are an absolute menace and must be controlled. Don't like that, don't watch it, this is AUSTRALIA !!!
I am a vertebrate pest control - contract shooter in NSW. For those wondering about the suppressor, I hold the necessary permit in NSW to do so. If seeking information regarding that, please check the FAR webpage for details. All shooting is performed on privately owned farms, with exclusive permission granted for paid services.

Rifles used - I always get asked that !!!
The blue rifle, AKA #smurfgun is an Australian GCPD Arms Elite Series II chambered in 6.5PRC, 24" Carbon Six barrel all sitting in the GCPD Arms fully adjustable chassis. Suppressor again is a Shawmac Industries (although larger), and I'm shooting Hornady 147gr ELD-M projectiles. Optic is a Japanese made Zerotech Trace Advanced 4-24x50mm FFP fitted with a Pulsar Krypton 2 XG50 thermal clip on.
My 6mm BR is a custom Tikka T3, 18" Carbon Six CF wrapped barrel and Hi-Tec Industries CF stock. The suppressor is made by Shawmac Industries, which works amazingly well on this cartridge shooting Hornady 87gr Vmax Projectiles (all ammo is reloaded, no please don't ask me for load data as I don't share this information). Thermal scope is a Pulsar Thermion 2 LRF XG50.
For scanner duties, I'm running Pulsar Merger LRF XL50 thermal binoculars in a chest rig, and an InfiRay Finder FH35R V2 on the remote handle and ATV screen setup.
If you are interested in a thermal or night vision device in Australia, have a chat with Ben from Hunt the Night. He generally has the best prices anyway in Oz.
