I ordered your current favorite deck after watching your walk-through. I feel it will be a favorite of mine--when it arrives.

I hope you enjoy it. I think it can be an adjustment for RWS readers. I tend to read mostly by the labels and numbers adding my own layers of interpretation with the extra little illustrted marginalia.

This was really fun to watch! I'll try that too! As for your question, if that's layering, I think everybody understands something different by that word. Personally, I would call it "decks having a conversation or discussion", while we as a reader are listening to their points, like a king listening to a discussion of his 2 advisers, and then it is for us to decide how we process the information and make up our own mind, and decisions, considering also the point of views of the 2 advisers. When I am "layering" cards, I do it usually like this: I pull a card that gives me a "realm" (for example area of life, or a chakra, or an emotional state etc.), and a second card for "what's going on" in the sense, that I do think the "realms"are not static, but always moving, flowing, changing, swirling..... and the second card is giving details on what is moving this, or what is the force at work that is brewing together there or impacting it or impa ting my situation etc (this might sound a bit nebulous, but with a clear question in mind, those aspects can be adapted and worded more specific and clear obviously). Another thing I do, that I consider layering, is, I pull a row (2- 7 cards) from Marseille minors, and read the story in as many ways possible (from left, right, mirroring etc.), then I pull 1 major for each minor and lay it in a second row, and those give me something like characterisation, role, motivation, the potential, atmosphere, image of self or inherent potential lessons of the attached card in the upper row. Then I retell the story in the new light, which can be very surprising and unlocking at times.
