This video outlines 2 people who went missing in the central core region of Edmonton's river valley within weeks of each other in 2011. Both people were later found deceased in the North Saskatchewan River in the same area within a week of each other. On May 5, Richard Curnow went missing while running in Edmonton's central river valley area. He was a member of the Canadian armed forces and he was running with a group of fellow soldiers in training for an upcoming extreme death race in Grande Cache, Alberta. Richard went missing during the the early portion of the run, and an intensive search turned up no clues. A few weeks earlier, an 80 year old woman named Jacqueline Gagnon went missing after last being seen on the pedestrian bridge near Louise McKinney park.
On May 15, the deceased body of Jacqueline Gagnon was found in the North Saskatchewan River near the town of Redwater. No details regarding the cause of her death were released.
On May 22, 17 days after he had gone missing, the deceased body of Richard Curnow was found in the North Saskatchewan River near the town of Redwater. His death was declared non-criminal and no further details were released.
The case of Richard Curnow got considerably more press than the case of Jacqueline Gagnon.
There has been no substantial information released yet that may offer clues to help explain these cases.
I have always found if interesting that these two people disappeared around the same time and were found around the same time in the same approximate area of the river.
