A quick tip for boxed scalloped potatoes: add potatoes, boiling water and butter to casserole dish. Pop in microwave for 5-10 mins, remove and stir in cheese sauce mix. Pop into oven and you’ll save about half the cooking time.

Sometimes it's possible to find low sodium, low sugar, or low fat varieties of some processed foods. Unfortunately, they can sometimes cost more

The only item reasonably easy to find is low sodium and no salt added chicken broth, which usually does not cost anymore. Low sodium vegetables or no salt vegetables and beans are also usually available at no higher cost. Walmart carries them both.

Thankfully I keep a large pantry so I have most of these items on hand. Our grocery store sells a whole ham for .79 cents a lb and a spiral ham for .89 cents a lb. this time of the year. It makes several meals and soups later in the month. I applaud you if you don't have the food around the house.

Instead of putting the butter or margarine pats on top of cake mix, soften butter in bowl, add cake mix and work it in to a crumble, then put on top of fruit in baking dish. It's easier, and the margarine or butter is evenly incorporated. Also, get some kitchen scissors to open that brown sugar bag.

That was so cute to have the pink peeps on the plates! Fun! I’ve never made beans using those ingredients. I always get the kind mixed up already, but I’m going to give that a try. I cook pretty much the way my mother cooked. Everything looked delicious! Your family is very lucky to have such a smart and creative cook. I’m sure I’m a lot older than you are, and I don’t know a lot of these tricks. So I’m watching intently and even taking notes. I would be very happy with the ham meal. We are only 2, if the family isn't coming, and that would serve us well with leftovers and very delicious too. The second meal is the one I would absolutely love...cause I LOVE cornbread dressing/stuffing and chicken or turkey. My all time favorite. You have a gift to make good food out of less items. That is a wonderful talent to have...especially in this day and age with the prices sky high. And side note...I love the box stuffing too especially the cornbread one! High five Charles..

Last night, dinner was carrot, dried cranberries , chopped walnuts, may.o Dash of salt . Dash of. Splenda or sugar. I and lo fat sour cream dressing with. Cinn⁰amon , nutmeg, cloves and allspice seasonings. So good, its all i wanted😊😊

If you do lime chicken that is very good as well that what most Mexican restaurants do I always forget which one taste better but I do like Lime juice on like canned chicken. It just makes it taste better. I love your idea of cheap Easter dinner. Happy Easter.

Everything looks delicious! If you want to do something a little fancier with the asparagus, I sometimes roast it with lemon juice and butter or olive oil like you did, but add diced shallot, sliced almonds, and some shredded Parmesan cheese

This looks delicious! Great tip with the lemonade. I’ve never seen beans made that way. I think I might keep the carrots savoury, since both the ham and the beans are sweet. I would always brown the chicken skin side down in a pan to render the fat, before preparing for the oven with citrus slices. (My Mom used to buy that kind of Imperial Margarine to make her handmade croissants - which she filled with a fluffy concoction of beaten egg whites, sugar, ground nuts, and a splash of rum (optional 😊). Scrumptious!)

I would reduce the cost by eliminating the beans, the green beans and the brown subar. The carrots would taste fantastic with just the butter or margarine. I would probably add a couple baked potatoes which would be better than the beans and I would eliminate the koolaid.

The only thing I would have changed would be to add a can of evaporated milk to the list. I'd use part of it to make the potatoes, the rest would be for my coffee! I have to have my coffee, so I always have some instant coffee in reserve! lol
