I love when you explain something that makes complete sense and then ask if it made sense, answer that it didn’t make sense, and then explain it again. Seriously, I love it. So funny. But also, showing the different ways to understand something is the mark of a great teacher.

So good! One tip I use when I do contract the selection is to Hide the selection. The grey tinkling selection line disappears so I have a clear view of what I'm doing while working on the edges.

My favorite way of dealing with fringes is to create an hue/saturation adjustment layer. Set it to some dark brown color, or whatever fits best. Put a mask on it and then just paint over the fringed. Effectively what you are doing is that, instead of removing the fringe, you change the color of the fridge to something that makes it look like its a natural part of the image.
@ernoe3033 жыл бұрын
A similar way is 'inner glow' set to multiply. But I will sure try your way as well.

Thank you! For a quick and dirty: select everything you don't want around the object, go to the top bar and click select > refine edge... then, put like 2 in the radius box and drag shift edge to 100% (play with these to get what you want). Then, click "ok" and delete your selection. You can also adjust feather in "refine edge" in order to smooth the edges a bit.

Great tutorial. It is something that everyone has encountered so I find it very very useful. I am curious how didn't you mention the "Feather" option in properties which almost automatically will remove the fringe all around. Feather has has the ability to be edited as well with contrast and gives sharp or soft results depending on what numbers you entered.

Great tutorial, bro! I'm just curious to know why you did not mention the defringe/remove black matte/remove white matte technique? It is something which is just 3 clicks and does a reasonably good job and will be a lot easier for beginners to follow. It does not work well with fringes of all colors but still does a very good job at removing black and white fringes which is mostly the case. Would like to know your views on it. Thanks!
