Hi there, thanks for the video. Which ball would you recommend for this drill - single-yellow or double-yellow?

I might even suggest starting with a red dot. Believe it or not, that's what I used in the video. I often use a red dot in my videos, but I am constantly stopping and moving the camera or adjusting something, and the ball gets cold quickly. If on your courts and with your hitting, the red dot is too bouncy, move onto the single yellow and so on. Start with the bounciest one and move on to the less bouncy until you find the right ball for you, the drill and the court conditions. Let me know if you have any other questions.

You are most welcome. In case I wasn't clear in my previous reply, don't be afraid to use different colour dots for different drills - Use the ball that makes squash the most fun. and/or makes it easier to improve.

I used to play squash till the university. I competed at various competitions and won some in the UK and then moved to county cricket. Retired as a first-class cricketer and now I am playing pickleball. The main issue with Squash nowadays is that it is really expensive to begin with. I even enjoy watching football, tennis, and badminton but whenever by mistake it's some squash my family opts to sleep in front of the TV. Squash is boring for even a sports junkie who enjoys playing and watching some sports.

and expensive in the sense that one needs proper coaching, diet, and supplements apart from equipment and training facilities.

I agree that squash in the UK is expensive, certainly much more so than when I lived and played there, but the UK is not representative of the world and is no longer the force it once was in world squash. In some parts of the world, squash is booming and available to all levels of society - there's still enclaves where the "country club" mentality prevail, but not as many as there used to be. Your second point is echoed by many, myself included, but some sports are just not attractive to watch on TV unless you play the sport. It's not because the broadcasters do a bad job, it's just that the speed and skill of the players does not come across on a 2D representation.

@@BetterSquash yeah agree but i think they need to move squash out of those dark rooms into someplace with natural light like tennis. Lighting is a big issue in squash broadcasts

Totally agree, and there are moves to make outdoor squash much more popular and available - only time will tell.

I'm from South Africa here and I totally disagree with you. I love watching Squash and many people would love watching if they actually played for themselves. Secondly, squash is probably one of the most affordable sports around. It's mostly run as non-profit clubs and membership is really cheap.
