Every time we head to the track our 2020 Shelby GT500 CX11R just keeps getting quicker! Jason from 1320 Junkie Performance joined us over at Bradenton Motorsports park for more testing on the GT500 platform an it really paid off! With the addition of some transmission tuning we both managed new bests and Jason's car was deadly on the 60'! Check out the video to hear how it all went down

This is why I'm glad I'm waiting to mod mine. Let the experts do the necessary vetting so when I'm ready, it will be a solid setup. Great work Ken and the entire PBD team!

R&D is key. The more people that try alpha and beta tunes and ideas will make research easier. What happened with the pandemic vaccine can be applied to motorsports activities.

GAWD DAMN Jason's car launches HARD!! A someone who ran mod-motored Cobras in the late 90's, I'm so jealous how these cars launch. We're were lucky to get low 2 second 60' even on drag radials!!

I remember jay leno during his review of the gt500 saying they really were as good as they were gonna be from the factory. Now you have gt500s running 1 1/2 to 2 seconds faster in the 1/4. Demon guys dream of going a second faster. Even with every weight reduction built motors and turbo400s they are only running high 8s. The gt500 is coming up on those times in a year and can still take a turn.

Last time I checked 8s is indeed faster than 9s.. internally stock motor and trans have gone 8s

@@TheBb6prelude a factory demon just now went it’s claimed 9.6 this year. And most demons and hellcats I know are completely built with carbon fiber panels. Running 8s on in 70k builds. Yes it’s faster but the gt500 being a track car is zooming up on it and that’s impressive. The demons have been kind of limited to the 8s by weight. Thats why you see a lot of dodge guys giving up and getting coyote mustangs. David van voris use to race his hellcat. He got his 2018 mustang and within a year was running low 8s last time he ran he was running 7.6 with less money into the cost of the car and the build than it costs for a demon. Once this gt500 is figure md out it’s going to be hitting built demon times. It’s running this with stock bottom end and trans.

@@carculturenation2166 cant say i completely agree. We have a redeye as a shop car, full boltons and e85 tune ran 8.9 this yr,no weight reduction etc

@@tedbear6012 good job. Idk if you’ve seen everything demonology has been through making his faster. Or the one on donut media with all the carbon panels. Them demons have a lot into them for 8s. Demonology is building a mustang in the background because with everything he has done. Build motor turbo 400 and every bolt on and running 8.8. And knows he is getting to the limits. Coyote cars are doing that with 20-30k of bolt ons. I haven’t seen many hellcats/redeyes/ demons running them times in person or on KZbin. And it’s daring knowing the limitations of those engines. Dodge really needs a redesign. I have to hellcat motors torn down. One the owner babied and the first time it blew was at around 70k and they did upgrades bearings. And this time the damn thing twisted and shattered a rod on start up and put a hole in the block with now 150k on the engine. The donor block was blown at around 70k as well around 155k it’s sitting with the worst spun bearings I’ve ever seen. Hoping to get one out of the 2 . They are awesome but they can’t handle much stock. This seems to be what I see constantly. I’ve yet to see one with 100k miles on them. They are awesome out of the box performance but I feel they just don’t seem to hold up to well. I e seen some guys go through3- 6 motors Even with a couple being built. To me that’s crazy. As much as I love them I’m the first to admit they are limited especially being in these heavy cars. I give a lot more respect to what’s happening with the Mustangs especially these gt500s because they are easier to make fast without building them. And as heavy as a gt500 is even stock they run within a second of Huracan evo and Ferrari f8 around a track. .I Like what ken is doing. to make it faster than most fully built demon/redeye. But yet can destroy supercars on a road course. There is more than drag racing in the gt500 and his package. You have to remember redeyes are straight line cars. Gt500 was meant to be more of a powerful road course car. So for it to be this close to running with Demons with a year of r&d and trans tuning just getting started. The Red eye Demon and super stock are basically just new combinations of dodge parts bin parts. So same cars basically and everything that has been done with them has been done and we know what they can and can’t do. That’s why you don’t see people swapping hellcats into stuff like you do coyotes and LS. Same reason you don’t have the much aftermarket for them. I know some people getting the new whipple for theirs. But we will see how it goes. I’m hoping they will hold up so we can start to see the limits pushed further her on them. Until then it’s all been done and seen even turbo hellcats. So for now it’s a sit back and watch these GT500s get faster.

@@carculturenation2166 thats alot to read bro but i agree the charger/challenger platform is maxed out in the 8s. But id rather spend 10k at the place i work to run 9.0 instead of spend 80k to run 8.7. . This is an old 2006 Mercedes platform. Gotta ditch this charger chassis. Its takes little money to go low 9s. Takes a shit ton to go high 8s. If you want a bolt on car the hellcat is perfect . U wanna go super fast go w something else. And people dont swap hc drivetrains is because of price still. I can get 900whp out of a hc motor easy. But when just a hellcat engine is 10k for a stolen one or something lol ,noone wants to spend 30k on a swap . Once hc price goes down on the drivetrains ill swap one for sure

You can totally see they are leaving way harder now . They always left with a soft delay and it seems to be way faster and harder . You can see the weight transfer happen immediately

KEN, you need clutches in that DCT. I think you have an 8.7 GT500.

Hey ken, the Zo6 is on it's way, and WE NEED TO BE READY!! It would be nice to have a good pump gas engine and transmission package tune for the gt500. There will be random stoplight encounters with those light weight, mid engined, wide tired, aerodynamic, quick shifting, high powered, exotic looking (and sounding) vettes. A stock c8 murders even the best 2020 gt500 light to light. A stoplight package would be great. Minimal mods with maximum performance would be a great option for the majority of gt500 owners.

Sometimes it doesn't make sense to force something. There is no way to get a front engine car to hang with a mid engine car on normal roads from a stop for the most part. You just can't overcome physics. Even though that is fun, more people prefer a rolling start on the street. It's probably a bit safer and makes for a better race

@@bigdaddytrucker8312 you're smoking something if you think they aren't....the c8s are faster to 60 and the same to 100 as the gt500s. The 500s dont start passing until above 110 and that's usually not a light to light race.

Cool to hear you are gonna hook up with Brooks and run his bone stock McLaren 765LT. When I your times I immediately thought of the match up. Sound like you will pull on him from the 330’ to the 1000’ by a couple cars and then he will start to pull on the ‘Stang. 1/2 mile I think the McLaren will start walking the ‘Stang. Are you guys gonna try to roll race as well as drag at the track? That would be VERY interesting. I suspect both cars will have issues with spinning the tire on the highway.

Yea with a tune and downpipe on the 765lt will be in the mid 8 second range

@@David-er1cy yeah if you put the extra 270k into the gt500 that you save over the 765lt plus the tune money. The gt500 could run low 8s and 7s depending on far you want to go and still have probably have over 170k left.

@@David-er1cy no doubt the765lt is fast and no doubt you can make more power. But that engine is going to have its limit way sooner than the gt500. And it costs a fortune to make them faster. You figure gt500 is still on stock bottom end and trans about to crack 8s . We don’t know the limits of the 765lt yet.they could have more in them or they could be close to maxed. Being a limited production car we will see it pushed but probably won’t see it pushed to far. Which sucks because it would be awesome to see a 765lt get a built engine bigger turbos and sent to the moon. But we will probably never see that because another thing about exotics is people spend so much on them they are afraid to break them and out miles on them. And being a Mclaren it will probably end up in the shop more than it’s in the owners garage if they actually drive them. They are probably one of the most unreliable exotics you can buy. But I stil love them. Gt500 is based of the coyote and we know what that thing is capable of.

Do those DCTs feel as lazy on the shift as they sound? Or do they hit hard on the shifts and just sound lazy?

Lazy on shift? They shift faster than any normal auto. It’s a fraction of a second so it’s one continuous acceleration. . But It just sounds different coming out of a loud v8. WhT you might be hearing is it at the end just hitting the higher gear at the end and rpm drop maybe. Or a little Now they are lazy off the line that’s why trans tuning was needed. Ford set them for road course to be seamless. But off the line they didn’t want people chewing up clutches I’m assuming so they made the launch a lot slower. Which makes it easier for the average enthusiast to deal with 760hp

Probably they getting started but aren’t doing is for customers yet remember it’s a new platform . They have to test in there cars first .

Minor complaint. Can you invest in a camera that can focus on the board. If they aren't posting on the board no big deal. I want to see how fast the car is moving at the end. Thanks Ken.

It’s a manual transmission that’s computer shifted. They have to figure a way without something as simple as a torque converter on the auto transmission
