I have been really gettin into those large copperlocks…….. and I’ll be the first to tell you when buying case knives it’s always a gamble……. I’ve tried all your methods but I feel as if I made it worse and I think you helped me a lot……. First off I think I was doing a few thinks wrong and the first thing is I was using the wrong hammer and the other thing is I did not have it on the right surface…… also great trick sanding the pivot because every time i hit the bolster method it pops my pivot out and I get so pissed…… but that’s a game changer sanding the pivot…….. that was a super informative video and i appreciate that very much……. But like I said I’ve been buying case knives a long time and it’s a 50/50 shot on getting a good one……. There quality control is terrible……… your a very knowledgeable guy thanks again be well out there😊

I am not sure that the methods that I used are the best ones but they did work. I tried to gather information about tightening the pivots but found a lot of conflicting opinions so I just applied a little reasoning and came up with my way of doing it. When I get another knife that needs to be tightened it will be videoed and put on KZbin. You are right on about Case knives being a 50/50 chance of getting a good one. It is best to buy them in a store where they can be inspected first. The problem is stores don't always have the patterns that I am looking for especially when you factor the type of steel. After I get some more sandpaper I will put up a video of how to sand and polish the bolsters.

Great job saving those blades!! Makes it all worth the while!! Thanks for sharing

They worked out great! The blades have not been sharpened away. In fact the mini looks to still have the factory grind! It actually feels better and is more fun to carry these knives then a new ones. But then again I tend to make or modify (or improve at least most of the time.......) most things that I carry.

You were very fortunate that you were able to salvage those knives, great job! You can get lost in the depths of that blue! Thanks for sharing.
@LastChanceKnives Жыл бұрын
The blue on these is awesome. Since bone is a natural material it does not take die the same. Many times even the 2 covers on each side of a knife can be very different. I was lucky on these. Not only did each side of the knife match but both knives matched almost perfectly!

Another great video. I want that oven! Great work on those copperlocks. I love the red shields on Case!

I'll sell you the oven, it's expensive though! In addition I also have a toll bridge into NYC for sale!

Really interesting video talking about your repair process but using the matching mini and full sized knives. Thanks!
@LastChanceKnives Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Watch the latest repair video where I fixed a knife for JerseyKnifeGuy. It has a new method that is much safer. SS blades are usually able to be fixed, but be careful with carbon. They may break before they bend! I also just subbed to your channel. I didn't know about it before, great stuff!

Great repair on those. I prefer the larger size as well. Thanks for sharing!

They are great knives. I would love to find the large in carbon. Not that Trusharp is bad. It's just that carbon has character and stainless does not!
@RJsKnives Жыл бұрын
@@LastChanceKnives That’s exactly how I feel about Case knives. I prefer the Carbon if I can get it, but Tru Sharp does take a nice edge.

Hahahah you are right.! He got me hooked on them and it's why I got these!

Good one on the oven :) was thinking what the heck... Good tips, but I'd be wary of trying them on a Case,😢 because I only have a few,and they're not cheap. That's a nice pair to have

Thanks! I am learning as I go. I learn by trial and error, with a heavy emphasis on error! I came up with a few improved ideas for fixing these knives. I'll try and get a video up in a week or so.

I just picked up a matching amber bone full sized copperlock to go with my mini copperlock and full sized vault edition amber bone copperhead! I wish my copperlocks were CV or CS like my copper head but the SS versions are allright I suppose.
@LastChanceKnives Жыл бұрын
That amber bone should make for a nice copperlock! Mine also are Truesharp. I would much rather have carbon but for now this is what was available. Truesharp is not bad but it just doesn't have any character like carbon does.

I’ve said the same thing that’s why I’m trying to pick them up they are going away I put a video out on them not that in-depth thanks again great video

I saw that video. In fact it was a couple of your videos that got me interested in Copperlocks. I had never considered the Copperlocks before. None of the online stores had the large in stock, however mini's are all over the place. So eBay was it, but many of the prices were a bit to high so I settled on used knives that needed work and I am glad I did!

Case is still making a ton of the large copperlocks. Thankfully!

Some knives are 3 finger, some are 4.
@LastChanceKnives Жыл бұрын
yep, I just don't care for the 3 finger knives for actually doing work with. On the other hand the small knives are lighter and disappear in the pocket. Everyone has to decide what is best for them based on what they do and how much they use a knife. More use swings the balance towards the larger knife, less use the smaller.
