I willl stick with M43 anyways since i chose it for the size and price advantage and not for the brand itself. Plus i don't think as an amateur i need fullframe. My 16MP M43 does well enough for the size of prints that i make.

that's great to hear! what kind of prints do you make and how big do you make them? my camera work is mostly in video but i'm thinking of printing stuff in the near future! any advice you wanna give?
@123florus6 жыл бұрын
I make a photobook every year but none of the prints in there are very big. Then i have a wall with my favourite pictures printed and the biggest are around A3 size. Don't know where you are from and if you have that service there but in Germany we have "saal digital" and they make excellent prints in my opinion. You can create your own picture books and for larger prints they have a large choice for different "premium" papers. The kind of paper you use actually matters a lot i think.

Great news, I shoot with both formats at this time. I love my M43 for street photography and non-critical shots. The only negative I see with the M43 is not the sharpness which is fine up to 11x14 prints; it’s the limited dynamic range. I shoot a lot of landscapes and when trying to bring up the shadow area with M43 you will see noise. But a great size for portability. When it comes to landscapes and difficult lighting conditions you can’t beat a FF, it’s just a cleaner look. I am disappointed with the mirror-less offerings from Nikon and Canon so I really welcome Panasonic jumping in.

Does any Panasonic MFT camera or this FF camera can pause during video shoot?
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
what do you mean by pause?
@thestevewood6 жыл бұрын
I think he means pause the current clip, and then resume the current recording a bit later. So it makes post editing a bit easier, because it will automatically merge 2 clips into one. But since most people that buy these cameras post edit, it's kind of a pointless feature in such an expensive camera. I can see how it would be useful on a phone where you aren't going to post edit and want to upload online faster.

I hope they also consider making photography centric cameras as well as great video cameras; say a FF equivalent of the G9.

Well, I'm planning on adding a second camera. I run a GH4, but don't want to replace it. It's more important for my work to add a second camera. Since I run Canon FD lenses, my lenses are full- frame already. A full-frame Panasonic as an A cam, the run a GH4 as a B-cam would be a good combo. I film tight to the camera, so the telephoto nature of M43 is something I always bump into. I also want to do some camping trip and astro-lunar photography would be nice to add to my footage. M43 just ain't it. For some of us it isn't a matter of switching but a matter of adding.

@@KimCruz1 I will say this though. This is the most intriguing ff offering out there for me if this is true. It would almost be a gh5 in a ff body with better lowlight. I would most likely get the one with lower mp for increased iso performance and similar price to the a7iii (would be better than a7iii, atleast for video). That is the only gripe I have with my G7. (I didn't expect IBIS to be in the G7 for the price, so not including that).
@KimCruz16 жыл бұрын
yeah that's true although again i wanna caution everyone just because it's a first gen product... the thing with ibis is that it's easier to have it on a smaller sensor, which is one of the reasons that m43 cameras have the best ibis out there, and why full frame models are alright, but not in the same league. so i'm hoping they figure this out for the full frame camera. as for the video features of the lower end model... I'm just wondering if they pack with as many features as the gh5? along with all the benefits of ff.. please oh please just give us better af!

Being able to use adapted microfourthirds, M-mount, Canon-mount and Sigma-mount lenses with both FF Bayer and Foveon cameras sounds like a dream within a dream. Presumably, with Leica on board, the performance of M-mount lenses would comfortably exceed that of the Sony Alphas which require expensive sensor-stack conversions to optimise for rangefinder lens use.
@fellowcitizen6 жыл бұрын
An M4/3-L adaptor would have to be a disc rather than a ring, but something similar was done for mounting M-lenses to the Fuji GFX (albeit without electronics) so I guess it's plausible. The option to take relatively compact M4/3 lenses (and the Sigma M4/3s which optically cover APS-C) sounds super handy.

Honestly, I'm very torn. Currently I sold all my hybride FF for a Panasonic and it suits me perfectly. So, a FF Panasonic will certainly be a very good choice, especially with Sigma lenses. But all the brands try to convince us that the only way to make good pictures is to buy a FF. It's nonsense. 99% of photographers don't need such a big, heavy and expensive stuff. But marketing knows that talking to ego is the best way to make money. And it works...

For Panasonic, producing a high f stop on full frame would be easy because they have broken tech ground in m43 to get these same impossible apertures. Not to mention a new mount designed properly (listening to this Sony ??) Will future proof the design. I'm sticking to m43 though. It's lighter and fantastic with leica branded glass.
@WhiteWulfe6 жыл бұрын
When I saw the news about a second one, I'm tentatively excited for it.. I'm hoping for a good, low-light performer, and IBIS on both models is a nice feature to say the least, doubly so if it's as good as the GH5's, or even better the G9's... What I wasn't so thrilled about though, is they seem to once again be relying on zooms. Sure, for launch, it's apparently only one prime and two zooms, but I'd definitely like to see more primes by the time the system goes to retail... At least one that's wider (be it 28 or 35mm), and one that goes further, say the 85mm range, as their zooms are covering the "standard" ranges. The partnership with Sigma makes me happy, especially if it means we get Art lenses in native mounts, because the heavier art lenses actually make sense on a full frame body (on a micro four thirds body, they're comically big, and heavy as all sin), because they're more balanced. I'll be less picky about the zooms if they happen to be constant aperture, parfocal, AND weather sealed, because those are all nice things to have. Will I be rushing out to buy one? Probably not, but I'll keep an eye on it. I rather like some of the advantages micro four thirds has, especially it's weight and size (small size is handy for it not being noticed as easily or as much when you're out and about taking photographs, and naturally your arm doesn't get as tired or your fingers cramp up as fast when you're holding it), but also for it's reach - that 2x crop factor helps keep lenses smaller, which means they take up less space in one's bag ^_^ It all really depends on the low light performance of that smaller one, because if it clears up that one problem I do have with my G85 (well, technically two, as it's sensor noise and dark current energy from long exposures that are my issues) I suspect it would be a welcome addition to my kit. Sure, it'll be heavier, and the glass needs to be bigger too due to physics, but I predominately deal with primes anyways, so the weight isn't as much of an issue if I make it more of a fair fight - aka compare Olympus' f1.2 primes versus whatever full frame lenses come out. I don't say the f1.2 lenses because of equivalent or anything like that, but more so because comparing something featherweight like the 17mm f1.8 versus a Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens isn't a fair comparison at all. 390g for the f1.2 Olympus versus 665g for the f1.4 Sigma Art... Yes, the Sigma is 275g heavier (so about half a pound), but if one's plan is to just have one or two primes in the bag per camera, it isn't as bad. I'm also doing that comparison because they're both at least 67mm filter threads. Is it as light as a full on micro four thids kit? Nope, but once again, if low light performance knocks it out of the park..... ^_^

I agree. If I had to choose between having a camera (or two) and several lenses in a bag, or being able to have those exact same focal lengths covered but also have a packed hot lunch (say, in a Mr.Bento or something like that), and it all weighs the same... Yeah, I'll take the hot lunch options!

Hi Kim, good news indeed, about time there was some real competition for Sony, sad about the IBIB tho. , unless you can lock the sensor, resolution will never come anywhere near medium format, the pixel-shift is just a gimmick, Ibis works just fine on M4/3, because the sensor is so small it doesn't have to be moved very far or very fast, compared to full-frame!. Image stabilisation built into the lens is a much better proposition, please don't be fooled by the misleading marketing hype. The features that really matter are:- video features, frame rate, buffer depth, signal to noise ratio, dynamic range, focusing speed, tracking and accuracy, control and menu layout, battery life, strength of lenses mount, shutter control options, build quality, price. Cheers, Richard.

A Mft is a good step up from point and shoot cameras, but if for 500$ extra, you can get the FF sweetness, on a camera that punches above its price tag (like the A7iii does), then i guess it's justifiable to go the extra mile, i learned the hard way, that when you buy cheap, you feel like you didn't get your money worth in technology.

it doesn't mean that m43 would die.. fuji does the same with apsc and medium format, they make lenses and cameras for both and treat them separate.. another advantage of m43 is that olympus is also on board and their new em1iii coming out next year appears to be some kind of beast! so i wouldn't worry, m43 isn't dying, it'll always have tiny lenses no other format can compete with!
