In the summer of 2004, Palyul Tulku Thubten Palzang (Thubsang) Rinpoche, alongside of Kyabje Penor Rinpoche, presided over Palyul Annual Summer Retreat in Upstate NY Retreat center, offering many empowerments and teachings.

Brief Biography of Tulku Thubten Palzang Rinpoche written in 2004 for Rinpoche's 1st visit to the West:
Thubten Palzang was born in the year of the Fire Rat (1936). He was discovered by the great Khenpo Ngaga Rinpoche,
the same Khenpo who confirmed the recognition of Kyabje Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche.
Thubten Palzang Rinpoche along with Dzongnang Rinpoche was a younger classmate and a close friend of Kyabje Penor Rinpoche.
The three young tulkus studied and practiced under the direct guidance of Khenpo Ngaga and received teachings and empowerments from many realized masters.
Among these, he received the Rinchen Ter Dzod (Precious Terma Treasury) from Chogtrul Rinpoche and the Dam Ngang Dzod (Treasury of Essential Instruction),
the Do Wang Drangtsi Chu Gyun (Anu Yoga Empowerment-Continual Flow of Nectar) from Khenpo Legshed Jordan.
