I love the back doors , did you make them or you bought them to size ?
@carriagehousetrailers2 ай бұрын
I built them.

How would you keep the rain out of there? I restore horse trailers into bars/ concessions and keeping water out of those trailers is difficult. Any homemade awning/windows made like this one will leak profusely! And the back door too. All that stuff needs to be metal fabricated with heavy weather stripping. I’m sure the owner of this trailer is a good guy. He did beautiful work. I just know these boogers really like to leak.

As you mentioned, they are horse trailers and are not designed to be weather tight. It will likely leak some in a downpour. That’s why it’s best to store them inside or at least covered.

Your videos are awesome and they're a big help as i am converting 1 myself, so thank you! What size struts are you using for the side windows?
@carriagehousetrailers Жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! Thanks for the feedback! I usually use 15” gas struts. I think these were 65lb lifting capacity. Plenty of strength to keep the door open.

Greetings, Where do you get your replacement window/roof vent and window trim and diamond plate?
@carriagehousetrailers Жыл бұрын
The low profile roof vent is here. amzn.to/3HCazVX The window trim I almost always refurbish the old trim with a cup brush on my angle grinder. However, new trim I get from www.horsetraileraccessorystore.com/ The diamond tread aluminum I get from metal supermarkets. They cut to size so you don’t have to buy a whole sheet. I hope that helps.

@@carriagehousetrailers I received the hubcaps. How do you install them? Would you happen to have a video showing this? 😊
@carriagehousetrailers3 ай бұрын
@@cheriejohnson9445 I don’t unfortunately. What I do is line up the hole with the valve stem and then push around the perimeter of the hubcap. It sort of wedges into place. Some parts might be tight and I use the palm of my hand to strike it to make it go in. I hope that helps! Shiny hubcaps transform a trailer!

@@carriagehousetrailersThank you for responding! It was very difficult to install them. They wouldn’t go on with just pushing them. Had to use a rubber mallet and I ended up making a few dents 😩
