Thank you Richard for this amazing collection of wonderful organists. My father was an organist who was trained in Scotland and played there before coming to Canada where he held several positions playing the King of instruments. There is absolutely nothing like it 🎹🎶❤️

I am completely elated! I am a cellist but the organ is my favorite instrument. I am only 3:27 into the video. I cried at only two minutes in. The organ is an instrument where we dance AND play. I haven’t learned the keyboard, yet, but I find this so motivating to finally begin. Also, Richard, you are a genius for many reasons, but specifically I want to thank you for adding a video inset of the pedals in front of the sheet music; perfect place for an inset.

I echo this request - and have made it myself before. For some of us, the organ is the important bit. If I am buying a recording, I choose first the organ I want to hear - then the programme, then the organist. Sorry! :) What instrument a bassoonist or a violinist is playing in pretty irrelevant, but the organ is particularly unique to the building, so a sample set indication would be welcome - not only to identify the organ, but also the building in which it lives. Thanks

Perhaps it might have been better to descibe these performances and "notable" or similar instead of "best". All who were invited to BIS brought their time, talent, and skill and they all were excellent performances.

First I would like to say that I appreciate everything what is presented on this channel. Thanks for that! Now there is one thing that is puzzling me. It has happened more than once on this channel, but also with other famous organists on other channels, that, if Bach is played on the organ, often that phrasing on the first note of the measure is being used. I am not sure why organist are doing that. I mean, its like their fingers are sticked to the keys with chewing gum. It really distracts me from the sheer virtuosity Bach is displaying through his organworks. (I am not talking about Chorals) Can't help it, but if I hear it I instantly skip. Maybe my ears were spoiled too much by listening to Michel Chapuis. Perhaps its a matter of taste. So I don't want to offend anyone. Sometimes I think that organists cannot keep up the speed and cheat with phrasing.....

Organists are becoming more and more a dying breed, so much so Churches are trying to fill the gap with pianists.
@emeraldacrefarm99768 ай бұрын
I think churches are hastening the demise of organists by filling their programs with the modern so-called worship music. My late piano/organ instructor called called those modern songs 7-11 music -- 7 words repeated 11 times - mere noise.

@@emeraldacrefarm9976there is wheat in the chaff. I most definitely love the organ and prefer the traditions I learned in the late 20th century as a professional organist, but each flock will find its own way with the music that means something to them.
